Add all the ingredients to a blender in the order listed. Blend until smooth.

*Starting with liquids first and adding solid ingredients will ensure any smoothie recipe blends even and smooth.

2.Sip up!

Transfer the smoothie to a glass or to-go cup and sip away!

The best part is that I can put all of the ingredients in my blender the night before and store it in the fridge or make smoothie freezer packs, so in the morning, all I have to do is blend, and its ready to go!

What Is The Best Blender

The struggle with finding a quality blender within budget can be real tricky. It took me years to finally get the vitamix I now have and the only reason was because my husband gifted it to me. And even then, he found a refurbished one!

That being said, Ill share my insight and experience with various blender options below. Hopefully it can help you a bit in the search for what works best for you!

Vitamix I have a refurbished standard model of the Vitamix and love it. Its the most powerful and efficient blender Ive ever used and can be used for everything from smoothies to soups, sauces, nut butters, homemade nut milk, and more. Its also easy to clean and they have great customer support with lots of replacement options available if needed. They can be quite pricey though so I suggest looking at dependable refurbished options or investing in an explorian model if youre financially able to.

Ninja Ive used both their stand blender and small top blender before. The stand blender definitely has more power and is better for large portions or harder to blend ingredients. The small top blender is great for small spaces or if you only plan on making blends like a smoothie, frothy drink, or pulsing nuts/seeds, etc.

This recipe calls for cacao powder, which you can find in natural food stores and in most grocery stores nowadays. I like to buy it at Trader Joe’s or Thrive Market to save money. Raw cacao is a powder made from cold-pressing unroasted beans which removes the cacao butter.

Additionally, some grocery stores stock cacao powder in the baking aisle or health food section. If you cant find cacao powder, substitute an equal amount of cocoa powder in the smoothie.

Whether youre looking for a quick and delicious breakfast or a satisfying snack, this chocolate smoothie is the perfect healthy drink. Just make sure whichever cocoa or cacao powder you use doesn’t have any sweetener in it. You’ll add it to smoothies with natural fruit sweeteners, so no need for anything extra!

    Ingredients In This Banana Smoothie:

    • Banana I always keep frozen bananas in my freezer for just this occasion. AND frozen is definitely best in this recipe is it results in a much creamier smoothie! If all else fails though, an unfrozen banana will still totally work. You cna throw a few ice cubes in to give it a cold and creamy texture.
    • Milk Ive been on a big oat milk kick lately but really any kind works here. You could also swap the milk for water if desired.
    • Yogurt I like to use a plain, unflavored and unsweetened dairy-free yogurt but again, really anything works well here. You could even use a flavored yogurt as desired.
    • Peanut Butter MOST often, I use a simple runny peanut butter when making this banana smoothie. However, you could also leave out the natural peanut butter and instead use peanut butter powder. Itll still have the delicious peanut butter taste but with less fat and calories ).
