What Do I Need For Your Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie Recipe

In all likelihood, you already have everything you need in your kitchen! Youll need:

  • Frozen bananas. Not only is banana one of the predominant flavors in this smoothie, but it also adds sweetness, and serves to thicken and chill the smoothie.
  • Milk. Choose whatever milk youd usually buy anyways, as long as it is unsweetened. Cows milk, almond milk, soy milkany will work!
  • Natural peanut butter. Obviously, you cant have a peanut butter banana smoothie without the peanut butter! If you want to mix things up, you can use almond butter or another nut butter instead, too.
  • Plain Greek yogurt. I love using yogurt to boost the protein and sticking power of my smoothies. Plus, it makes the smoothie even creamier!
  • Honey or maple syrup. Depending on how ripe your banana is, you might be able to skip the sweetener.

What To Serve With A Green Smoothie

What is your favorite thing to eat with a smoothie? I personally like bite-sized snacks!

Smoothies are something I drink when I am swamped or don’t have time to sit down for a complete meal. So, on those days, I’ll have a banana quinoa chia muffin with my smoothie. That combo is packed with tons of fiber!

If you want something with more protein, try it with some ham and egg muffins. They are portable and can go with you out the door.

One of the BEST things about these tasty smoothies is that they can be prepped in advance so that a quick blend is all that they need on the morning of. That means breakfast is done, so you can hit snooze one extra time! Heres how youll make 5 smoothies at a time, plus exactly what size yogurt tub to buy!

To make 5 smoothie packs, youll need 2½ cups of yogurt altogether. Most yogurt tubs come in a 32-ounce size which equates to about 3¾ cups yogurt. So, if you go the 32-ounce route, know that youll have a little bit of yogurt to spare make a yogurt bowl OR a Greek yogurt dip with the leftover to avoid food waste! Variations For A Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Not only is a smoothie a fantastic vehicle for nutritious food during the day, but is also very adaptable to your liking. Here are easy variations for this recipe:

    • Chocolate. Thinking of having a chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie to stave off the temptation of a less healthy dessert? Add a few teaspoons of cocoa powder or a scoop of chocolate protein powder, and this very well may replace your favorite milkshake.
    • Protein Powder. This peanut butter banana smoothie has protein because of the peanut butter and Greek yogurt. But if you need an extra boost in your banana smoothie after a workout, add a ½ to 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder .

Key Ingredients For Peanut Butter Banana Green Smoothie

I highly recommend always using the freshest ingredients you can find. That’s what will make this smoothie taste the best!

Here’s a little extra information about what I used in my green smoothie recipe.

    • Bananas: Try to use ripe bananas. They will puree easier and offer some of that natural sweetness when combined with the rest of the ingredients.
    • Spinach: For this smoothie, only use fresh spinach leaves. Frozen or canned spinach will not have the right texture for the smoothie.
    • Yogurt: I used nonfat Greek yogurt because it is thick and creamy. It is the perfect base for lots of smoothies! If you use regular yogurt, it won’t be as thick, but it will still taste delicious.
    • Flax Seeds: They add fiber to the smoothie without altering how it feels. You can skip them if you want, but I recommend adding them if you can.
    • Almond Milk: Always use unsweetened almond milk to keep the calorie count down. If you use sweetened almond milk, you’ll notice the smoothie tastes extra sweet.
    • Vanilla Extract: If you use vanilla almond milk, you can skip this ingredient.
    • Peanut Butter: Try to find natural peanut butter that doesn’t have any added sugar. Also, instead of peanut butter, you can use any type of nut or seed butter you like.

    • Hemp seeds: feel free to throw a tablespoon of hemp seeds into your smoothie for a boost of healthy fats, omegas and minerals.
    • More veggies: you could also try adding some frozen cauliflower for an extra boost, or adding a handful of spinach or kale. Youll never be able to taste them!
    • Protein: Easily add more protein to a smoothie by adding some greek yogurt or 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder. I recommend Vital Protein collagen peptides or Four Sigmatic Plant-Based Protein Powder.
