Add your milk to the blender first.

This will help make sure the blender works the best that it can, and has easy access to the liquid of the recipe.

If you do not have a high speed blender, you may need to add more milk to make it not as thick so that the blender can handle mixing the smoothie up.

If you dont care about thickness, you can make this more easily by splashing in some extra milk to help the blender out.

Its really whatever works for you!

What Milk To Use In Your Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Another question I have been asked is what type of milk I suggest.

Any milk you have will work.

You wont really notice a flavor difference, or much of one.

I used 2% milk as it is what I had on hand, but you can use whole milk, almond milk, soy milk, whatever basic milk you have on hand.

Dairy free or dairy it wont make much of a difference.

No need to run to the store, just use what you have!

  • Protein powderâ You can add any protein powder as per diet restrictions. Which will add extra protein anywhere from 20 gram to 30 gram extra to this smoothie. My plain berry smoothie was already enough sweet due to which I skipped adding it. Just add 1 scoop of protein powder to make it a complete healthy breakfast smoothie.
  • Nut butterâ Adding nut butter is a great idea for healthy fats. Which will make this smoothie Paleo & whole 30 approved.
  • Nutsâ Cashew, almond, pistachio are good addition to it.
  • Sweetenerâ If you want to make a smoothie without adding a banana then add 3 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup or agave syrup. 2 teaspoon of stevia or monks fruit will also work.
  • Yogurtâ You can add cup of greek yogurt in place of almond milk to make it thick and get few grams of protein extra.
  • Spinachâ To make it fiber-rich add 1 cup of spinach. However, my kids are fussy over the green color smoothies.

In fact, some of the most delicious smoothies I have ever made do not have any milk in them at all.

Green smoothies especially should never be made with milk in them.

I discovered a long time ago that the very best green smoothie I have ever tastedis made with water, citrus fruits, and ice.

Some green smoothies may taste good with milk, but I prefer the ones without it much better.

You have to learn which flavors play well together and which ones clash.

Otherwise you might find yourself hating smoothies and giving up on them all together.

That was me for awhile and I had just about given up making smoothies taste good.

Now that I know how to make delicious smoothies at home, I make them all of the time!

Be patient, it will blend!

I gladly take a few extra minutes to help the smoothie blend instead of adding more milk.
