Daily Harvest Vs Smoothie Box

My Honest Daily Harvest Review

UNBOXING “Daily Harvest” Smoothie Subscription Box

Lets go over one of the boxes I received.

Everything came in a sturdy, insulated cardboard box. Daily Harvest uses dry ice to keep the cups frozen during shipment and delivery.

The difference, compared to other meal delivery companies, is everything shows up frozen. So, its crucial to get the cups in the freezer as soon as possible. They even give a reminder sticker just in case you forget.

Ive never had an issue with the ingredients showing up thaw.

Here are my thoughts on some of the Daily Harvest meals Ive tried.

How Much Does It Cost

Each item is between $5.99-8.99 each. And there are certain things in life that Ill pay a little more for, for conveniences sake. Yes, it may seem expensive. But so is time. Especially when it comes to making clean, healthy meals while taking care of a 10 month old!

But really, when you compare it to eating out, its definitely cheaper. Most smoothies in my town cost $8-$10 and salads are almost always $10-$15. And if you live in a bigger city, youre likely paying even more than that. Youre also getting them brought straight to your door, which makes it EASY as a busy mom.

Fresh Food: Sakara Or Thistle

Daily Harvest is proud of its farm-to-frozen meals, which it says retain maximum nutrients since the produce is frozen shortly after its picked. Still, certain disheslike baked goods and leafy saladsare just better fresh. You can get these from vegan- and gluten-free-friendly meal-delivery services Sakara and Thistle.

What I Made And Ate And How I Liked It

Smoothie Box Review 2020

I was naturally skeptical of these frozen meals before digging in for my Daily Harvest review, but I’ll start by saying I genuinely enjoyed the bulk of them. The Daily Harvest culinary team makes a clear effort to mix up the spice blends, veggie and fruit combinations and grains to keep things interesting. Everything tasted fresh and mostly balanced with nothing ever turning out way too sweet, salty, spicy or sour. Admittedly after a few weeks, there were moments when everything sort of started tasting the same, which may be a result of a lot of recurring characters like cacao, avocado, lentils, squash and healthy dense greens, but in fairness, I was eating them at least a few times a week. As you’ll see below, the flatbreads didn’t fare as well as the other categories.

Cold brew, banana and almond butter smoothie: This is similar to a smoothie I make often at home and was excellent, perhaps my favorite smoothie of them all. I mixed it with almond milk, as suggested, and it was like a healthy version of a Starbucks frozen coffee.

Chocolate blueberry smoothie with greens, organic banana and almond butter: I liked this one a lot also. I wasn’t sure how the greens would play with cacao and blueberry, but they mostly faded into the background. It felt as if I’d tricked myself into eating a salad for breakfast.

Brussels sprout and lime pad thai goes into the pan.

Note the vegan ice cream was not yet available at the time of my testing.

Flavor Freshness And Quality: Frozen Fresh At Peak Harvest

The foods we received were consistently fresh and of excellent quality. The flatbreads featured some interesting ingredient pairings, though it’s worth mentioning that some meals, including the lentil + cremini soup, lacked the comforting savory and robust flavors that you would expect from a soup. We paired the harvest bowls and soups with other meals to compensate for what we noticed was a lack of flavor.

Daily Harvest says it sources produce at peak ripeness and then freezes items within hours to lock in the nutrients and flavors. In addition, Daily Harvest commits to featuring 95% organic ingredients, and all products listed under the Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen are always organic.

Smoothie Box Review: Is Smoothie Box Worth It

A full Smoothie Box Review! Everything you need to know from what it is, how it works, the cost, is it worth it, how I like it, and a promo code to try them out!

This post is not sponsored by Smoothie Box. We have been using the service for a year and this is my honest review of it.

Ive been enjoying Smoothie Box for over a year now and get a lot of questions about it. So I figured it would be easiest to write a whole review post on it answering all your questions!

For those of you wondering what Smoothie Box is, its a healthy smoothie delivery service that delivers ready to blend smoothies right to your door! I love a good smoothie and make them regularly in our house. Smoothie Box makes it convenient to have healthy options when we are crunched for time or run out of ingredients to make our own.

What I love about smoothies is that they are easy to make, you can pack in the nutrients, and with so many different things you can add, the flavors are endless! While they are a great way to get in lots of veggies, fruit, healthy fats, and vitamins and minerals, its easy to go overboard and make them not so healthy, especially when ordering when out at juice shops.

That is why I love Smoothie Box so much! They take the guesswork out of it and their smoothies have a great balance of protein, fat, and carbs. Lets get into what it is and how it works.

Revive Superfoods includes a large “Thank You” postcard in the box with a reminder that customers can modify a plan, edit cups, skip or pause orders, and reach out to customer service 24/7.

Our View: Do Daily Harvest Smoothies Make Sense

Daily Harvest vs Green Blender: Battle Of The Smoothie ...

From what we found online and from previous customer reports, Daily Harvest is good at what they do they deliver convenient, healthy smoothie ingredients and other meals. While many people noted that they would pay far less for a similar product at the grocery store or even Starbucks, others were clear that they appreciated the ease it offered and that they didnt need to waste ingredients.

Regarding those ingredients, Daily Harvest takes care to fill their food products with fresh ingredients and relies on freezing temperatures to keep them safe. According to the New York Times and Chicago Tribune, this is a smart way to ensure your ingredients maintain nutrition until you eat them.

So what do we think of Daily Harvest? If you want a new way to add healthy, balanced foods to your diet or want to streamline your smoothie process each morning, Daily Harvest might be perfect for you. If youd rather have more freedom for your smoothies or want a subscription service that offers a greater variety of hot food items, you might be better off with a company like Blue Apron instead.

    Who’s Daily Harvest Good For

Daily Harvest Unboxing | Smoothies, Soups, Easy!

This service works best for students or young professionals, rather than families, because of the smaller portion sizes. While I found some of the individual dishes to be filling, the food isn’t enough to make meals for families or larger groups. These items are also great for quick preparation and on-the-go eating . And because the food arrives frozen, if you have to travel for work, you can just store your items, rather than having to pause or cancel your order.
