Best Battery Powered: Cuisinart Evolutionx Cordless Compact Blender Rpb

Cuisinart PowerEdge Blender at Bed Bath & Beyond
  • No measurement markings on cup

This personal blender is lithium battery-operated, so you can use it anywhere without access to an outletas long as it’s charged. The battery fully recharges in just two hours via a USB cable, which can be connected to ports on your computer or car or used with the included standard electrical plug. The battery is estimated to provide 20 minutes of runtime when fully charged.

It comes with one 16-ounce BPA-free cup plus a travel lid so you can take your smoothies and protein shakes on-the-go. The four-prong blade screws on to the blending cup, and can also be used to puree single servings of soup or crush ice for drinks and slushies.

The blender is powered on and off by a single one-speed power button that lights up when in use. The stainless steel accent and streamlined shape look good on countertops, too. It’s a bit bigger and heavier than the BlendJet, the only other battery-powered model on this list, but it’s backed by a three-year limited warranty, so keep that in mind if you’re trying to decide between the two.

Length Of The Blender

Some brands make models with taller wands, advertising them as better for blending in deep pots. Speckamp agreed: important, especially for quantity cooking, because you want it to go to the bottom of the pot for pureeing. If the shaft only goes to the middle of the pot, I dont think its as successful. The flip side is that if its too tall, the immersion blender can become more cumbersome to maneuver, which we experienced during testing.

The Overall Best Blender: Vitamix 5200

The Vitamix 5200 is by far the best blender we reviewed, for smoothies and anything else you can think to blend. In our tests it produced one of the silkiest drinks, velvety and creamy, not gloppy or overblended like we found with other models. It also crushed ice to perfection and didnt blow out our eardrums doing it. The 5200 is very easy to set up, and the base is heavy but not unbearable. It features a simple control panel with an on/off switch, a variable speed switch, and a dial for varying the power level yourself. It has no extra buttons or specialized settingsbut we didnt miss them. This is just a straightforward, extremely efficient high-performance blender packing a ton of power.

The only downside to buying a Vitamix blender is the price. These bad boys are expensive! But the brand offers a seven-year warranty, so if you plan to use it regularly, we think the cost is worth it.

Classic Series Simple Blender

The blender I use in my apartment is a this basic model from Oster. Its the same blender that personal trainer Michaelangelo Bance recently started using, too. Until last month, I was not a smoothie advocate, but being a single father to a seven-year-old daughter, I had to figure out a way to get her two servings of vegetables per day. Thank goodness for smoothies, he said. I love this blender because it is economical in price for me and my clients, it’s very durable, it blends frozen fruits very well and its easy for my daughter to use. The 700-watt blender includes five speeds and can hold up to six cups-worth of ingredients.

The Best Blender On A Budget: Kitchenaid 5

Breville Die-Cast Hemisphere Blender at Bed Bath & Beyond

While almost every blender we tested was of the high-performance variety , we kept seeing extremely positive reviews for this conventional KitchenAid model. And in fact, this one pulsed and crushed ice and basic smoothie ingredients better KitchenAids high-performance counterpart, which we also tested . But because it isn’t high-performance, it isnt as well-equipped to hander studier ingredients you won’t be able to make nut butters or milks in this model.

This no-frills blender contains five speeds, a pulse button, and an ice button. It crushed ice perfectly for a cocktail, and though it took some extra time to work its way through the frozen banana and kale, it yielded a fine smoothie. It was also a cinch to clean. Truthfully, it outperformed many of the so-called high-performance blenders we tested.

At less than $100, this is a good option for easy tasks like daily breakfast smoothies and batch cocktails. If you want to handle heavier tasks, like making nut butters and turning rough kale into a fine blend, youd be better off with one of the blenders above.
