Ahh, the joys of being a mom to three kids during breakfast time the most hectic time of the day. There is never a dull moment around here from 7-8 am. From tantrums concerning overripe fruit to last-minute breakfast hacks.

Every morning is a new challenge until that glorious time when my kiddos go to school. Sometimes, because of poor planning, I even forget to eat breakfast! I end up relying on my coffee to magically nourish me, which doesnt work out so well

Carnation Breakfast Smoothies-a fast and tasty way to start off the day!

School started back for us this week. Do you realize how early 5 am is? My older 2 have to be at the bus stop before 5:45 am. In my opinion, its just too early. I have to tell you, my kids have been amazing about getting up, getting showered, dressed, and ready for school.

The kids like to buy school lunch so I have a drink and snacks for them to take just in case they get hungry during the day.

As for breakfast, its hard to eat a heavy meal so early and honestly, the odds of me cooking breakfast at 5am? Um, nope, not gonna happen. Theres cereal in the cabinet but really, my kids arent awake enough to go to the effort.

Homemade Peanut Brittle Recipe

Going back to work from maternity leave has definitely been an adjustment for me. While I miss my kiddos so much, its nice to be back into the swing of things and normal life again after months of craziness of a new baby. But going back to work and trying to find new breakfast options that are healthy has been difficult. I tend to prefer baked goods in the morning, but baked goods dont necessary like me and my post-baby body. So I thought why not try to find some new fun ways to get a good breakfast in me, that tastes good, and that is a bit outside the box!? And I came up with this tasty Peach Breakfast Smoothie recipe for me and my family!

With it finally being warm out, I figured nothing tastes better than fresh sweet peaches, so I headed off to Kroger and picked up some essentials for my smoothie!

For this smoothie youll need:

Fresh peaches

Carnation Breakfast Essentials Vanilla powder


Almond Milk in Vanilla or Plain Flavor

How To:

I started by chopping up my peaches and putting them into my blender. I used one large peach, but you could easily add two depending on how many you have on hand or how much youre making. From there, I added one packet of Carnation Breakfast Essentials Vanilla powder.

Finally I added about one cup of almond milk and one to one and a half cups of ice, then I blended it all together.

Step 1. Combine mango, nectar, evaporated milk, lime juice and sugar in blender cover. Blend until smooth. Serve over ice and top with almonds, if desired.

Our super simple family favorite smoothie is our Chocolate Banana Smoothie hands down. Super simple recipe and how to: 1 cup of fat-free milk. 1 large banana 6 level tablespoons of Carnation Breakfast Essentials or 1 packet if you buy the individual serving packets

Instructions Add ice, milk, Carnation Instant Breakfast Vanilla packet, chia seeds, and sliced fruit into blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve with chia sprinkled on top.

    Now Im back to feeling like garbage. But its not too late. Nope, its February 1st and Im hopping back on that resolution train and Im riding it out!

    I also started making Chocolate Banana Pancakes on Sunday for the entire week. I freeze two in ziplock bags and then just pop them in the toaster in the morning. These are great because Connor can make them by himself and likes to eat them with and without syrup.

    I picked up my container of Breakfast Essentials from Safeway. It can be found in the breakfast aisle. Carnation Breakfast Essentials® powder comes in a variety of flavors like rick milk chocolate, classic french vanilla, classic chocolate malt, dark chocolate, strawberry sensation, or you can grab a variety pack so you can try all the different flavors. I used the rich milk chocolate version for my recipes. There are a variety of ready to drink shakes and bars available too.     For Kids The first recipe I created for the kids. I wanted to create a kid friendly smoothie that I filled with even more nutrients than already in the powdered drink. Carnation Breakfast Essentials® powder already has 21 vitamins and minerals, 13g of Protein and as much calcium as a 6 oz cup of yogurt. It has a comparable amount of sugar as the kind of greek yogurt I buy too. I decided to add flax, a banana and some peanut butter to just pack it full of healthy nutrients. My kids enjoy the taste, and we can all enjoy the health benefits. Of course, parents can drink this version too, but scroll down to find the adult smoothie I enjoy.

    Carnation Banana Smoothie with Peanut Butter and Flax

    1 cup Milk

    6 Tbsp Carnation Breakfast Essentials

    1/8 cup Peanut Butter

    1 1/2 cups Ice

    Mocha Berry Frappuccino Smoothie

    Which, speaking of waking up. While I may not eat breakfast, I have nothing against drinking it. Thus, Ive been playing around a bit to find a more adult smoothie that I really enjoy, with a hint of coffee because I need the kick. I think Im on the right track with this Mocha Berry Frappuccino Smoothie.

    3/4 cup strong coffee2 tbsp Carnation Breakfast Essential Powder1/4 cup blueberrieswhipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup are optional

    Mix together all ingredients in blender.

    While I make mine with just a handful of blueberries, raspberries would probably be really good, too.
