Cool Down The Fruit And Yogurt Smoothie With Frozen Pulp

Fruit and yogurt smoothies are chilly and slightly slushy. Theres absolutely nothing thats worse than sipping a warm smoothie. To cool things down, more fruit is added by way of a frozen fruit pulp. If this product isnt easily found in your regular grocery store, take a jaunt to your local Hispanic, African, or Asian market. Because its a popular food item in those cuisines, youre likely to find it the frozen food sections of their stores.

You can also use frozen fruits such as berries or peaches. Whole strawberries or sliced peaches are hard, so allow them to thaw on the countertop for 10 minutes prior to blending them. You can add blueberries or raspberries directly to the blender from the freezer because theyre so small.

Add the frozen fruit pulp and the fresh, cut fruit to a high-powered blender. The fresh fruit should be closer to the blade to act as a catalyst for the harder frozen fruit.

When buying yogurt you guessed it READ THE LABEL. Make sure that yogurt doesnt contain added sugar, or other weird ingredients aside from the live cultures. Feel free to use Greek yogurt or regular its up to you! I like using Costco brand greek yogurt or Stonyfield Organic whole milk plain yogurt.

If you go the non-dairy route, both cashew milk or coconut milk versions work great. Or try making your own . My version doesnt include probiotics, yet you can easily add them in.

Pineapple Strawberry Smoothie-How To Make A Pineapple Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie-Fruit Smoothie

As I mentioned earlier, my fresh fruit is a massive mango. Because this recipe serves 4, Im in need of at least 2 cups of fresh fruit. Here are some ideas to use as a springboard to which fruit you should use:

    • Berries
    • Banana
    • Papaya
    • Melons

Because watermelon is so watery, and doesnt have a prominent flavor, I wouldnt include it in the melon option. I stay away from apples and pears for the same reason. On the other end of the spectrum, citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit, have too much flavor and acidity and, as a result, should also be avoided in this recipe.

    Prepare Your Fresh Fruit

Whatever fruit you decide to use, prepare it by first washing and trimming it of any leaves or stems.

The mango is going to be peeled and the pit removed. On a cutting board, trim off the end of the fruit using a chefs knife. Cut away the peel of the mango.

Next, use your knife to remove the meaty flesh of the mango on both sides of the pit. After youve removed the flesh of the mango from the pit, cut the fruit into large chunks.

Tips For Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe:

Frozen Strawberry Greek Yogurt Smoothie (10 minute Breakfast)
    • You can still make an amazing strawberry smoothie without yogurt. Yogurt does help make it extra creamy, but bananas do that too. If you are going to make this recipe without yogurt, I would use less juice in the recipe. The banana and less juice will still make a delicious strawberry smoothie without yogurt. This works great if you have children that dont love yogurt or they can taste that distinct taste even hidden in a smoothie , you can still serve a delicious smoothie.
    • You can use almond milk or any dairy free milk instead of water.
    • If adding juice, apple and orange work great.
    • Protein Powder- add this to get more protein if your kids dont like yogurt.
    • Try fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries. Both are great!

Add A Liquid To The Fruit And Yogurt

In order to get things flowing, you need to add a cup of liquid to the ingredients in the blender. Anything from water, to a complimentary juice or nectar, to milk will accomplish this.

Add the liquid to the blend and blend the ingredients on high for 30 seconds. Stop the blender and scrape down the sides. If the fruit and yogurt smoothie seems too thick- like its not moving fluidly- add a 1/2 cup more liquid. Blend once more on high speed for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

    Kids Love This Smoothie

All 8 of my kids love this smoothie recipe. They really do. I have one that hates smoothies. Fruit scares him and he even admitted that he likes this yogurt strawberry banana smoothie.

It was so good, my Dakota had to finish the leftovers straight out of the blender. I would say this is definitely a winner!

    You need a good blender.

Now that we have talked all about these strawberry smoothies, make sure you invest in a good blender.

I have a Vitamix and I love it. It is old and is still going on strong. It is quite the investment to get one, but it is one investment that wont disappoint. It will be the last blender you ever had to buy. Amazon has several of them on sale right now for a great price.

Now if a Vitamix isnt in your budget, then I recommend a Waring professional blender. They are going to get the job done. Now they are not as great as a Vitamix, but they are the next best for a much more reasonable cost. Amazon has several Waring blenders on sale right now.

Either way, I know you will be able to enjoy a delicious and smooth fruit smoothie with one of these blenders.

  • Finally, add ice if you need it to make it thicker or colder. Blend again until it is the desired consistency.

Because there are an infinite amount of yogurts to choose from, I want to include some alternatives to plain Greek yogurt, which is what Im using here. You can add full-fat or low-fat yogurt, or whatever fat percentage you prefer.

What You Will Need To Make Fruit And Yogurt Smoothies

As Im sure youve guessed, youll need fruit, yogurt, and a liquid of some sort. More specifically, youll need a fresh fruit. Here, Ive chosen a HUGE Tommy Atkins mango. To chill the smoothie so its not warm and unappetizing, you need frozen fruit. I always keep a bag of Goya frozen fruit pulp- this ones guava, which is tart. Yogurt is also needed, but later in the post, Ill give you options on how to switch things up with this ingredient. Finally, youll need some sort of liquid to get things moving in the blender. That ingredient can be water, juice, or nectar.
