What Is Vanilla Almond Milk

Similar to Chocolate Almond Milk, vanilla almond milk is lightly sweetened and flavored with vanilla. This flavor is commonly sold at grocery stores, but its super-easy to make at home, without any extra preservatives or thickeners.

This recipe is based on my original almond milk recipe, but embellished with extra flavor!

I made this Almond Milk Breakfast Smoothie Recipe with my favorite go-to ingredient, Silk Almondmilk.

This breakfast smoothie recipe is a blend of Silk Almondmilk, banana, almond butter, maple syrup, cinnamon and oats.

Everything you need in a breakfast all in one glass!

So while I may be frantically running out the door every morning with bags under my eyes and mismatched socks. At least I can be sure my daughter and I get a healthy breakfast.

  • 1½ Cups Silk Unsweetened Almondmilk
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/4 Cup Old Fashion Oats, or quick oats
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Pure Maple Syrup, to desired sweetness

And now for the recipe. Actually, I feel a little guilty about calling this a recipe. Basically, you take some fresh, delicious, healthy ingredients, whip them up in a blender and enjoy. Not much cooking involved.

First, gather your ingredients: Almond milk , ice cubes, fresh blueberries and strawberries, and honey.

I used unsweetened Silk Almond. Its only 35 calories a serving, and a wonderful source of Vitamin D. Drop all of that healthy goodness in a blender, and mix.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe With Silk Vanilla Almondmilk

When youre in the mood for a delicious dessert, treat yourself to soft, gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies with a hint of Vanilla flavoring from Silk Vanilla Almondmilk. Just make sure to keep eye out for the Cookie Monster in your home, because having just one of these tasty treats is never enough. Featured below is a modified recipe from Silk for Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Ingredients:

12 oz semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Slowly add Silk, mix well, then add the vanilla.

3. Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and stir to blend. Fold in the chocolate chips.

4. Drop by teaspoon onto buttered or parchment-lined cookie sheets.

5. Bake for 8-10 minutes .

Tips To Make The Best Almond Milk Smoothie

  • If you prefer thick smoothies, do not over blend the ice.
  • For a low carb smoothie, swap out the banana for frozen pumpkin or avocado chunks. You will need to add 1-2 tablespoons of your favorite sweetener to compensate .
  • Feel free to add 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder to add a protein boost. Unless you want to change up the flavor, Id stick to an unflavored protein powder.
  • If youd like a sweeter smoothie, you can add some honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar.

If any of you have or have had toddlers then you know how pickyerrparticular they can be when it comes to food. For the longest time, I thought I had the perfect little eater on my hands. Kellan would eat everything: kale, sausage, quinoa, black beans, chicken, fish, pretty much everything we put in front of him. Then he got older and he got pickier. He started telling us things he liked and things he didnt. The like list got shorter and the dont like list got bigger. And if you ever try to slip something by him, he knows. This is why when the nice people at Silk wanted me to do a taste challenge using their Vanilla Almondmilk I knew exactly who I wanted to test it out on 🙂

Kellan and I have been enjoying smoothies together almost every morning for the better part of 2 years. I will vary the things we add into the smoothie sometimes fresh berries, sometimes frozen, sometimes we add peanut butter and sometimes chia seeds or flax. But the base, the base, is always whole milk.

Ive tried other stuff. Ive tried apple juice when we ran out of milk. He barely touched it. When he was sick and I wanted to get some extra vitamin C into his diet, I tried using orange juice as the base. One sip and he looked up at me, wrinkled his nose and said Its orange. I dont like it! And wouldnt drink anymore.

And guess what

He LOVED it. He didnt ask if there was something else in it. He didnt say he didnt like it. He just kept drinking and drinking. Success!

Mixed Berry Smoothie Or The Best Kind Of Ice Cream Craving Fix

I am already 31 weeks pregnant. Yes, its going fast. And all I am craving is ice cream. The thing is, I never eat ice cream from the store. They contain way too much added sugar, and also milk upsets my stomach very quickly.

But some days, I dont have the time to make my own ice cream, and the best ice cream craving replacement when pregnant is definitely a thick smoothie. Its strawberry season in New Zealand, so its the perfect timing!

I love to buy LOTS of fresh strawberries in summer and freeze them for the year. Strawberries are delicious keto fruits to use in any recipe. I use frozen strawberries mainly in smoothies but also in muffins.

This mixed berry Smoothie is using a low-carb smoothie recipe with almond milk. I love this almond milk because its light, dairy-free, and low-calorie only 16 kcal/ 100ml. Plus, the vanilla almond milk doesnt contain added sugar, and it adds a delicious vanilla flavor to smoothies.

The texture of this mixed berry smoothie is thick and creamy very close to a berry ice cream. I found this smoothie really satisfying, too, and I did not reach the pantry after drinking it.

I simply added a few dried goji berries to naturally enhance the sweetness. Goji berries contain a low amount of natural sugar and are the best superfood to add to a smoothie.

Storing And Freezing The Smoothie

  • To store: Smoothies are best enjoyed within 1-2 hours of making them. However, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Be sure to mix it very well before enjoying it.
  • To freeze: Pour the smoothie into an ice cube tray or ziplock bags, and store in the freezer for up to 6 months. When ready to enjoy, simply reblend until smooth and creamy.

How To Make An Almond Milk Smoothie

This Chocolate Banana Almond Milk Smoothie is super simple to make so easy that any of our kids could make it themselves! Just toss the frozen banana, ice, Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk, chia seeds, almond butter, and unsweetened cocoa powder in the blender. Then press puree and blend until it is smooth.

Top it with a few slices of banana, sliced almonds, and a couple of mini chocolate chips for a fun garnish. In less than 5 minutes, you have a tasty afternoon snack that you can feel good about eating.
