Can I Add Protein Powder To My Green Smoothie
For a balanced meal replacement smoothie consider adding whey protein powder, collagen protein powder, or a plant-based protein powder. For this smoothie, a plain or vanilla flavored protein powder works best. Simply add the recommended serving size, usually 1-2 scoops to the blender, and blend up with the rest of your ingredients.
Seasonal Summer Smoothie Recipes
Each recipe makes one serving. Smoothies should be consumed same day for optimum nutrition. For convenience, meal prep ingredients in individual freezer bags and store until ready to blend. Use high speed blender for the smoothest consistency, but a standard kitchen blender or individual bullet will work just fine. Feel free to adjust liquid content for your preferred consistency. And remember always chew your smoothies.

I went to Whole Foods the other night after spin and ended up ordering the BEST smoothie. Ive been making my Simple Green Smoothie every morning, but Im quite certain that this is my new go to! The best part is that its just as simple to make! See my video below to watch me make this smoothie step by step!
Below is the 24 oz Tropical Green Smoothie that I purchased from Whole Foods for $5.95.It consisted of spinach, coconut water, banana, pineapple, and mango.I love getting smoothies from juice bars and markets when Im low on time and groceries, but sometimes I dont think their smoothies are thick enough for my liking and I drink them in a nanosecond. My recipe is a little bit thicker but to my knowledge, tastes exactly the same as theirs! If you like thick smoothies, you are in the right place! But if you like your smoothies a little thinner, no problem, just add some extra coconut water to this recipe!

High Iron Smoothies For Pregnancy
If you suspect that you have an iron deficiency, it is important to see your doctor before trying to treat it at home. Always talk with your doctor and follow their treatment recommendations.
Green smoothies are packed with vitamins, minerals, and promote hydration. Not to mention, they taste amazing and are easily digested. Nausea and morning sickness during the first trimester made meats and heavy meals seem very unappealing. And during the last trimester, I got full quickly and couldnt stomach large meals. Knowing that Ive had a history of anemia throughout my life, I used green smoothies before getting pregnant and during my pregnancies to keep my iron levels up and my body filled with whole food nutrients.
The American Pregnancy Association says, During pregnancy, the heart works harder to provide adequate nourishment to the fetus. The body increases its blood volume by 30-50%. Due to this increase in blood volume, it is important for pregnant women to also increase their intake of folic acid and iron.

Why Use Coconut Water In Smoothies
You may not be familiar with coconut water yet, but you should get to know this sweet, nutty flavored water found in the center of a young, green coconut. Dont confuse it with coconut milk, though, which is made by adding water to grated coconut meat.
Coconut water is a fantastic ingredient for smoothies because it contains less sugar and calories than fruit juice and no fat. It also adds a few key nutrients including potassium , magnesium, and manganese. Be sure to only buy 100% pure coconut water to avoid added sugars.

Tropical Green Smoothie Ingredients:
- protein powder I used a plant-based vanilla protein powder, but unflavored would work well too.
- chia seeds
- unsweetened shredded coconut
I normally buy and use unsweetened vanilla almond milk for smoothies, but I decided to switch it up and buy the almond coconut milk blend. Its perfect for this tropical smoothie, but I also love the subtle coconut flavor it adds to my morning iced coffee. If you dont have the almond coconut milk, no worries! You can use regular almond milk, coconut milk, a combo of the two or any other milk you have on hand. The smoothie will still be delicious no matter what liquid you use!
Whenever I drink this smoothie I start to day dreaming about laying on the beach with my toes in the sand. Can you tell Im ready for beach weekend?

Why Is Vitamin C
Iron is an essential mineral needed for your body to function properly. Non-heme iron is iron that comes from plants, vegetables, fruits, and grains. Its important to understand that non-heme iron isnt absorbed as easily in the body as iron that comes from animals.
Foods rich in Vitamin C help your body to absorb iron. Vitamin C works to store iron in a form thats more easily absorbed by your body and may increase iron bioavailability fourfold.

Only the best, most genius idea ever. Youll simply toss most of your smoothie ingredients in a freezer bag/container to have on hand in the freezer. Then you can throw together a delicious, nutrient dense smoothie for breakfast, as a snack, or as a meal replacement anytime.
I personally love that you can freeze the spinach and nuts in this Tropical Smoothie recipe alongside the fruit.
Weve found that freezing all kinds of ingredients for smoothies, from nut butters to greens to bananas, works well because smoothies are very forgiving! To make this recipe a smoothie pack, simply follow our freezing instructions given below in the recipe.
I prefer to make 4 smoothie packs at a time to save time and money.

What Is Anemia
According to the Cleveland Clinic, Anemia happens when you do not have enough red blood cells. The cells travel with iron and hemoglobin, which carry oxygen through the bloodstream to your organs all through the body. When someone develops anemia, they are said to be anemic. Being anemic might mean that you feel more tired or cold than you usually do, or if your skin seems too pale. This is due to your organs not receiving the oxygen they need to do their jobs.

What Is Non
There are two types of iron. One from plants, non-heme. And the other from animals, heme. Heme iron is more readily absorbed by the body, but is only found in animal products.
If youre a vegetarian, vegan, or limit the number of animal products you eat, youll want to be sure youre eating plenty of high-iron fruits and vegetables.
