  • Frozen Berry Options Any frozen fruit can be used to replace berries in this smoothie. You can also use a premade blend of fruit. Ive tried a berry mix that also has cherries and is really delicious.
  • Add Frozen Banana Im listing banana seperartly from the rest of the fruit because banana will make your smoothie creamier and thicker. I usually like adding half of a frozen banana to a smoothie, but you may need to add a little more milk or water to even out the smoothie. When I have a ripe banana that is at its end, I throw it in the freezer for smoothies later.
  • Add Ice Adding ice to the smoothie can thicken your smoothie a little bit more quickly and easily.
  • Add Nut Butter For more of a peanut butter jelly vibe, try adding a tablespoon or two of peanut butter, cashew butter or your favorite nut butter.

Adding Protein To A Smoothie

Greek yogurt is a great way to add protein to a smoothie.

When I was pregnant with Greyson, I kept track of how many grams of protein a day I ate.

I was shocked the first time I tracked greek yogurt. Its a great way to add in flavor and protein to a smoothie!

Greek yogurt smoothies have become one of my favorites for breakfasts and snacks alike.

Other easy ways to add protein to a smoothie are through adding a whole banana or through leafy greens like spinach.

How Do You Make A Mixed Berry Smoothie

This mixed berry smoothie is simply frozen berries, banana, vanilla Greek yogurt, liquid of your choice, and sweetener if you desire. I buy bags of mixed frozen berries and always have a few in the freezer for when a smoothie craving strikes. I typically make these smoothies with apple juice as it eliminates the need to add any sweetener later on. Other liquid choices are skim milk, almond milk, coconut milk or even a cranberry juice would be nice. When I do sweeten smoothies, I typically reach for a little honey. Like I said, its really not needed here if youre using juice, but you may want to add some if you go with a less sweet liquid like skim milk.

I have an insanely picky 3 year old, and on days when I cant get her to eat more than 2 bites of anything, these mixed berry smoothies are a lifesaver. Nutrients, protein, fiber and they happen to be her favorite color, bright pink! So while this may be a simple recipe, its definitely worthy of sharing for all of you out there who are trying to get your families to eat healthier. Hope you enjoy!

What Are The Optional Ingredients In This Recipe

The optional ingredients in this recipe only effect the overall flavor a little. The smoothie will still be delicious without these ingredients. Instead they give your smoothie more nutrtional punch.

  • Chia Seeds Chia seeds are completly optional but add a lot of fiber and protein to a smoothie, plus add a plant based omega 3 fatty acids which is a vitamin many of us need more of. Learn more about some of the benefits of adding chia seeds here.
  • Protein PowderThis is my favorite protein powder, I always have some in the house. It has a clean vanilla flavor but my favorite part is that its not chalky tasting. I havent tried the other flavors but they have many other flavors too. Let me know if you try any! If you dont have protein powder you can leave it out of the recipe and it will still taste delicious.

Healthy Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie

Healthy Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie is refreshing and delicious!

My Healthy Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie only requires five ingredients and is a great addition to a nutritious menu.

We eat a lot of blueberries and were looking for different ways to eat them.

And so I thought, why not put them into a yogurt based smoothie.

Since March 2021 Lee and I have drastically changed the way we eat, drink, sleep and exercise.

This has helped us to lose weight.

About 35 pounds for me and about 20 pounds for Lee, so far.

One of the changes I made was to add more fruit to our diet.

We had been eating just toast for breakfast. We top it with avocado, whipped cream cheese, and occasionally peanut butter.

I added blueberries and other fruits to our menu.

We each eat a half cup of blueberries every. single. morning.

This Healthy Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie uses 1 cup of blueberries and makes two servings, so it is an ideal substitute for our regular fruit.

We also have a mid-morning snack that consists of a serving of fruit and a reduced-fat cheese stick.

Healthy Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie is not a real thick smoothie making it ideal to drink in a short amount of time.

It is also perfect to take on-the-go!

Blueberries are rich in Vitamin K.

According to WebMD, Blueberries are one of the best natural sources of antioxidants.

While antioxidants arent necessary for your body to function, they help protect your body from damage by free radicals.

Simple Frozen Mixed Berry Smoothie Recipe With Greek Yogurt

This frozen mixed berry smoothie is fast, simple, nutritious, and delicious just the way I like them! It is the perfect afternoon or morning snack and comes together in just minutes. I love the extra protein from the Greek yogurt.

This is made up of few ingredients and is jam-packed full flavor. I love how easy it is to make. Drinking healthy doesnt need to be complicated. I buy huge bags of frozen berries and big tubs of Greek yogurt at Costco and it makes this recipe affordable and easy.

If you have a hard time not drinking sugar-filled drinks or if sodas are your kryptonite, now you can make this super-simple smoothie instead and finally kick that bad habit.

This makes for a fantastic breakfast and also a delicious snack. Whenever Im feeling hungry in the middle of the day, I quickly turn to this recipe and feel satisfied almost immediately.

This is also a great way to get children to eat their fruit – sometimes I even add a little spinach so they get a little vegetable in there. As long as I don’t put too much it doesn’t even look or taste different than without the spinach.

It seems like I pretty much always have leftovers of smoothie too. It just seems to multiply when I’m making it so my favorite trick with a leftover smoothie is to put it in popsicle molds and have delicious, healthy popsicles the next day.

Tips And Tricks For The Creamiest Smoothie

Mixed Berries Yogurt Smoothie | Dietplan-101.com
    • Add the liquids first adding the liquids to your smoothie first will help everything to blend more evenly which will give you a smoother and creamier smoothie.
    • Use frozen fruit frozen fruit helps to keep the smoothie creamy and cold without the use of any ice.
    • Ditch the ice speaking of ice, the pitfall of a lot of smoothies is the use of ice. Ice waters down the smoothie changes the consistency from creamy to icy and just does not give you that delicious smooth texture that everyone loves.
    • Use ripe fruit if its the summer, when fruit is its best and in season, I highly recommend freezing ripe fresh fruit instead of buying pre-frozen fruit from the freezer section. It will make your smoothie even more flavorful and delicious.

My kids could definitely be called picky eaters, but I never have to struggle to convince my kids to eat yogurt or fruit. In fact, both are considered to be a delicious to treat and a favorite for snack. Sometimes it is fun to mix things up a bit, literally. I recently made this Mixed Berry Smoothie to share with my three year old, Wesley for breakfast using one the easy to clean Ninja Ultimate Blender cups. It was the perfect size for an adult and child.

I was able to use ingredients I had on hand including some Dole frozen mixed berries from my freezer and Chobani yogurt from my fridge.

    Mixed Berry Smoothie Ingredients

A mixed berry smoothie is made with a mix of different berries and yogurt. I like to add strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. However, if you are out of any one of them, you can simply skip it and work with what you have.

To give a natural sweetness to the smoothie, a banana works well. If needed, I add a low glycemic index sweetener like blue agave for additional sweetness.

This mixed berry smoothie can be easily made vegan by using non-dairy yogurt, almond milk, or just plain fruit juice like orange or apple juice.

I also like to add soaked chia seeds to my smoothies as they are highly nutritious.
