Make It Creamy And Thick
Creating a creamy smoothie texture involves frozen ingredients, starchy fruit, healthy fats, and fiber-rich oats. Bananas naturally contain starch that releases when blended.
The yogurt and almonds have rich fats that incorporate into the mix. When dried oats get finely chopped, their fibers help with thickening. These ingredients suspend with the frozen fruit particles to creates the optimal texture.
How To Make A Banana Almond Milk Smoothie
You can use a blender or Ninja, up to you. Both work fine. You can find a wide variety of blenders for all of your smoothie recipes HERE
Blend until smooth.
Add cinnamon to the top of your shake if desired. Your banana almond milk smoothie should be sweet enough from the natural sweetness of the banana. But if you prefer a bit more sweetness, you can add a little honey or maple syrup or agave to your almond milk smoothie.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Vegan Banana Almond Milk Smoothie
Creamy, delicious vegan banana almond milk smoothie is nutritious and loaded with fiber but tastes like a decadent dessert!
I love deserts, but savory foods have always trumped sweets for me when it comes to those urgent must-have-now cravings. This has been slowly evolving over these past few years though and at this point, if I don’t get something sweet at some point in the day, I’m not a very happy camper. Chocolate is my go-to staple for this fix, but as you probably know, once you open that door, its hard to close it. One small square quickly turns into an entire chocolate bar and with my limited level of self control, I just can’t even go there for my daily fix these days.
These sweet-tooth cravings mostly hit at night and I have been dabbling in healthier, real food options to prevent me from going into full swing crazy chocolate lady mode on a regular basis. This vegan banana almond milk smoothie is a winner either as a sweet start to the day or to satisfy that sweet craving whenever it strikes. The taste is somewhat like an almond flavored horchata.

A Healthy Breakfast Smoothie
This smoothie contains just four simple ingredients banana, almond butter, skimmed milk and oats, all good for you in their own way. Dont worry, Im not going to waffle on too much about the amazing health benefits of each of the ingredients . Im not a nutritionist and so anything I write here would just be the result of a quick bit of googling, and whos to say Id be copying from a site that really knows any more about it than I do!
What I am going to do is talk about my favourite ingredient the oats.
In my opinion, the oats have two main advantages:
Firstly, they make the smoothie much more filling. I originally made the smoothies without the oats and I was peckish within an hour, hunting around for something else to keep me going until lunchtime.
Secondly, they make it taste more like breakfast. To me theres something a little unconvincing about having a drink for breakfast. I want to eat. Adding the oats makes it taste more breakfasty and ensures that my brain actually believes that its had breakfast and stops wanting something more.
What Are The Health Benefits
This strawberry banana smoothie recipe has all of the elements of an energy-packed breakfast fresh fruit, almonds, yogurt, and old-fashioned oats. The fruits contain fiber, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals. The bananas, nuts, and yogurt provide a boost of protein. The oats add soluble and insoluble fiber to help you feel fuller longer.

Tips To Make The Best Almond Milk Smoothie
- If you prefer thick smoothies, do not over blend the ice.
- For a low carb smoothie, swap out the banana for frozen pumpkin or avocado chunks. You will need to add 1-2 tablespoons of your favorite sweetener to compensate .
- Feel free to add 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder to add a protein boost. Unless you want to change up the flavor, Id stick to an unflavored protein powder.
- If youd like a sweeter smoothie, you can add some honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar.

Wholesome Banana Almond Milk Smoothie
Inspired by a sweet little coffee shop on the Puerto Rican coast, this wholesome banana almond milk smoothie with flax, vanilla, and a hint of cinnamon tastes like a milkshake yet is healthy and filling enough for a meal.
This post is sponsored by Almond Breeze. All content and opinions expressed are my own.
Awhile back, my husband and I enjoyed a glorious vacation in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Im pretty sure it was only three years ago, but it honestly feels like another millennium before we had a kiddo, before we moved to Brussels, you get the idea. Rincon is known as a big surfing destination, and though we are not surfers, we loved everything about the trip. Gorgeous sunsets, good food, lounging by the pool, watching and listening to waves crash at night, all the usual things you love about a beach vacation.
One specific stand-out, though, was this tiny little coffee shop in town, Banana Dang. We went running almost every morning we were there, it was HOT, and if you go inland just a tiny bit Rincon is actually quite hilly, so we were SUPER sweaty and spent by the end of each workout. I think it was the second day of our vacation that we happened to pop into Banana Dang for a post-run smoothie, and we literally went back every single day after that. It was that good. If memory serves, we might have even gone twice on the last day, before driving back to San Juan.

Creating This Almond Milk Smoothie Recipe
I have been dragging all week. I was fighting a cold at the beginning of the week, didnt sleep well for a couple of days, and had more things on my to-do list than I typically like.
When I have days like that, I totally rely on nutrient-rich afternoon snacks. When Im craving something a little dessert-like after lunch, but a better-for-me-choice than a cookie, I like to make this Chocolate Banana Almond Milk Smoothie.
It has a natural sweetness from the almond butter and the bananas, but the creamy base features Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. Almond milk has been my preferred milk for several years now.
I love it on a bowl of granola and it makes a great addition to smoothie recipes, like this chocolate smoothie recipe, which is quickly becoming a household favorite.
I dont need added sugar in my drink of choice. I love that Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk has 0 grams of sugar per serving.
Switching from Vanilla Almond Milk to Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk is a simple swap that makes it easy to be more mindful about making dietary choices when Im recharging with a post-lunch snack.
Im all about making little changes that overall are better for me without feeling like Im skimping on flavor.

Why Use Almond Milk In Smoothies
Almond milk is a dairy free, plant based milk thats made with almonds and water. Its great for using in smoothies because its a dairy free milk that helps to achieve a creamy texture. Here are a few notes about using almond milk in smoothies:
- Can you taste almond milk in smoothies? Not really! Most almond milk has a very neutral flavor, so its virtually imperceptible in a smoothie.
- Does almond milk make smoothies thicker? No. Almond milk is a good liquid that helps smoothies blend, but its texture is closer to water than milk. By itself, it does not lend creaminess to a smoothie. But in concert with other ingredients, it helps to form just the right smoothie texture.
