Tropical Smoothie Cafe Has Big Plans For The Future
While for many people, competitors like Jamba may have lots of name recognition, Tropical Smoothie Cafe is, in fact, one of the larger chains in the nation, and it’s growing fast, too.
“We’re now seeing a big acceleration in the business in 2021,” Charles Watson said, “and I think we’re right on pace. We’re going to open 130 cafes on top of in 2020, so we’re a brand that’s growing going forward.”
At present, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has a presence in 44 states, but Watson and his team could have their eyes all 50 in the near future. And while the chain is slated to open its 1,000th location later this year, in the next few years, the growth is not going to slacken in any way. “Our goal is to get to 1,500 cafes by 2024. I think we’re well on our way. And this is a brand that you’re going to be hearing a lot more about,” Watson said.
To what does the CEO of the company attribute the success? By in large to the fact that, even as it grows as a whole, it remains a local business thanks to its franchise model. “I would tell you that what has ultimately driven this brand is our franchisees and it is our culture,” Watson explained, adding: “Yes, it has a brand name on it, but it is Bill and Sally Smith on the corner and they’re entrepreneurs. And so the way that they impact the communities where they operate is a really big part.” And of course, according to Watson, the chain’s Chipotle Chicken Club flatbread is certainly a draw.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe Adds Smoothies To Summer Menu
Tropical Smoothie Cafe welcomes summer with the return of its popular Watermelon Mojito Smoothie and addition of the new Mango Berry Cosmo Smoothie, now available at participating US locations for a limited time.
The Watermelon Mojito Smoothie, inspired by refreshing summer cocktails, is made with fresh watermelon, strawberries, fresh mint and lime, while the Mango Berry Cosmo Smoothie is a nonalcoholic twist on the classic cosmo with mango, strawberries, cranberries and lime. Both are served with a SORBOS edible lime-flavored straw for a unique, tangy, citrus finish.

Detox Island Green Smoothie
The variety of Tropical Smoothie Cafes smoothies has gone a long way from their days on the Florida beaches. There are now over two dozen superfood and classic smoothies to choose from.
The ingredients of smoothies vary, but many include vegetables, fruits, nuts, nut butter, seeds, non-fat yogurts, fruit juices, and vitamins.
The Detox Island Green smoothie of Tropical Smoothie Cafe has the lowest calorie content and is a fan favorite.
It comes with kale, spinach, mango, banana, pineapple, and ginger, and each serving of this healthy drink contains 180 calories, 43 carbs, 35 milligrams of sodium, 4 grams protein, and is fat-free.
Aside from that, it is packed with fiber and contains lower amounts of sugar than the rest of the Tropical Smoothie Cafe smoothie menu.
Jamacian Jerk Chicken Quesadilla

Jamaican Jerk Chicken rocks my world. It rocks my world no matter hows its served over rice, in a salad or in a quesadilla. I think its safe to say that I love Jamaican jerk seasoning. The Jamaican Jerk seasoning is just a combination of allspice, scotch bonnet peppers to give it that extra zing, cloves, nutmeg, thyme, cinnamon and of course garlic!
Last year we went to Jamaica and came home with about 5 different blends of jerk seasoning, not to mention the best tan I had ever had in the entire world. In fact, I need to go back. Immediately. I am fairly certain I cant get a tan that fabulous in California, so its only right that I hop on a plane and head back to Jamaica for some sunshine, jerk chicken and a Caribbean breeze cocktail or two okay maybe more like 10.
Anyway, I digress back to my quesadilla. I whipped up some of these this past weekend for lunch! They were especially delicious because I used my current favorite cheese Havarti. Omg. Its awesome. The cheese is just awesome. It is a great cheese in quesadillas because it melts like a champ and its so creamy and delicious and perfect. Try it. Trust me.

It seems like I want to include it in every meal, probably because fruit just seems to taste that much better when they are in season. As a result, I try to incorporate it in new and fun ways into as many things as I can, such as Ive done here.
The mango salsa you make for these is to die for. Really. I had to stop myself from eating this by the spoonful it was THAT good. Make extra if you want to snack on some, and trust me you will want to snack on some.
