Thats the main purpose of almond flour here. It will provide you with energy half of the fats and more than half of the protein in this recipe. Though you can simply leave it out if you dont need its benefits.

    • Yogurt I specifically chose plain Greek yogurt . Plain Greek yogurt is a great source of protein and calcium, and has no added/refined sugar. If you need to substitute a non-dairy yogurt, there are some great plant-based options on the market. You can also use regular plain yogurt. If you want to use flavored yogurt be sure to read the labels and watch the sugar content.
    • Raspberries Most grocery stores carry frozen raspberries in the frozen foods section all year round. If they are in season and available, feel free to substitute fresh raspberries. Youll need to add 1 heaping cup of ice to the smoothie when using fresh berries.
    • Sweeteners there are a few sweeteners I recommend. For this recipe I chose a liquid sweetener, Vanilla Cream Stevia Sweet Drops. You can also use granular sweeteners, like Lakanto or Whole Earth Monk Fruit Sweeteners. You can also use 1 tsp. of honey or maple syrup. Note that honey or maple syrup will increase the calorie content of the smoothie.

  • Start by adding the liquid ingredients to the blender first. The almond milk and yogurt will help the viscosity of the blades work through the almonds and frozen raspberries.
  • Next, add the frozen raspberries, almonds, chia seeds and sweetener to the blender.

    Theres also the possibility that your energy level will decrease since this is a liquid diet. Going through a drastic change in your diet can lead to nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, headaches, and even problems with your concentration.

    Liquid diets may also decrease your muscles, and it can cause to develop digestive issues and gallstones if you do that for more than 1 month.

    Theres also the chance that you might wind up crashing. You might withdraw and this can lead you to eat more unhealthy food.

    Although you can continue with the program after 21 days, Drew advises to not go beyond 1 month. The recipes youll be consuming in these 21 days comprise nutritional value as well as enough fats and proteins, but they wont sustain you in the long run. You would eventually have to go back to eating solid food. This program may not be intended to be used for several months.     How Do You Keep A Raspberry Smoothie Fresh

    The best time to consume this smoothie is directly after making it. Everything is still fresh, cold, and well combined.

    However, if you want to drink it later, a Low Carb Raspberry Smoothie can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Store it in an airtight container, not your blender. Fill the container to the very top to keep any air out. Otherwise, the smoothie can pick up odors from nearby foods.

    If the smoothie separates, you can just give it a mix to blend everything back together. The colour of the smoothie might change as avocado oxidizes but it shouldnt affect the flavour.

    Alternatively, you can freeze the raspberry smoothie if you cant finish it. To do so, you can add the smoothie to a glass mason jar, leaving some head room.     How To Make A Raspberry Smoothie:

    Before we get started, I want to give you a quick heads up about one of the ingredients. The ice in this recipe is optional.

    It may sound strange, but over the years Ive seen so many comments on smoothie recipes regarding their thickness. Some people love a thick smoothie while others prefer a thinner texture.

    In the numbered photos below and in the video , I did not add ice. That way you could see what the smoothie looks like without it.

    Its rather thin but pours easily. For the finished photos , I used ice along with the other ingredients.

    The very beginning and end of the video show the exact same glass and raspberry smoothie. Its nice, thick, and well blended, but obviously not as thin as before the ice was added.

    Anyway, I just wanted to mention the differences and why the ice was listed as optional. Its a preference and up to you if youd like to add it.

    To make the raspberry banana smoothie, add all the ingredients to the blender. Check your blenders user manual to see if theres a certain order that they need to be added.

    Close the lid, and blend until smooth. Taste and add more honey or another banana if desired.

    I used 1 large banana for the recipe pictured but have used 2 small bananas in the past. The amount of honey I use varies depending on the sweetness of the fruit, but normally its around 1 tablespoon.

    Pour the smoothie into glasses, garnish with fresh fruit and a straw, and enjoy!
