So How Do I Incorporate Smoothie To My Meals

People often ask what I eat before and after workout. It really depends on how I feel but in general a cup of iced cold green smoothie made with kale and spinach is my favorite after an intensive training session. Before the workout, I usually have some eggs and definitely pack my Whole30 make ahead breakfast sandwich or my Savory breakfast meatballs in my gym back in case I got hungry.

The Best Paleo Green Smoothie Ever

By Jess

I love a good smoothie. Who doesnt? Finding tasty smoothies is a cinch, but many of the best tasting smoothies use extra sugar that most health aficionados, and certainly those of us who eat a Paleo diet, dont want. Its also easy to find very healthy smoothies without that sugar, but so often those smoothies dont taste very good. This Best Paleo Green Smoothie has the best of both worlds: its super tasty and healthy and of course, its perfectly Paleo.

Ive always thought of smoothies as having originated in the 1990s, about the time the low-fat craze got started but when I started digging a little in preparation for this post, I realized they have a much longer history than I ever knew. For thousands of years before blenders were ever invented, many tropical and Mediterranean cultures were in the practice of drinking pureed fruit, a kind of precursor to the modern smoothie. In the 1960s, this practice was taken up by health and fitness gurus on the West Coast. This was, of course, the birth of the modern practice of juicing. When refrigeration and blenders met juicing, suddenly everyone was making smoothies.

Many people agree that the green smoothie is the healthiest one out there. Maybe its the funky color if its green, its gotta be good for you, right? Well, in this case thats true. Lets take a look at the health benefits of some of the ingredients in our Best Paleo Green Smoothie

  • ½ cup chopped fresh pineapple
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds

Give Inflammation The Boot

I cant say enough good things about how great this smoothie really is for helping to fight off inflammation within the body. Which is a good thing too because thanks to modern research, we now have a much better understanding of just how deadly chronic inflammation can be. It has been directly linked with multiple types of disease, including cancer, diabetes, Alzheimers, and heart disease. Thankfully, there are quite a few healthy food options that all have proven anti-inflammatory properties, such as leafy green veggies like spinach. When making this recipe, you can choose to add either two cups of fresh spinach or ½ cup of frozen spinach both options will provide you with a ton of disease-fighting antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

While were on the topic of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, youll also be adding a single cup of frozen cranberries into this smoothie. While cranberries are commonly used as a remedy for certain types of urinary infections, theyre also packed full of anti-inflammatory compounds that are extremely beneficial when it comes to human health. Youll also be using ½ of a frozen banana and ½ of a medium sized apple in this recipe. Both of these ingredients help to add even more vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants into the mix.

Recipe: Green Pia Colada Smoothie

Do you like piña colada? Then youll love this nutritious take on the classic. With its fresh coconut and no added sugar, you wont feel guilty about enjoying this smoothie everyday. My friend Alejendra shows us how she makes her delicious green piña colada for her family.

Alejandra believes in the power of a good diet and a healthy food lifestyle. You know this drink is good for you before even drinking it, thanks to the bright green color from the collard greens. By blending up these raw greens, the blender does the work of breaking down the tough leaves so theyre more efficiently absorbed by our bodies. Everything from the bananas to the pineapple to the coconut provides a healthy source of vitamins and minerals that come together in a smoothie that is as good for you as it tastes.

A young coconut can be found in some organic supermarkets like Whole Foods . It is used because the flesh inside is soft and can be easily scooped out. The young coconut also contains more nutrient-rich water. If you can get your hands on one, go for itif not a can of coconut milk will also do.

I also love how Alejandra uses frozen pineapple instead of ice to keep the smoothie from getting too watered down. The flavor of the coconut really comes through and the greens taste bright and herby . Youll definitely appreciate the fresh hunger-satisfying feeling you get from drinking this smoothie. Try having it for lunch or a mid-afternoon snack to supercharge your day.

How To Make An Orange Smoothie

Classic Green Smarter Smoothie #keto #paleo #vegan option

This particular Paleo orange smoothie was born in the winter months when there is limited in-season produce.

Citrus is plentiful however, and it is tasty and affordable!!

In this smoothie, I left some of the zested peel and pith intact on the oranges for an extra orange burst. I simply use a knife to roughly peel.its quicker and cleaner for me to prep it this way. A high powered blender is needed to pulverize all the peel though, so remove the whole thing if you do not have one.

And if the white pith is super thick, its too bitter to use much, so use caution and remove most of it.

Paleo Green Smoothie With Protein

Sharing is Caring!

This creamy and refreshing paleo green smoothie has it all! Its sweetened with fruit only, packs in the veggies and is even kid approved! Add your favorite protein powder or collagen to make it either paleo or vegan.

The first thing I wanted to make after purchasing my new blender two months ago was a green smoothie.

I know that Im way late to the green-game, but my old, barely functional blender did not have the powder to make any sort of smoothie, let alone one that required pureeing veggies.

So, pure curiosity made me want to try out a green smoothie ASAP after buying my refurbished Vitamix.

Even though it was my first time, I had big green smoothie goals. First, I wanted it to be completely naturally sweetened it just seems like a green smoothie needs to be free of any added sugar, dont you think?

Second, I wanted to make it without bananas. Why?! Well, I feel like there are TONS of smoothie recipes out there using bananas as a sweetener, and I wanted to think outside the banana box.

Third, I wanted to add protein. Okay, admittedly this was the easiest requirement just add your favorite collagen or plant based protein powder and, like magic, it blends right in.

My next requirement was to add a decent amount of veggies in there. An Instagram follower said she used frozen zucchini to both add creaminess + veggies to her smoothies.
