- Your Acai Bowl is best if enjoyed as soon as you make it. If you want to make it in advance, pour the smoothie base into individual containers and freeze without the toppings. To eat later, allow the smoothie bowl to thaw for 10-15 minutes and give it a stir before adding your toppings.

Up until recently it felt like acai puree was an exotic specialty food that wasnt easily available to me, and as you may know, Im not usually the type to seek out specialty ingredients. The second key is the blend. Unlike regular green smoothies that blend into a liquid fairly easily, smoothie bowls will remain thick in the blender, and might take a little muscle. This is my method for blending:
How To Make A Quick And Easy Classic Breakfast Acai Bowl:
First, youll need a high powered blender or a food processor to make this smoothie bowl. This 3.5 qt. KitchenAid food processor is my favorite kitchen appliance because it blends smoothie bowls better than my Nutribullet blender, takes up little space on the counter and is easy to clean. I use this small, but mighty food processor for all of my smoothie bowls and for making banana nice cream!
Dont skip this step! Run your packet of frozen acai puree under hot water to slightly thaw and break in half before opening. This step helps your acai puree get evenly distributed throughout the smoothie bowl and makes blending easier.
Next, add the thawed acai packet, frozen blueberries and frozen banana chunks to your blender or food processor. Drizzle a little pure maple syrup or honey for sweetness and sprinkle in some acai powder for an enhanced berry flavor. Finally, pour in a splash of non-dairy milk to help your ingredients blend smoothly.
Afterwards, give your blender or food processor a little break from blending and then blend again to make sure your acai bowl doesnt have any big chunks of frozen fruit left behind. Your classic breakfast acai bowl should be thick and creamy before you spoon it into a bowl and add any toppings.

We all have different tastes, and different nutritional needs. Here are some ideas for modifying this smoothie to make it perfect for you!
Mix up the Fruit: I recommend having 1 sweet fruit in here, so if mango isnt your thing, try banana. Blueberries are awesome in here, but Ive also made this with frozen raspberries and frozen strawberries. Any frozen berries work here!

The Recipe: Healthy Aa Smoothie Bowl
- 2packs Açaí berry puree
- 1smallfrozen banana
- 1/3 cupvanilla almond milk
- 2 pitted dates, chopped
- 1/2 cupfresh berries
- top with granola, berries, nuts, coconut…whatever you have on hand!
Remove Açaí packs from freezer and allow to sit for two minutes. Chop dates and place all other ingredients in a high powered blender. Use hands to break up puree in packs, add to blender. Blend for three minutes, stopping when needed to mix ingredients with a long wooden spoon and blend again. When smooth, pour into bowls and top with granola, berries, nuts, coconut…whatever you have on hand!
Why Is Acai Good For You
- It is thought to have more antioxidants than any other fruit.
- It contains medium chain fatty acids, including oleic acid and linoleic acid , which are thought to reduce LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol. These healthy fats promote both heart and skin health.
