This Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie is my go to healthy breakfast that takes just a few minutes to throw together and tastes like ice cream 😀 Legit one of my FAVORITE smoothie recipes on the blog.

Considering I have a ridiculous amount of smoothie recipes on my blog at this point, its a little crazy that I dont already have a peanut butter banana recipe. I make a version of this smoothie ALL of the time so I figured that I would document my go to recipe for you.

As the weather starts to warm up in the spring , I always find myself reaching for smoothies more often in the mornings. Im not sad about that one little bit since most of my smoothies just taste like a big cup of creamy ice cream. Ice cream for breakfast on the reg is the kind of life that I want to live.

As with most of my smoothies, I tried to make this one flexible. I often offer an alternative for bananas . But since its a star ingredient in this peanut butter smoothie, Ill refrain 🙂

The kinds of yogurt and the milk that you use are completely up to you. I used almond milk and greek yogurt but if desired, you can use regular milk or a dairy free alternative yogurt. Whatever works best for your diet.

Want to add a little more protein to you chocolate banana smoothie? Here are our best recommendations, both plant-based and dairy protein:

It kinda baffles me though Why would you need sugar if you are using fresh fruits as the base of this healthy strawberry smoothie.   • Dont use ice I am purposefully using frozen fruits to avoid using ice. I always feel like ice waters down my smoothies and thats not something I like. Using frozen fruits allows your smoothie to be thick and creamy with strong fruit flavors.

What Kind Of Yogurt Should You Use In Smoothies

You should use plain Greek yogurt that has more grams of protein than sugar.

Using plain, unsweetened, unflavored Greek yogurt gives you the good fat content you want from yogurt, but without added sugar.

Because you are blending the yogurt with fruit, there really is no need for additional sugar. It will be sweet enough just with fruit.

Plain Chobani yogurt is one of our favorites to add to smoothies!

However, if you find you need to sweeten your smoothie, I recommend adding a little bit of honey or agave nectar for a natural sweetener.

How To Make Ultra Satisfying And Nutrient

My favorite thing about smoothies is that you can adapt based on what you love. In this case, we took a basic blueberry banana smoothie and added lots of extra nutrition with hydrating cucumber, iron-rich greens and anti-inflammatory ginger. For even more sticking power, we throw in omega-rich hemp seeds and cacao nibs.

Lets dive into what makes this smoothie great:

  • Blueberries are high in fiber, low in sugar and are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. You can use fresh or frozen berries. The only downside to fresh is that they have quite a bit of pectin. There isnt anything wrong with that, but when fresh blueberries are blended, the smoothie becomes thick and jello-like over time. This isnt a problem with frozen blueberries, so if you have frozen, use them.
  • Banana adds creaminess, but it doesnt stop there. They are a nutritional powerhouse packed with heart-healthy potassium, vitamin B6 and fiber.
  • Cucumber, spinach and fresh ginger are rich in many essential vitamins and minerals and work wonders in reducing inflammation. Theyre also great for healthy skin, hair and nails.
  • Hemp Seeds and cacao nibs add a bit of protein and lots of omega fatty acids. The hemp seeds blend in and make the smoothie extra creamy while the cacao nibs add a little bit of dark chocolate flavor. If you dont have cacao nibs, try a teaspoon of cocoa powder or just leave them out.

Filling Mango Spinach Smoothie

I drank this delicious, filling, vegan mango spinach smoothie twice a day for 6 months to help me lose 56 pounds.

A mistake I used to make when I was trying to lose weight by drinking green smoothies was to keep the calories around 100-200 each.
