How To Freeze Fruits For Smoothies

For the best smoothie, only choose fruits that are perfectly ripe as under-ripe fruits are not tasty while overripe ones have fewer nutrients.

After buying, clean, and/or peel the fruits skins.

Remove all bruises and gashes if there is any. Cut the fruits into bite-sized pieces so it could be blended easier.

Use a cloth or paper to dry or remove all moisture from fruits. Place fruits into a tray that is topped with a wax paper. Wrap a plastic cling layer around the fruit tray and put it in the freezer overnight.

When the fruit is frozen, take them out of the tray and put all back to a freezer bag for storage.

Should You Add Dairy To Your Smoothies

You might have noticed that nowhere in this article did I mention adding yogurt or milk to your smoothie, which is advice you might have seen elsewhere on the internet.

Considering that 75% of the global population is lactose intolerant, humans are the only mammals on earth to drink milk after infancy, and the dairy industry as a whole is a sick, cruel joke, I do not use any kind of dairy in my smoothies, or life, for that matter.

I promise, you wont miss it in fact, youll probably notice that it weighs your smoothie down. You can get everything you need out of food without any kind of dairy in your diet and youll probably feel better and notice an improvement in your health too!

Skip the dairy and use only live, whole foods in your smoothies and I promise, you will not regret it.

However, If you feel like you must add some dairy to your smoothie, consider adding Kefir, a fermented dairy product that is loaded with good probiotics for your gut.

    Get to Work!

Now that youve got a better understanding of what makes a smoothie tick, you owe it to yourself to get out there and find what you like the most.

How To Blend The Perfect Smoothie

Depending on the strength of your blender , the order you put your ingredients in the blender could influence the overall texture. Heres how we like to layer ingredients into the blender:

  • Liquids go first to make blending easier on the blades.
  • Greens go in next, which will help them to pulverize smoothly.
  • Soft ingredients, like fresh fruit and soft veggies, go next to help the blades start blending.
  • Hard ingredients, like frozen fruit and firm veggies, go last.
  • Start the blender off slowly, then gradually increase the speed. Blend for 30 to 60 seconds until the smoothie is as smooth as possible.

How To Make Your Smoothies Taste Better

EASY SMOOTHIE USING FROZEN FRUIT ð?ð??

If youre using too many leafy greens, smoothies can end up tasting too bitter.

Sweet fruits like bananas, pineapples, mango can add lots of natural sweetness to your smoothies.

I especially like bananas and mango , they make almost every smoothie taste better.

Strawberries and oranges can also be a great choice for masking bitter flavors.

If youre just starting with smoothies, you can add honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup to make smoothies taste like a dessert.

Once youre more experienced, you can reduce the amount of sugar in your smoothies and add more leafy greens or other veggies.

The less sugar , the more natural ingredients youll use, the healthier your smoothie will be.

    The Best Fruit For Smoothies

    Easy Frozen Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Any good smoothie MUST HAVE fruit we all know this. I like to use a combination of fresh fruit and frozen fruit.

The best fresh fruit I like to add into my smoothies:

    • One banana, to serve as a base and thickener.
    • Half an avocado, to add a creamy texture and those wonderful monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
    • Finally, blackberries, which have TONS of health benefits!

Of course, there are tons of other types of fresh fruit you could use in a smoothie, and these are just the ones that I use on a day-to-day basis. The real star of the show, though, is frozen fruit.

Most grocery stores have Organic frozen fruit on the cheap. I like Cascadian Farms and often find it on sale in the frozen grocery isle.

Add These Superfoods To Your Smoothie For A Nutrient Boost

Chia SeedsThis superfood has been all the rage lately and for good reason. The health benefits of chia seeds are honestly ridiculous.

I usually add two or three teaspoons to every smoothie I make because theyre very high in protein and fiber.

A few other superfoods I like to add to my smoothies are flax seeds, hemp hearts, coconut chips, pumpkin seeds, granola, and spirulina powder.

I usually like to keep it simple with chia seeds and a complex granola blend with low added sugar, but there is a wide variety of add-ins you can mix into your smoothie for an even healthier treat.

Creating This Frozen Fruit Smoothie With Yogurt

I love smoothies. Theyre fast, easy, healthy, and refreshing. This one has just three ingredients but youd never know it based on how creamy, smooth, and satisfying it is.

I got the ingredients at Vons. Look for the new tag at your local Vons or Safeway stores to find new items like these at great values. I used Silk Unsweetened Cashewmilk, Silk Strawberry Dairy-Free Yogurt, and a frozen mixed berry blend of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

I love baking and making smoothies with Silk products because theyre so low in calories and fat, theyre vegan and dairy-free, and I always get impressive-tasting results.

Between the naturally sweet fruit and the strawberry yogurt, I didnt need to add sugar to the smoothie. Love it when that happens!

The recipe as written will serve two, and you can freeze the second portion for later. Or get creative and make frozen yogurt popsicles with it. However you try it, youre going to love it!

What Are The Health Benefits Of A Frozen Fruit Smoothie

Although smoothies are sweet, making it seem like theyre a treat more than a health benefit, they actually full of nutrients. A fruit smoothie contains large amounts of folate. vitamin C, and potassium. Most fruits are a great source for these nutrients and one fruit smoothie can contain up to 2-3 servings of fruit. The Greek yogurt also adds a good dose of protein, which help keep you full for longer.

Why Use Frozen Fruits In Smoothies

How to make a frozen fruit smoothie| Easy Fruit Smoothie Recipe| Enigmatic Designed

    Its so convenient!

Most supermarkets sell frozen smoothie packs these days.

Theres no need to wash or cut the fruits. Everything is done for you already. Its a huge timesaver!

You wont even have to defrost the fruits before making smoothies. Just open the bag, add some to your blender and youre good.

Just because its convenient doesnt mean its less healthy!

Fruits are picked and frozen at peak ripeness. Studies show again and again that frozen fruits retain at least as many vitamins, minerals, as fresh fruits. Some fruits can even retain more vitamins when theyre frozen than when theyre bought fresh.

Using more frozen fruits also means less spoilage.

Frozen fruits are good for months, instead of just days. You can easily enjoy your favorite fruits at any time of the year.

Using frozen fruits actually makes your smoothies taste better.

Some people like to use ice cubes in their smoothies, I like using frozen fruits. A chilled smoothie simply tastes better, theres no question about it. Save the ice, and add some frozen fruits instead.

How To Make A Frozen Fruit Smoothie

Making frozen fruit smoothies isnt rocket science. A little down below, youll find my favorite frozen fruit smoothie recipes.

If you want to create your own smoothie recipes, heres how you can do it.

If you want to avoid the five major mistakes people make when making smoothies, check out this article: How Long Do Smoothies Last?

    1. Start with a Liquid Base

When were making frozen fruit smoothies, we want to start with a base. Its best to always have some liquid in our smoothies. One serving usually needs about ½ 1 cup of liquid. Good options are:

    • filtered water
    • nut milk
    • soy milk, coconut milk, hemp milk, rice milk, etc.
    • dairy milk
    • fruit juice

The lowest calorie version is obviously plain water. Unsweetened nut milk or coconut water can also be a healthy, low-fat, and low-calorie choice.

Adding too much fruit juice may spike your blood sugar levels, so its best not to overdo it.

Also, be careful with coconut milk , as its high in fat and calories.

    2. Add Some Frozen Fruits

After youve chosen your liquid base, its time to add some fruits to your smoothie. Id recommend using both frozen fruits and fresh fruits in smoothies.

If youre using too many frozen ingredients, it can make your smoothie too slushy.

If you dont use any ice or frozen fruits, your smoothie wont taste as good as it could.

Every smoothie I make will have some frozen ingredients in it.

You can completely skip the ice, and add some frozen fruits or veggies instead.

    • berries
    • mango
