Almond Milk Contains Both Calcium And Vitamin D
Almond milk is often enriched with vitamin D and calcium, which are extremely important nutrients. The latter represents a mineral that plays a vital role in keeping bones healthy and reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. On the other hand, vitamin D is a nutrient that is hardly ever found in food. Instead, your body produces it when your skin is exposed to sunlight. This vitamin also promotes bone health. Apart from that, it can reduce the risk of diabetes, and may even lower the risk for various types of cancer.

Berries Greek Yogurt Smoothie Recipe
Apart from Greek yogurt, this smoothie contains three different types of berries. These fruits are essential for boosting cognitive function and keeping mental illness at bay. One of the main reasons they have a positive impact on your mental health is due to their anthocyanidin content, which is a type of flavonoid present almost exclusively in berries. They can also improve your cardiovascular health by improving the function of your arteries. Berries are able to aid in blood pressure control and may even keep blood from clotting. They may also keep your skin healthy thanks to the amount of antioxidants they contain. Antioxidants are basically compounds that help protect and repair your cells from damage caused by free radicals.
What Youll Need
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

- 2 tablespoons oats
How to Prepare
Pour the Greek yogurt in the blender and then add the remaining ingredients. Blend for two minutes. In case you want to make this healthy yogurt smoothie sweeter consider adding one or two tablespoons of agave nectar. This recipe is for two servings.

Blueberry Almond Greek Yogurt Smoothie
Guys, this Blueberry Almond Greek Yogurt Smoothie isnât just one of my newest smoothie recipes, but I really think itâs one of my best. If youâve been around here awhile, you know Iâm a big fan of smoothies, and thatâs not about to change as the cooler weather starts to roll in. My Blueberry Almond Greek Yogurt Smoothie is light and refreshing, just as a good smoothie should be, but itâs got a little bit more depth to it with the addition of almond butter and greek yogurt. Not only are these two ingredients flavor powerhouses in a smooth, but theyâre both packed with healthy fats and protein to keep you full!
Hereâs what you need for this Blueberry Almond Greek Yogurt Smoothie:
- Almond milkâ you can also use your favorite milk, but I like to use almond milk to keep it dairy free
- Greek yogurt
Berry Yogurt Smoothie Ingredients
Berries: It all starts with frozen berries. Any type will do. As you can see, Ive used a mix of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. It was a berry mix that I picked up in the grocery stores freezer section. Any combination works well here. Mix and match your favorites, or use all of one kind if you prefer.
Yogurt: Next, add in your unsweetened non-dairy yogurt of choice. Use plain or vanilla flavored. If using the plain flavor, you may like to add a splash of vanilla extract or ½ teaspoon of ground vanilla to the mixture before mixing.
Banana: To add a banana or not? Ive made this smoothie both ways, with and without a banana, and I must say the one with the banana was the better of the two. I used a room temp banana, which added extra creaminess and made it slightly less icy. It will also add some bulk and extra added nutrition. If you have one on hand, by all means, add it in!
Non-Dairy Milk: Lastly, youll want to add about ½ cup of unsweetened non-dairy milk or water to help get everything moving in the mixer, adding an extra splash or two as needed.
Toppings: Some optional toppings to consider are frozen berries, granola, cocoa nibs, and coconut flakes, to name a few.

How To Serve A Strawberry Smoothie
For less melting, place glass cups in the refrigerator before making the smoothies. This will help them maintain their cool temperature longer.
One recipe will yield two medium sized smoothies, so be sure to have glasses on hand when the smoothies are ready! Use a thicker straw if possible, or give kids a spoon to eat the smoothie until it melts slightly.

Berry Spinach Smoothie Recipe
This Berry Spinach Smoothie is the perfect healthy way to start your day! Its full of vitamins and antioxidants and tastes amazing, too!
Happy Valentines Day! I hope youre all enjoying your day and that its filled with hearts, flowers, love, and CHOCOLATE!
Valentines fun aside, my kiddos and I have been a little under the weather for the past couple of days.
Sore throats, runny noses, not sleeping wellall of which leads to just feeling plain ole exhausted. This is my baby girls first time ever being sick. Iit makes me so sad to see her feeling all puny, and listening to her little baby snuffles.
My son is the same way. Whenever he gets sick, its ALWAYS in his chest. He will wake up coughing and crying, and sometimes we just have to spend the night sitting in the bathroom with the hot water turned on while the steam works its magic. After a night like that, we need a little whole food healing power.
I love smoothies for breakfast during the week, and theyre especially great when youre not feeling well and dont have much of an appetite. Even if regular-chewable food doesnt seem all that palatable, a nice cold smoothie is a great way to make sure youre still getting some good nutrition. Plus its a little easier on a sore throat than your typical breakfast fare.
Hope this finds you in happy, healthy spirits wherever you are. And if youve got a little case of the winter sickies, give this smoothie a try. It might just help kick that cold to the curb.

Can You Store This Yogurt Smoothie
Smoothies are best eaten immediately. This peach smoothie lasts 1 day refrigerated, stored in a sealed container or a mason jar with the lid on. It may separate, which is perfectly natural. Just shake it up and youre good to go! After 1 day, it starts to lose flavor: so we dont recommend storing for longer. Storing smoothies is helpful for breakfasts on the go: mix it up the night before, then grab it in the morning.
What Should I Add To My Smoothie
While this creamy strawberry blueberry banana smoothie is plenty good as is, there are some fun add ins to try! These options either add flavor or health benefits to your smoothie so get creative and experiment to find what you like.
Flaxseed / Chia Seeds: Both are great sources of healthy fats and fiber with minimal flavor. Id suggest blending the flaxseeds into the actual smoothie and then sprinkling the chia seeds overtop, almost like sprinkles!
Hemp Seeds: Another great source of healthy fats and plant based protein too. You can blend these into the smoothie or sprinkle on top, either way theyre super easy to add!
Protein Powder While I personally dont use protein powder you can certainly add it to this smoothie. Just adjust the flavor as needed and find the balance that works for you. Suggestions from friends of mine who use protein powder include: Nuzest and Aloha, both are plant based / vegan too!
Nut Butter I looove to add peanut, almond, or cashew butter to my smoothies for extra thickness + flavor. You could use any nut / seed butter that youd like, my personal favorite for this smoothie is peanut butter though because its almost like a PB & J smoothie?!
Spinach If you want an extra boost, add some spinach. Id suggest starting with 1/4 cup and tasting along the way, the sweetness from the fruit should cover up the flavor of the spinach. Also, the smoothie color may change to a muted brown instead of purple so keep that in mind.
