What Can I Replace Milk With In A Smoothie
Next on how to make a smoothie without yogurt or milk is using a good milk alternative. Milk is great for smoothies because its a healthy liquid that helps your smoothie be thin enough to drink through a straw.
If you dont use enough liquid in your smoothie it will be super thick and wont blend well. Youll end up with big chunks and you wont be able to drink it.
Here are some good milk substitutions for your smoothie.

This recipe contains a quarter cup of chia seeds, which are loaded with antioxidants, protein, fat, and a TON of fiber! Just one ounce of chia seeds contain almost half of your fiber intake for the day, so this is a great smoothie to start you on the right foot.
Chia is also the star ingredient for making this smoothie super thick, so the longer you let it sit to absorb liquid, the more it will thicken up. For even more creaminess, you can swap the hemp seeds for flax seeds, which will help absorb some of the extra liquid as well.

How To Freeze Fruit For Smoothies
To make smoothies even easier, freeze fresh fruit into portions. You can even prepare smoothie packs and freeze them for a grab-and-blend smoothie option.
To freeze fruit for smoothies, rinse and chop fresh fruit into small pieces. Pat them dry then arrange, in one layer, on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Slide the baking sheet into the freezer and freeze until hard .
When the fruit is hard, divide it between freezer-safe bags and keep it in the freezer for your next smoothie.
How To Make It
Unlike baking recipes, for instance, smoothie recipes do not have to use exact measurements. You can adjust according to taste. The only difference in choosing between fresh or frozen fruit is how thick you want it to be. Frozen will make for a more milkshake-thick smoothie, whereas fresh will get thickened up slightly by the ice, but have a more liquidy texture. Or you can combine frozen and fresh fruit.
You can use any kind of soft fruit you want, such as berries, bananas, peeled peaches or nectarines, melons, even grapes, and puree, and know you can always add a bit more fruit or ice to thicken it or a bit more milk to thin it out.

How To Make The Best Banana Smoothie
My basic smoothie recipe calls for four simple ingredients:
Banana I use one banana to make one large or two smaller smoothies. For the best tasting smoothie, use a ripe banana. For the creamiest banana smoothie, use frozen banana slices. Ive shared how I freeze bananas for smoothies below.
Half an orange When I have oranges in the house, I love adding them to my morning smoothie. It adds extra vitamin C and tropical flavor. If you dont have oranges on hand, dont worry, you can substitute other fruits like mango, pineapple, and berries.
Plain or Greek yogurt I dont always add yogurt to my smoothies, but when I do have it in the fridge, adding a spoonful ensures a protein-packed and creamy smoothie. For a smoothie without yogurt, add a little extra fruit or include veggies like spinach or kale.
Water or milk To help the ingredients blend, I like adding a splash of liquid to the blender. For a smoothie without milk, use water. It still tastes amazing. For more creaminess add milk .
To make the smoothie, I add everything into a blender and then blend until smooth. For an icy cold smoothie, throw in a handful of ice or use frozen fruits.

Add A Banana To Your Smoothie
I love adding ripe bananas to my green smoothies, not just for their natural sweetness to balance the flavor of the greens, but to add thickness and creaminess as well. You can add it in fresh, but what I often do is slice up the banana and put it on a baking sheet in the freezer, then once its frozen, place all of the cut pieces into a container for use in my morning smoothies.
Bananas add such creamy texture to your favorite smoothies. Try them fresh or frozen!
Freezing the banana on the pan first keeps it all from sticking together so when youre making your morning blend, you dont have to wrestle apart pieces of the banana, you can simply add in what you need. Frozen banana will make your smoothie even thicker, which I love, especially if Im leaving with it in the morning, to drink later.

We’ve all heard about the Greek yogurt fad, and rightly so. It has double the number of proteins as compared to the regular yogurt, low in fat, and keeps your waistline in check. Devouring it plain or with fruits and granola makes it a filling and nutritious option any time of the day. Using Greek yogurt to make smoothies is especially wholesome for these reasons.

How To Make Creamy Smoothies Without Yogurt Or Dairy
Robyn Openshaw – Feb 25, 2019 – This Post May Contain Affiliate Links
Before most people get on the green smoothie train, they usually think smoothies consist of two ingredientsfruit and yogurt.
While those two ingredients can be components of a smoothie recipe, there are many other better ways to add flavor, smooth texture, variety, and nutrition to your drink, especially if you want to make it into a meal. In fact, greens and superfoods are the very best things you can throw in your blender.
In this post:
I love fruit in smoothies, but only in a minor way, as eating a lot of fruit at once can be a sugar overload. I prefer to use mostly low-sugar, whole foods ingredients as the crux of the smoothie.
As for yogurt, if youve been reading my website for a while, youll know dairy isnt on the menu here. First, the yogurts you often find in the store are sweetened, contain carageenan and other toxic additives, and third party testing shows that few of them even have active probiotic cultures. Homemade yogurt contains gut-healthy probiotics, but the ones on grocery store shelves are not a healthy food, despite the marketing.
Yogurt has a reputation as a healthy snack, but it often has unnecessary sugar and toxic additives.
So how do you get the creaminess of a yogurt-based smoothie without the yogurt?
The Right Smoothie Ratios
Start your smoothie with two mugfuls of a liquid base. This can be milk, or a dairy-free alternative such as soya or almond milk, natural or flavoured yogurt, fruit juice, or for a tropical flavoured smoothie, low-fat coconut milk or coconut water. It’s important to add the liquid to your blender before adding the fruit, as this will prevent the blade from getting damaged.
Next, add about three quarters of a mug of your chosen fruit. Banana is a great base flavour for any smoothie, and will give you a lovely creamy texture. Other fruits that work well are berries, mango, peaches, plums, nectarines, grated apple or pear, and melon. You may have to add more fruit or liquid, depending on the type of fruit you choose. Play around until you have a texture you like. Add a squeeze of honey, maple syrup or agave syrup if your smoothie needs it, and finally add a few ice cubes to the blender for a thick and frosty smoothie.

Watermelon Smoothie Recipe Without Yogurt
- Ripe watermelon
- Mint leaves
- Lets start by picking the best watermelon. Whether its big or small, a watermelon should be heavy. Look for the yellow spot. This is a sign that watermelons are ripe. Tap the underbelly of the watermelon. A ripe one will have a deep hollow sound. Under-ripe or over-ripe melons will sound dull.
- Depending on the power of your blender, cut the watermelon into big size pieces. Make sure to remove the seeds. Yes it may be a taxing but totally worth it. But if you like the seeds, you can keep them on there. Pulse the watermelon for 10 to 15 seconds, just to get it going.
- Add the lime juice and blend until smooth. The tangy lime juice gives a tangy punch and a nice dose of vitamin C.
- Lastly, add the mint leaves and pulse for 5 seconds. I dont breakdown the leaves too much since all we want is that hint of freshness. Mint leaves aid in good digestion

How To Store And Reheat Your Mango Smoothie / Lassi
If you dont plan on drinking your smoothie right away, make sure to store it in an airtight container . Your drink will become soggy if left exposed to the air. I recommend that you wait until youre ready to have your smoothie before placing your ice cubes in the blender.
It is better to blend all of your other ingredients initially and then add the ice a little bit at a time. Otherwise, if you put all the ice cubes in first, your drink will become too watery.
This mango smoothie recipe can be made the night before for breakfast or as a healthy snack. To reheat your mango smoothie, place it in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes until the ice cubes are melted, and you can enjoy it cold again.
A NOTE ON THE AMOUNT OF MILK:
I used 2% milk, and it turned out just OK. However, you should only use fat-free/skim milk so that your drink remains thick.
