Tropical Smoothie Cafe is offering a new smoothie blend with nutrient-packed ingredients.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe is offering a roasted smoothie blend with nutrient-packed ingredients designed as a get-up-and-go meal option, according to a company press release. The Chia Banana Boost Smoothie blends almonds, cinnamon, whole grain oats, dates, coconut and oven-roasted bananas and chia seeds. Guests may also add late summer strawberries, peaches or peanut butter to the Chia Banana Boost.

“Chia seeds have a long history as a super food,” said Lisa Dimson, CMO of Tropical Smoothie Cafe. “Just one serving of the Chia add-in delivers 2 grams of fiber, 1 gram of protein, a great punch of Omega 3s, and lots of antioxidants all with just 30 calories. We know our consumers are searching for superfoods and other better-for-you options so we’re not surprised our consumers are reacting so favorably to the Chia Banana Boost.”

Often regarded as a favorite pre-race snack by distance runners and fabled to be the ancient Mayan’s secret ingredient for strength and energy, chia seeds have started appearing in a number of pre-packaged health foods.

Chia Banana Boost Tropical Smoothie Copycat Recipe

I am very excited to be creating a copycat recipe of my favorite Tropical Smoothie menu item, the Chia Banana Boost Smoothie.

I dont know about you, but protein-packed smoothies are an absolute necessity if I want to start my day off right. Im not really a breakfast person and Im usually rushing around because I love milking every minute of my sleep . So preparing a balanced breakfast for myself would be hilariously far-fetched. Im pretty sure that families sitting around a table eating breakfast before heading off to work, sadly only happens in the movies in 2019. But I would also die if I went to work without fueling my body at all. So throwing 6-8 items in a blender is my favorite solution. Then I keep my large smoothie in a insulated stainless steel bottle and drink it throughout my morning, sometimes through lunch.

One of my new favorite smoothies at Tropical Smoothie is their Chia Banana Boost . It calls for roasted bananas. This may seem like an ironic ingredient considering that I make my smoothies in a hurry, but I make a bunch of roasted bananas when I have free time in the evenings or weekends, let them cool and then freeze them.

More About This Tropical Banana Smoothie Recipe

As I said earlier, for the key to this smoothie being so rich and creamy and so delicious is to use frozen fruit. Ive always used this tutorial for freezing my own fruit at home and it always turns out great.

I really think the combination of banana, mango and pineapple is the ultimate tropical trifecta. But if you arent feeling that combination, Ive made this smoothie by subbing out the mango or pineapple for frozen strawberries. Just make sure you keep that frozen banana in there!

And those chias! I add some sort of super seed to just about everything I eat. Why not, right? The chia seeds give this tropical banana smoothie kind of a weird colour but that discolouration is totally worth it! But you can leave them out or add more in to get even more fibre, good fat and protein.

I use my NutriBullet for all my smoothies and I love it. I seriously use that every day and would highly recommend one for any smoothie-fanatic. But any blender or even food processor will do for this tropical banana smoothie.
