San Marco Tropical Smoothie Cafe To Remodel Reopen

The owner of the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in San Marco intends to remodel the restaurant that has been closed since a fire in August.

Skyline Construction Inc. is the contractor for the $180,000 job to renovate the 2,087-square-foot structure at 1808 Hendricks Ave.

Plans show a new kitchen plan, décor and furniture. GHA Architecture/Development of Dallas is the architect.

Dyne Hospitality Group of Little Rock, Arkansas, is the tenant.

Laura McKinney, director of real estate and construction for Dyne Hospitality, said the cafe has been closed since a fire in August when a motor in a freezer caught fire during the night.

McKinney said Dyne Hospitality has been working on the insurance claim to remodel and reopen. It hopes to start construction in a couple of weeks and reopen in late April.

This is a full renovation, she said by email. We are gutting to the walls, replacing old water and sewer lines, and bringing everything up to current building and ADA codes.

She said the cost of $180,000 might rise during the work. She wasnt sure of the seat count.

McKinney said Dyne Hospitality also will paint the exterior and update the landscaping.

Tropical Smoothie will add a smoothie bar where customers can sit and watch the smoothies being made, she said. It is a standard feature at all new Tropical Smoothie Cafes.

Dyne Hospitality Group: Lessons In Values And Growth

On the second floor of an innovative facility in Nocatee resides an office for one of the biggest successes the restaurant industry has seen in the past decade. Its story is a testament to the fruits of hard work, faith and a commitment to the betterment of others.

DYNE Hospitality Group owns and operates 94 Tropical Smoothie Café franchise restaurants across six states, making it the largest franchisee in the nation. But that number will soon be old news Dyne opens between 15 and 18 new locations annually.

Its headquarters are in Little Rock, Arkansas, but the local office at the link a much celebrated business address and cultural centerpiece is the base of operations for DYNE co-founder and co-CEO Nick Crouch.

At 37, Crouch has achieved the kind of success dreamt of by many an entrepreneur. But to understand that success, one must understand his work ethic and philosophy.

Born and raised in Columbia, Missouri, Crouchs first job in the restaurant industry was washing dishes at the age of 15. He earned a business degree from the University of Central Missouri and, as a golfing enthusiast, he moved to California, where he earned a degree in golf complex operations management and got a job at an extremely high-end club in Rancho Santa Fe.

It wasnt quite the career hed hoped it would be. Golf pros dont make their living playing the game. But it brought him into contact with very successful people, the kind who could afford to fly in by helicopter for 18 holes.
