Strawberries When selecting strawberries, check to see that they are fresh, red, and juicy, and without soft patches or black marks. Freeze them overnight to use in the recipe.

If strawberries are not in season, buy frozen strawberries, or check out my post on How to Freeze Strawberries when they are in season so you can use them year-round.

Kiwi Kiwi adds to the sweet and sour taste of strawberries. Peel, slice, and freeze them for a creamy texture of the smoothie.

Banana Add sliced and frozen banana to create that perfect creamy texture along with some added sweetness.

Milk To thin the smoothie, add some milk. You can replace milk with Greek yogurt too.

To make the smoothie vegan, replace dairy milk with any plant-based milk like oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, etc.

You can also replace the milk with coconut water or orange juice.

Chia Seeds Chia seeds are high in antioxidants and rich in protein and fiber. They can do wonders for your skin and hair.

Honey To boost sweetness further, add honey. Skip honey if you think the smoothie has enough sweetness from the fruits themselves.

You can replace it with maple syrup or agave nectar for a vegan smoothie.

You can also add 1 tablespoon of protein powder to this smoothie if you are making it for your pre-or post-workout meal.

Add nuts and seeds like hemp seeds, flax seeds, cashew nuts, etc. Greens like spinach or kale also work well in this recipe.

Tips For The Best Kiwi Smoothie

If you love making smoothies and are looking for healthy and tasty ones, then this kiwi quencher tropical smoothie is for you! And while the recipe is straightforward to make, I have several top tips for a perfect smoothie every time.

  • Frozen strawberries are a must. Fresh strawberries will make your strawberry kiwi smoothie watery and thin. Frozen berries will give you a super thick, cold, and creamy consistency. Tip: Let your strawberries defrost on the counter for 5 to 10 minutes to blend easier.
  • Load your ingredients in the right order. Start with the liquids, then add the yogurt and kiwi, and finally the frozen strawberries. If you have a hard time blending this, you might have loaded it up wrong.
  • Increase the speed while blending. For a nice smooth texture, start blending on low and gradually increase the speed to high. If necessary, add a little more milk to get the ingredients moving. Before serving, give your smoothie a quick stir and if you notice chunks remaining, blend again.

Expert Tips And Tricks

  • Use a combo of fresh and frozen fruits. This makes the ingredients easier to blend together.
  • A higher-fat milk is worth it. The creamiest smoothies are made with higher-fat milks such as cows milk, oat milk, and coconut milk.
  • Freeze fresh strawberries for the most flavor. If strawberries are in season this will be the tastiest option.
  • Make sure the kiwi is ripe. Unripe kiwis will be tart and youll end up needing to add a lot more sweetener.
  • Get creative with it. Add in tons of other healthy ingredients to up the nutritional content.

Healthy Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie

Happy spring! I love this time of year and I’m so excited to be sharing a beautiful Healthy Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie recipe with you today.

Things in my neck of the woods are warming right up. The lovely thing about living in a high desert is that it’s still nice and cool at night though it can get into the seventies during the day already. I planted a raised 8 foot by 6 foot box of strawberry pants last year and planted four little rhubarb plants down the center of the box. I kept calling it my “pie box” all summer. You aren’t supposed to pick any rhubarb the first year you transplant the new plants and you aren’t supposed to let any fruit on a first year strawberry plant mature either , so all last year I watered, weeded, and looked forward to a warm spring day when I would be able to pick fresh sweet strawberries and slender red rhubarb from my very own yard. That day is just around the corner and I literally can’t wait. Setting down roots has some awesome perks.

While we are waiting for our patch to produce we’ve been buying our share of strawberries from the store. I bought 2 pounds last week on Saturday night to enjoy with french toast on Sunday morning. I slept in until 8 am but the kids had gotten up at their usual 7 am. In that one hour they ate every single strawberry I had bought the night before. It goes without saying, they are going to love picking fresh berries whenever they want.

How Long Does Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie Last

Any smoothie left at room temperature should be consumed within 2 hours. The smoothies texture, color, and flavor will degrade in time, and it may also spoil if its out too long.

For longer storage, we recommend refrigeration. Placing the smoothie into the fridge can extend its shelf life for up to 2 days. In the freezer, itll last 3 months. There might be separation and a change in quality, but it will stay edible within this time frame.

Of course, placing the smoothie into air-tight containers is important. If your fridge is a bit crowded, Ziploc or bio-degradable bags are really helpful for saving space.

If you want to prep smoothies for a month or two, skip the ice entirely and just create a smoothie paste. Portion out this paste and freeze it. When you need a smoothie, blend the paste along with the amount of ice you desire to create a cold, thick smoothie that tastes and looks fresh.
