How To Freeze Bananas Quickly

How to make Strawberry Banana Smoothie w/ almond milk!

Buy a big bunch of bananas and let them turn nicely ripe. Aim for nicely yellow bananas, perhaps with a few spotsnot full-blown spotty brown like you would for banana bread.

Peel and slice the bananas into 1/2-inch segments. Flash-freeze them by placing the slices in a single layer on parchment paper-lined baking sheets that will fit in your freezer). This is also a great way to freeze your bananas in a hurry.

Once fully frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag and they will keep in the freezer for several months.

Ingredients In This Recipe:

Please see the recipe card further along in the post for exact quantities of ingredients and the full method.

Strawberries use fresh or frozen strawberries, depending on seasonal availability.

Banana I have used a fresh, very ripe banana, but frozen works perfectly!

Milk use any kind of milk I really like the flavour of almond milk, but any kind is fine!

Greek Yoghurt adds a lovely creaminess and thickness to the smoothie.

Vanilla and Maple Syrup these are both optional, but add a lovely depth of flavour and sweetness.

The Key To Thick Smoothie Bowls

There are 3 keys to easy thick smoothie bowls. You can read more about them here in this post all about how to make perfect smoothie bowls!

First, use frozen fruit. Reach for frozen banana over fresh and buy frozen berries for smoothies.

Second, add all your frozen fruit to a high speed blender. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to let the fruit soften slightly. Star the blender on low and blend until the fruit is chopped up into small bits.

Third, add your liquid and continue blending, using a tamper, or scraping the sides, as needed until it is completely smooth. Add more liquid as needed, a little at a time.

Smoothies Healthiest Or Not

It is a long debate about the healthy nature of smoothies. Some will say that it is not the healthiest. But, it is not true. Likewise fruits, the smoothies are also healthier. When you add sugar to them, you enhance the calories, which are not good for the diet.

Consequently, it is the best choice to make smoothies without using extra sugar or sweetener. In this recipe, we will use bananas with strawberries. The main reason is that banana is with natural sweetness. Hence, it makes your drink sweet and full of taste. There are no side effects of drinking smoothies regularly but make without sugar.

Why Is Agave Nectar Used In This Smoothie Recipe

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

Even, without the dairy this smoothie is still creamy from the coconut milk and banana. Plus it is packed with potassium, Vitamin C, protein, fiber, and antioxidants.

Recently I have been using Agave Nectar instead of sugar and this smoothie is no exception. What I love about the agave nectar as compared to sugar or even honey is it does not require a lot to sweeten something up. Agave Nectar has a moderate glycemic level and whats better is it is natural. The source of the sweet from Agave Nectar comes from fructose, which is the natural sweetness that comes from fruits and vegetables. Even better!

Without the dairy, sugar, or caffeine. This Coconut Strawberry Banana Smoothie is sure to give you that rush to wake you up in the morning. Or, if your like me, a sweet treat to drink while watching the Bachelor at night! Hehe..

Optional: Add Goji Berries

One final, but entirely optional ingredient you might like to add to this smoothie are goji berries. They are slightly sweet and provide you with an abundance of antioxidants and other great benefits. The only problem is they can be somewhat hard to find in local supermarkets, especially outside of a powder form. If you have access to fresh goji berries though, definitely consider adding them into the mix.

This smoothie recipe can definitely provide your body with plenty of fuel to keep you energized. The natural sugars found in the fruits help out with that big time without contributing to unwanted weight gain like more refined sugars do. And if youre pressed for time when it comes to making breakfast but you want something with a little bit more protein, you can, of course, add a scoop or two of paleo-approved protein powder to up the protein content significantly.

Simple Strawberry & Banana Smoothie

If youre wondering how to make a strawberry and banana smoothie with almond milk, then heres the recipe

  • 120ml almond milk

However, if youre just interested in how to make a strawberry smoothie with almond milk, then its not simply a matter of substituting the banana for extra strawberries. The balance of flavour might work, but the texture would be too watery.

In this case, youd also need to reduce the amount of almond milk or add a thickening base .

As a rule of thumb for smoothies, we recommend 1-2 portions of fruit, 1 portion of veg, and 120ml of liquid. You can then play around with different flavour combos, knowing that the consistency will be about right.

Using nut milk in your smoothies will give them a new depth of flavour. In fact, were pretty sure that once youve tried one of these plant-based milk recipes, you wont want to go back to dairy!

Should I Put Yogurt In My Smoothie

A lot of smoothie shops and restaurants use ice cream to create that signature flavor and texture.

Kim and I drink a lot of smoothies and the idea of eating that much ice cream on a regular basis would do a number on our health.

So, we started using yogurts and frozen fruit to re-create the same texture without all the added sugar and fat.

In closing, if the choice comes down to yogurt or ice cream, then yes, you should put yogurt in your smoothies.

How Do You Make A Smoothie Thicker

Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Almond Milk

The key to a thick smoothie is to use frozen fruit and a high powered blender . Were already using frozen strawberries, but feel free to also pre-freeze your banana and use that.

If your smoothie still isnt thick enough try adding in more frozen fruit, a scoop of Greek yogurt, protein powder, and/or rolled oats.

Tips For Making The Best Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Dont add ice. Smoothie recipes often pair fresh fruit with ice cubes. This seems like a great idea if youre trying to create a refreshing beverage, right? Well, in my opinion, this is a big mistake. Ice actually dilutes the fruit and leads to a lackluster flavor. Instead, for a truly flavor-packed smoothie, be sure to use frozen bananas. This will give you a chilled smoothie and maximize fruity flavor.

Work the blender up to its highest speed. I recommend starting the blender on a low speed and gradually turning the dial up. It is easiest to make smoothies in a high-powered blender with a tamper, like a Vitamix blender.

Blend the greens first. If you are including greens in your smoothie, I recommend blending them with the plant-based milk before adding the other ingredients. This ensures even blending.

Why Use Almond Milk In Smoothies

Strawberry Banana Almond Butter Smoothie

Almond milk is a dairy free, plant based milk thats made with almonds and water. Its great for using in smoothies because its a dairy free milk that helps to achieve a creamy texture. Here are a few notes about using almond milk in smoothies:

  • Can you taste almond milk in smoothies? Not really! Most almond milk has a very neutral flavor, so its virtually imperceptible in a smoothie.
  • Does almond milk make smoothies thicker? No. Almond milk is a good liquid that helps smoothies blend, but its texture is closer to water than milk. By itself, it does not lend creaminess to a smoothie. But in concert with other ingredients, it helps to form just the right smoothie texture.

Can You Put Kiwi Skin In A Smoothie

How to make almond milk and strawberry banana smoothie

The answer is a surprising yes! Kiwi skin can be eaten much like a peach or apple. It has added nutrition and health benefits. Its certainly worth trying to see if you like it.

That being said I prefer to leave the kiwi skin out of my smoothie because of the consistency. To remove the skin, just cut the kiwi in half and use a spoon to scoop out the green flesh.

    Fresh Strawberry Banana Smoothie

It is a great tasting simple smoothie that uses frozen fruits but with fresh lemon juice. Another amazing ingredient in it is rice milk. In the above recipes, we used almond milk or low-fat milk. But, here, we will use rice milk. The quality of this ingredient is that it gives a more fresh taste than all other ways. In addition to it, it is more energetic and tasty. There are seven ingredients used in it. It only needs six minutes for the quick making. The total calories are 150kcal.

    Ingredients:

    • Rice milk of one cup
    • Use frozen strawberries of one cup
    • One cup of banana
    • Fresh lemon juice of only two tablespoons
    • Basil leaves and mint leaves of one tablespoon
    • Honey

    Instructions:

    • The instructions are easier that you will quickly understand them. You can use both kinds of blender, i.e., high-powered or low-powered. The only difference between these blenders is their time of making. The high-powered blender will give you quick results, and the low-powered will take a little bit of time.
    • Combine all food items in the blender. The best way to blending is to start with low speed and then gradually increase speed.
    • After blending, check its results. If you notice the texture is no smoother, then again blend. You can also use any tamper for the scraping down of sides of it.
    • The resulting drink may become too thicker. Now, if you desire to make it a little thin, then add little milk to it. You will enjoy the best taste after instantly made it.

    Using Veggies In A Smoothie

First I wanna talk about the cauliflower in the room. If you already read the ingredients for this smoothie and that one threw you off, don’t fear! I know adding cauliflower to a fruit smoothie might sound odd, but it is a super mild veggie that adds nutrition + creaminess.

When using frozen cauliflower, I don’t even notice the flavor of it in my smoothie! While using fresh can produce a different taste, this smoothie tastes like bananas and strawberries all the way.

I often throw veggies in my smoothies like carrot, sweet potato, cauliflower, leafy greens, cabbage, and celery. They each provide a whole host of health benefits, as well as blend seamlessly into smoothies with a variety of other ingredients. Try tossing one of these vegetables into your next smoothie, and then let me know how it worked out!

Heres A Quick Look At How To Make Strawberry Banana Smoothies:

Heres a bonus: This smoothie is great for sneaking in other good-for-you stuff! I often put in some ground flax seeds or chia seeds. Sometimes I add oats if I want my smoothie to be just a little more breakfasty . When I feel like being really good, I throw in a handful of spinach or kale .

If you put in some extras, just remember that you may need to add a little more almond milk to loosen things up depending on how much stuff you add in. Just see how its going once you start blending.
