Make A Coconut Smoothie

The 23 Best Ideas for Frozen Fruit Smoothie Recipes with ...

Coconuts flesh is among the most versatile plant-based foods that you can eat, and its also ideal for your smoothies!

While many of you will argue that coconut is a fruit, its variety of applications in meal preparation makes it impossible to be categorized as such.

The fiber content found in coconut meat is comparable to that of most fruits at 14% of the daily dietary allowance.

And despite its 60% fat content, coconut flakes are zero cholesterol and low in sodium.

Protein in forms of 18 amino acids can also be found in coconut meat, further making it nutrient-dense edible plant food.

Depending on how it is prepared, dried coconut can have more or less 130 calories per ¼ cup serving although the other nutrients it contains as well as those of the rest of ingredients can easily offset this amount.

Adding coconut by-products such as butter, cream, shreds, and flour to your smoothies can give you a rich texture that is occasionally grainy, yet easily drinkable.

Below is a list of coconut derivatives that you can add to your smoothie at a ¼ cup per single serving of the beverage.

How To Freeze Fruit For Smoothies

To make smoothies even easier, freeze fresh fruit into portions. You can even prepare smoothie packs and freeze them for a grab-and-blend smoothie option.

To freeze fruit for smoothies, rinse and chop fresh fruit into small pieces. Pat them dry then arrange, in one layer, on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Slide the baking sheet into the freezer and freeze until hard .

When the fruit is hard, divide it between freezer-safe bags and keep it in the freezer for your next smoothie.

Make A Yogurt Smoothie

Yogurts that are made from plant-based food such as beans and nuts are healthier than fruits in the sense that they are rich in protein and calcium, which are macronutrients necessary for maintaining a sound healthy body.

For less than a hundred calories, plant-based yogurts are relatively lower than most fruits in terms of calorie content.

Up to 10% of the recommended daily allowance of calcium can be obtained from soy-based yogurt, and approximately 3 grams of protein per 100 grams serving can be accumulated as well.

Almond yogurt, on the other hand, is usually fortified to contain additional calcium and higher protein content.

Coconut yogurt, while low in protein, is also low in sugar which can help you avoid dangerous levels of blood glucose.

Additionally, though fruits seldom contain healthy fats, plant-based yogurts have them in sufficient amounts to contribute to a sustainable diet.

Since most yogurts are dense, they can lend creaminess and thickness to the smoothies, which is ideal for preventing a watered-down version of the beverage.

So instead of going for water, opt for 1 cup of any of the following yogurts to add into your smoothie.

  • Soy Yogurt
  • Coconut Yogurt

Choosing Fresh Or Frozen Fruits And Vegetables

When it comes to what goes in your smoothie, only you can decide. There are no wrong answers here!

Pros of Fresh Fruit & Vegetables: Its a great way to use up fruit that is no longer visually appealing, but still tastes good. Think browning bananas, soft strawberries, blackberries so ripe they are falling apart. All still have good flavor, but arent what youd pick first out of the fruit basket on the counter.

Cons of Fresh Fruit & Vegetables: You have to make your smoothies on your fruits schedule, not your own. If those fresh fruits no longer taste good, they wont make your smoothie taste good. If the fruit is underripe, it will be harder to blend and may not make for the smoothest smoothie.

Pros of Frozen Fruit& Vegetables: Frozen fruit makes a thicker texture that stays colder longer without watering down the flavor. Most frozen fruit is picked at peak ripeness. You can have summer blackberries in January or tree ripe peaches in March. Also, unless you are shopping an in-season market stand, frozen fruit is usually cheaper than fresh.

Cons of Frozen Fruit& Vegetables: If you arent using a high power blender, frozen solid fruit may be more than it can handle. While my Vitamix does just fine with it, my stick blender would leave frozen fruit in chunks. Let the frozen fruit thaw on the counter for 10 minutes or so before making your smoothie.

How Do You Make A Smoothie Without Milk Or Yogurt

How to Make Frozen Fruit Smoothie Recipe

As you have read above, the best way is to use high liquid fruits and vegetables along with water, as necessary.

So what are the best high liquid fruits and veggies to use?

High water content fruits and vegetables

Below are some of my favorite high water content fruits and vegetables to add to smoothies.

  • pineapple
  • peaches
  • apples

My personal favorites to add are cucumber , apples , and citrus fruits.

Pineapple, peaches, oranges, and lemons are all bursting with juiciness and great for replacing the liquid in smoothies.

Here are the steps that I take when making a smoothie without milk or yogurt:

Add liquid or liquid fruits and vegetables to the blender FIRST.

blend until smooth.

Add remaining ingredients and blend again until smooth.

Depending on the strength of your blender, you can skip step 2 and just mix all of the ingredients at once.

However, sometimes I find it helpful to blend the liquid parts first in order for the blender to handle the frozen fruit well.

How To Make Smoothies Without Yogurt

Figuring out how to make smoothies without yogurt is easy as long as youve got a few replacement ingredients on hand. First off, one of the king substitutes for yogurt in smoothies has to be coconut milk. It is full of fat and gives you that nice creamy texture that you get from typical yogurt smoothies. Also, it gives you a nice little undertone of coconut and sweetness so you dont need to add extra sugar.

You can also stock up on nut milks like almond milk, cashew milk, and hazelnut milk. Additionally, for people who can handle soy, you can also utilize soy milk. Although the milks are thinner in consistency than yogurt, you still get that creaminess when you whip them up with other ingredients. Additionally, using nut butter will give you amazing flavors, healthy fats, and protein as well as that super creaminess.

And finally lets not forget the star ingredients of our smoothies: fruits and veggies. But all fruits and veggies are not created equally when it comes to consistency. Some have a lot more water while others give you more starches that can result in a creamy consistency when they are mixed up in a blender. Avocadoes are fantastic for smoothies due to their fat content and texture. Additionally, frozen bananas, zucchini, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes can also be added to smoothie recipes without yogurt to get that silky texture you crave.

Choose Your Liquid Smoothie Base

Fruit Smoothie WITHOUT MILK Brains& TheBeat

Add 1 cup of any of the following liquids as your smoothie base.

If using tea, youll have to brew it first or steep the bags in hot water before transferring the liquid into the blender.

Occasionally youll find green tea powders more convenient as youll only have to pour the contents into the blender and blend it with the rest of the ingredients.

Non-dairy milk alone is likely to thin out the smoothie, so it is necessary to couple it with fillers that will help thicken the consistency.

Finally, with water kefir, it is somewhat thinner than a yogurt yet more forgiving on people who have lactose intolerances and allergies due to its incredible strain.

Bear in mind that coconut milk from a can has a significant amount of calories, so if you choose this option, you can probably avoid adding any nuts, or other high calorie foods to your smoothie.

That said, heres a list of liquid bases you can use for your smoothies:

  • Water

What Do I Use To Sweeten A Smoothie

All of these smoothies here use frozen fruit as a base, which adds a nice baseline of sweetness that you can build on if your tastebuds would like. My recommendation is to blend up your smoothie without any added sweetener, then taste. Add in honey or maple syrup to taste. Many times, I dont need to add anything! Another great natural option for sweetening: pitted Medjool dates. Throw in one or two of those bad boys and let the blender do its thing. Youd be amazed at how sweet your smoothie will be!

How Can You Control Diabetes Naturally

As I said, there are two different types of diabetes. In both cases, the problem is that blood sugar is rising, but the reasons are different:

  • Type 1 diabetes: Persons suffering from this disease have the problem that their pancreas does not produce insulin, because the cells of this organ no longer function well and are therefore referred to as insulin-dependent.In these cases, sufferers need more insulin in their body. Therefore, they should inject this hormone daily and regulate the amounts each time.
  • Type 2 Diabetes: In this state, the body becomes insulin resistant, does not use it properly, or does not produce enough. This type of diabetes occurs even more frequently, as it usually occurs acquired and refers to an unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle and obesity.

If there is any doubt as to whether diabetes can be treated or controlled naturally, the answer is that it depends on the type. Insulin injection is essential in type 1 diabetes. It also controls a little what type of diet is followed. This is always recommended by the specialist. In contrast, with type 2 diabetes, ways can be found to combat or even combat it, with food, exercise, medical and natural treatments. Therefore, natural treatment is truly effective for those who suffer from the second type of disease.read more

How To Make A Smoothie Bowl

Strawberry Smoothie Without Yogurt

I freeze leftover fruits in a snack size ziplock bag, which is about a serving of fruit. That way I always have frozen fruit ready to go. You can also buy frozen fruit from your local store.

For a full bowl, I use 2 snack bags, two of the same fruit, like banana, or a blend of banana and mango, for example.

Then I add non-dairy milk like almond milk or coconut milk, especially the canned coconut milk, because it adds a rich and creamy texture to the smoothie bowls! What you want is a texture kinda like frozen yogurt or sorbet. Umm, yeah, its pretty much disguised sorbet, lets be honest haha!

Then I go to town with toppings, especially fresh fruit and some superfoods, like shredded coconut, chia seeds and hemp seeds, to start my morning with fuel!
