How To Make The Best Banana Smoothie

HOW TO MAKE A EASY SMOOTHIE USING FROZEN FRUIT ð¥ð?ð??

My basic smoothie recipe calls for four simple ingredients:

Banana I use one banana to make one large or two smaller smoothies. For the best tasting smoothie, use a ripe banana. For the creamiest banana smoothie, use frozen banana slices. Ive shared how I freeze bananas for smoothies below.

Half an orange When I have oranges in the house, I love adding them to my morning smoothie. It adds extra vitamin C and tropical flavor. If you dont have oranges on hand, dont worry, you can substitute other fruits like mango, pineapple, and berries.

Plain or Greek yogurt I dont always add yogurt to my smoothies, but when I do have it in the fridge, adding a spoonful ensures a protein-packed and creamy smoothie. For a smoothie without yogurt, add a little extra fruit or include veggies like spinach or kale.

Water or milk To help the ingredients blend, I like adding a splash of liquid to the blender. For a smoothie without milk, use water. It still tastes amazing. For more creaminess add milk .

To make the smoothie, I add everything into a blender and then blend until smooth. For an icy cold smoothie, throw in a handful of ice or use frozen fruits.

Fresh Fruits And Vegetables

People are always telling you to eat your vegetables and fruits. Theres no more delicious way to do it than in a smoothie. You can use ingredients that are tasty and ingredients that are good for you. In most cases theyre the same ingredients!

Among favorite fruits are berries, papaya, melon, pineapple, bananas, mango, kiwi, mandarin oranges, cherries and peaches. To ensure a smooth consistency to the final product, its best to peel them. The blending will go better if theyre cut small. Even most strawberries should be cut no larger than in half.

One of the top vegetable choices is spinach. Kale is another option. If you can, cut out the fibrous veins. Theyll tend to create a layer of foam atop your final product. Well see ways to fix that when we get to the blending step.

It doesnt take a whole lot of greens to make the entire smoothie green. Some people like that look and some dont. There are certain mixes of greens and fruits that will yield a brownish color. It will still taste good, but you may want your smoothie to look pretty as well.

You can use smashed or pureed vegetables to make your smoothie creamier. Best choices are sweetish veggies such a pumpkin, sweet potato and butternut squash. Also, avocado is already creamy and just needs to be sliced up.

About half an avocado is right for the average smoothie. Save the other half for chips to eat along with your drink.

Water In Smoothies Really

Yes, it is true you can have an excellent smoothie experience with water. Whenever we think of smoothies, it comes with yogurt, almond milk, coconut water or at least milk. It is impossible for us to imagine this beverage with water.

However, if you know how to make a smoothie with water and fruit, you can have all the health benefits with taste. The water itself is refreshing. When you add it in your fruits and veggies blends, the beverage becomes refreshing too.

Moreover, water maximizes nutrition intake. It helps to dissolve all the goodness of smoothies so that your body can absorb it. If you are thinking of losing weight, take water-based smoothies. It will only cut your plump without cutting down nourishment.

Let us look at the 5 reasons that will make you add water in your next smoothie fest.

What Kind Of Frozen Vegetables Are Best For Smoothies

Most vegetables should be great in smoothies, but some will just overpower everything else you put in therefrozen or fresh. That might not be a bad thing if you like the taste of vegetables, but everyone has different tastes and some might not like an obvious veggie taste.

If you want to hide your frozen veggies in your smoothies to get their nutrition without their taste, then its best to pair light flavored fruits like apples and persimmons with light flavored veggies like spinach and lettuce. However, if you want to hide stronger flavored veggies like kale and cauliflower, then youll need stronger fruits like oranges or even use berries.

The seeds of some berries might not be fully blended, even with a high-powered blender, because they are so small. If you see seeds in your smoothie, then its most likely from the berries. If you dont want the seeds, you can try to strain them with a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. It should be noted though that this can sometimes be quite messy. Perhaps its wise to only attempt this over the sink.

If you dont have a very powerful blender, you may have to cut certain veggies smaller so they can get properly incorporated into your smoothie. While frozen veggies tend to be a little harder to cut than fresh veggies, another way to get smaller pieces is to put the frozen veggies into a bag and just smash them. Mmm, tasty veggie shards.

Why Frozen Fruits For A Smoothie

Frozen Fruit Smoothie

No doubt, freezing fruits is a wonderful solution to prevent them from rotting or overripe, which ends up you throwing them away. And you can keep them freezing whenever wanting to make smoothies.

Its also the best choice for diet-routine people. No need to add ice nor added sugar to make it sweet. Nothing can be more enjoyable than the natural sweetness from fruits.

Not to say that frozen fruits give a thicker texture which is very addictive to enjoy. Everyone, especially the kids, will unstoppably drink it.

Frozen Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Frozen fruit can always be found stocked in our freezer.

When that moment strikes and I have literally NOTHING else to make, a frozen fruit smoothie can always save the day.

It doesnt even matter what fresh or frozen fruits Im working with. They can ALL be turned into a creamy and delicious smoothie.

That is, if you have this basic formula on hand.

I would never leave you hanging, though. In addition to this simple guide, youll also find a few recipes you can start off with and then add in all of the nuts, seeds, milks, juices, yogurts, and protein powders your heart desires.

Because after you finish reading this post, youll never need me again. Well, at least not when it comes to making incredible frozen fruit smoothies!

How To Make It

  • Put the ingredients in a blender and whir it up!
  • This will make two large smoothies.
  • Unlike baking recipes, for instance, smoothie recipes do not have to use exact measurements. You can adjust according to taste. The only difference in choosing between fresh or frozen fruit is how thick you want it to be. Frozen will make for a more milkshake-thick smoothie, whereas fresh will get thickened up slightly by the ice, but have a more liquidy texture. Or you can combine frozen and fresh fruit.

You can use any kind of soft fruit you want, such as berries, bananas, peeled peaches or nectarines, melons, even grapes, and puree, and know you can always add a bit more fruit or ice to thicken it or a bit more milk to thin it out.

How Do You Freeze Fresh Vegetables For Smoothies

While there are a few ways to freeze fresh veggies, the first and foremost thing you absolutely must do is to wash them thoroughly. If you do not wash your vegetables properly, then you can get sick. Since you arent using them for cooking, there isnt that sanitizing heat to kill all the germs that may be on the vegetables.

After washing them thoroughly in hot water, large vegetables such as celery, zucchini, and cauliflower, should be cut up for ease of storage. Smaller vegetables such as spinach can be frozen right away unless of course, you want to cut them up, thats up to you. The smaller they are, the faster and better theyre going to be blended up later.

I highly recommend blanching veggies before freezing, even after washing. Its another step, but it will ensure every germ is dead.

One way to freeze veggies is to store the prepared vegetables in air-tight freezer containers or bags and stick them in the freezer. Sometimes they can stick together, so you might want to separate them into single serving sizes before freezing.

Another way is to stick them into ice trays to freeze. After they are fully frozen, they should be stored in an airtight freezer-safe container. Leaving them in the ice trays isnt recommended, as they may become contaminated by other things that are in the freezer.

How To Make Your Smoothies Taste Better

How to Make a Fruit Smoothie

If youre using too many leafy greens, smoothies can end up tasting too bitter.

Sweet fruits like bananas, pineapples, mango can add lots of natural sweetness to your smoothies.

I especially like bananas and mango , they make almost every smoothie taste better.

Strawberries and oranges can also be a great choice for masking bitter flavors.

If youre just starting with smoothies, you can add honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup to make smoothies taste like a dessert.

Once youre more experienced, you can reduce the amount of sugar in your smoothies and add more leafy greens or other veggies.

The less sugar , the more natural ingredients youll use, the healthier your smoothie will be.

    Raspberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

Raspberry Banana Smoothie is your perfect choice for a fast yet nutrient-included breakfast or a prep meal before the gym. These two fruits are rich in kali, vitamin C, and dietary fibers that meet 50 percent of the body’s daily needs.

Besides this irresistible smoothie is a sweet treat for both adults and children.

Combine ½ cup of frozen raspberries and ½ cup of frozen bananas into the blender. Add up ¾ cup of any milk you like, such as soy milk or almond milk.

Add ¼ cup of plain or vanilla yogurt with a teaspoon of sugar. Blend till the texture frothy. You can top the glass with sliced fruits.

Water Will Turn The Smoothie Into A Liquid

The nutritionistdoes not consider frozen fruit smoothie with yogurt or other dairies as a liquid. The reason is fiber. All the fruits and veggies left behind their fiber when blended. These fibers ensure a more filling impression in your brain. Therefore, you do not feel hungry for a long time.

However, too many dairies with fiber can cause digestive problems. Moreover, it may make you dehydrated. Thus, adding water will turn this fibrous non-liquid into more absorbable and hydrated. Now it will meet the need of your daily dose of water and nutrients.

How To Make A Frozen Fruit Smoothie

Making frozen fruit smoothies isnt rocket science. A little down below, youll find my favorite frozen fruit smoothie recipes.

If you want to create your own smoothie recipes, heres how you can do it.

If you want to avoid the five major mistakes people make when making smoothies, check out this article: How Long Do Smoothies Last?

    1. Start with a Liquid Base

When were making frozen fruit smoothies, we want to start with a base. Its best to always have some liquid in our smoothies. One serving usually needs about ½ 1 cup of liquid. Good options are:

    • filtered water
    • nut milk
    • soy milk, coconut milk, hemp milk, rice milk, etc.
    • dairy milk
    • fruit juice

The lowest calorie version is obviously plain water. Unsweetened nut milk or coconut water can also be a healthy, low-fat, and low-calorie choice.

Adding too much fruit juice may spike your blood sugar levels, so its best not to overdo it.

Also, be careful with coconut milk , as its high in fat and calories.

    2. Add Some Frozen Fruits

After youve chosen your liquid base, its time to add some fruits to your smoothie. Id recommend using both frozen fruits and fresh fruits in smoothies.

If youre using too many frozen ingredients, it can make your smoothie too slushy.

If you dont use any ice or frozen fruits, your smoothie wont taste as good as it could.

Every smoothie I make will have some frozen ingredients in it.

You can completely skip the ice, and add some frozen fruits or veggies instead.

    • berries
    • mango

    Defrosting In The Refrigerator

The frozen fruits can be defrosted in the refrigerator. This is a lengthy process but it works. Typically it takes 6 to 8 hours. If youre in hurry then you shouldnt follow this. If you have time then its okay.

Its better to take only the amount of frozen fruits you need to use. The thawed fruits shouldnt be refrozen. So try not to take an excessive amount of fruits. Otherwise, the leftover fruits will be wasted.

Put the fruits in a bowl or on a plate to avoid dripping. Then keep them in the refrigerator.

Leave the fruits inside the refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours per pound.

Turn the package or fruits every hour to accelerate the process. If you dont do this the fruits may not thaw equally. Moreover, it will take more time.

Note: Keep the temperature of your refrigerator at 40°F or less during the whole process.

    Use The Right Blender

Frozen fruits can be as tough as ice cubes. Therefore, you need a blender that is built to take a beating. Otherwise, youll end up damaging the blades and you will not be able to use the blender optimally anymore.

We have handpicked the best blenders for ice and frozen fruits that work best in this scenario. They are designed with the best machine and the perfect blades to cut through ices while blending your drink smoothly.

Who says great blenders are all expensive? Why Use Frozen Fruit To Make Smoothies

HOW TO MAKE A SMOOTHIE WITH FROZEN FRUIT

Using frozen fruit automatically makes the smoothie thicker and more like a milkshake, which I love!I know some people like to add ice to smoothies, but I personally am not a fan of the watered-down flavor that gives.

I also find that its more convenient to use frozen fruit. I dont know about you, but I dont always have fresh fruit on hand- at least not enough to make enough fruit smoothies for our family of six.

But its easy to buy a couple of bags of frozen fruit and keep them in the freezer!

    Drink It Now Or Later

Most people can hardly wait for their smoothies to be done and want to drink them as soon as they come out of the blender. Pour and scrape it out, grab a spoon or a wide straw and enjoy.

If you let it sit, any froth on top will start to settle. But a thinner smoothie might separate as it sits. This is especially true of green smoothies.

A thick smoothie can last about a day in the refrigerator. After that the flavor and texture will fade. A sealed mason jar is the best way to store it. A plastic wrap over the top of your glass is an OK second choice.

How To Thaw Strawberries Without Making Them Soggy

If you thaw the frozen strawberries in the right way, you will get fresh as it was. Thawing in the refrigerator is the best way though its a lengthy process.

At first, take the required amount of frozen strawberries and keep them in a bowl. Put on a cover and place them in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight.

Thawing slowly will keep the strawberries fresh and firmer. You will not get the same result if you quickly do it at room temperature.

How long do frozen berries last in the fridge?

The storage duration depends on a variety of factors. These factors are similarly applicable for storing fresh berries. We already discussed these factors previously.

Actually, theres no exact storage period for Berries. Fresh Berries are likely to spoil even in the fridge. But if properly stored then it lasts for about 4 to 6 months.

Try not to store for a long time to ensure quality.
