What Can I Eat Instead Of Banana

SMOOTHIE ALMOND MILK BANANA BLUEBERRY **HOW I MAKE IT** (OAG)

A lot of us eat bananas because we know they are good for us and that they are packed full of potassium. What does potassium do for the body? Well, its one of the most important nutrients and works toward lowering your blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Fruits that have a healthy amount of potassium are:

  • Avocado

You can also fill up on black beans or edamame.

Store Bought Vs Homemade Almond Milk

Banana Smoothie With Almond Milk

Making a banana smoothie with almond milk is easy and delicious. This drink contains many nutrients such as fiber and protein. It is also high in calories. You can add a little bit of chocolate or chia seeds to enhance the flavor. It is a perfect drink for hot summer days. Blend the ingredients together for at least 1 minute. Garnish with fresh strawberries or flaked nuts, if desired. Using a high-powered blender, puree the ingredients. Serve immediately.

This smoothie is best served right away, but you can modify it to make it your own. You can use frozen or fresh bananas. It is best to use frozen fruits, but if you are on a diet, you can use a combination of frozen or fresh fruit. Once the smoothie is blended, add yogurt and oats. Add a dash of honey, if desired. It is best served immediately, though you can store it in the refrigerator.

For a thicker smoothie, add more ice. If you like your bananas sweet, you can add some honey or maple syrup, but remember that almond milk does not compete with nut butters. The banana smoothie recipe with almond milk contains approximately 200 calories and is a perfect healthy breakfast. You can even include a few pieces of oats in your smoothie. Once youve made your banana smoothie, try adding a teaspoon of mashed avocado or a teaspoon of peanut butter for a healthier snack or treat.

What Fruit Is Equal To Banana

Almond Milk, Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie

If you are looking for a fruit to add to your smoothies that is equal for goodness, go for the avocado. One half of an avocado gives you 345 mg of potassium. A medium-sized banana has 422 mg of potassium, so the avocado is a comparable choice. Dont worry about the fat content, because avocado contains healthy fats and tons of vitamins.

Not only are avocados nutritional powerhouses, but avocados will give your smoothie the creamy thickness that bananas do, too.

  • You could easily substitute another frozen fruit for the frozen strawberries. Frozen raspberries, blueberries, mango, peaches, or pineapple would all be delicious.
  • If youre using only fresh fruit make sure to add a handful of ice to cool the smoothie down and thicken it up!
  • If youre using only frozen fruit you may need to add a little extra liquid to make sure the smoothie will move freely through your blender blades.
  • This smoothie could be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. It wont be as thick if you drink it later but it will still be delicious!
  • If you want to add some extra nutrients to this smoothie feel free to throw in some add ins! Chia seeds, hemp seeds, almond butter, and collagen would all be good.

But the absolutely number one negative comment I get on that post is from banana-haters why do they all have to use bananas? Well, I love the sweetness and creaminess a frozen banana adds to a smoothie, but I HEARD you, friends. And today, weve got a whole new set of eight smoothies for youand this time, there isnt a single banana in sight!

Even better than that, all the smoothies are dairy-free and contain no added sugarmaking them paleo and vegan-friendly.

Choosing The Right Ingredients

This berry smoothie recipe is forgiving you can mix up frozen and fresh berries, choose a flavored yogurt, add honey if desired, and substitute milk for coconut water. Play around with the ingredients and get it exactly to your liking.

  • Berries/Fresh Strawberries. I use all frozen berries except for the strawberries those are fresh. Use all fresh or all frozen or some fresh/some frozen. Really, do whatever is most convenient for you. I will suggest, though, if you use all fresh berries, youll need to add a little ice to thicken the smoothie up.
  • Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt also creates a thick, creamy texture. Besides bananas , Greek yogurt is one of my favorite ingredients in smoothies. I use vanilla flavored, but any flavor is fine. Plain, strawberry, blueberry, honey, whatever. Maybe even a peach flavor? Get creative.
  • Coconut water. Add coconut water to thin things out. If you do not like coconut water or dont have any, use milk instead. I tried this with vanilla almond milk and its just as tasty.
  • Honey. Outside of peak season, strawberries arent very sweet. Even when I use frozen strawberries , the smoothie tastes quite tart. A little honey sweetens up the whole glass, but its optional. Taste test the smoothie after blending everything up. Then add the honey if you see fit or leave it out totally your preference.
  • Ingredients For An Almond Butter Smoothie

    • Almond butter: This nut butter is loaded with healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. In particular, its rich in vitamin E, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
    • Banana: Be sure to use frozen bananas for a thick consistency and refreshing, chilled flavor. Not only do they provide a natural sweetness, but theyre also a great source of potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C.
    • Non-dairy yogurt: Use your favorite vegan yogurt for a creamy consistency. There are various options to choose from, including those made from almond milk, coconut milk, and oat milk. If you consume dairy, you can use traditional yogurt instead.
    • Maple syrup: Sweetening this smoothie is entirely optional. Many will find the smoothie to be plenty sweet all on its own, but you can add a spoonful of maple syrup if youd like. Medjool dates, agave nectar, and honey also act as healthier ways to sweeten a smoothie.
    • Vanilla: Pure vanilla extract is a secret ingredient that makes banana smoothies oh so delicious! If youre already using a vanilla-flavored yogurt, you can go ahead and skip this ingredient.
    • Cinnamon: This healthy spice has anti-inflammatory and metabolism-boosting benefits.
    • Almond milk: Blend the ingredients with almond milk or another plant-based milk of your choosing.

The Health Benefits Of This Breakfast Smoothie

I love this Healthy Almond Milk smoothie because it is loaded with nutrient-packed ingredients that I want to start the day eating.

    Healthy ingredient 1: almond butter

Almond butter: I use almond butter in this smoothie because it adds a whole list of nutrients and minerals. Just to name a few, you get:

    • vitamin E
    • riboflavin
    • folate

Get an extra boost with this Superfood Almond Butter. It has added organic goji, organic chia, and organic hemp seeds, and it comes in easy to use pouches!

    Healthy ingredient 2: chia seeds

Chia seeds: On the health side, chia seeds are packed with nutrients including iron, potassium, calcium, as well as vitamins C, E, B1, B2, and B3. Plus, they help keep you full since they expand a bit.

I use ground chia seeds in this recipe because it’s easy to add a scoop of it in without presoaking. If you have whole chia seeds, soak them for 10 minutes before blending.

You can read more about adding whole chia seeds in smoothies in this Blueberry Chia Smoothie recipe.

    Healthy ingredient 3: Blueberries

Blueberries: These little superfoods are a great source of antioxidants, vitamins C and K, manganese, and fiber.

Particularly, blueberries are my favorite fruit to add to smoothies because you can easily buy them in frozen packs. The small size of blueberries makes them easy for blenders to power through quickly.

    Healthy ingredient 4: oats

You can use old fashioned oats too. But, you might want to let the smoothie sit a bit after blending before drinking.

    The Right Smoothie Ratios

Blueberry Banana Apple Almond Milk Smoothie: Directions ...

Start your smoothie with two mugfuls of a liquid base. This can be milk, or a dairy-free alternative such as soya or almond milk, natural or flavoured yogurt, fruit juice, or for a tropical flavoured smoothie, low-fat coconut milk or coconut water. It’s important to add the liquid to your blender before adding the fruit, as this will prevent the blade from getting damaged.

Next, add about three quarters of a mug of your chosen fruit. Banana is a great base flavour for any smoothie, and will give you a lovely creamy texture. Other fruits that work well are berries, mango, peaches, plums, nectarines, grated apple or pear, and melon. You may have to add more fruit or liquid, depending on the type of fruit you choose. Play around until you have a texture you like. Add a squeeze of honey, maple syrup or agave syrup if your smoothie needs it, and finally add a few ice cubes to the blender for a thick and frosty smoothie.

    What Foods Are Anti

Let food be your medicine. You CAN lose excess weight, reduce chronic pain, and reduce your risk of serious chronic illness ~ and even possibly reverse chronic illness ~ simply by making positive changes to your diet. Cut out inflammatory foods and add in more whole, healthy, anti-inflammatory foods that are nutrient dense, high in omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants.

Here are some foods to start incorporating into your diet:

    • Berries
    • Seeds and nuts
    • Beans and legumes

Adding these and other ANTI-inflammatory foods into your diet reduces oxidative stress, increases absorption of vital nutrients and triggers a number of reactions and critical body processes. These create a reduction in inflammation and begin to reverse the damage created by poor food choices.

As you continue to increase these foods in your diet and reduce or eliminate more harmful foods, you WILL lose weight and have LESS bloating, pain and swelling. If you have a chronic illness, you are likely to notice a reduction in symptoms and improved overall health.

Depending on your circumstances, a gradual shift in your diet may reduce the likelihood of backsliding, however choose based on your personal health needs and the recommendations of your healthcare professionals and nutritionists.

    About This Banana Smoothie

I love cooking with bananas, so I always keep a bunch on hand in my kitchen. In fact, several of my favorite recipes feature this perfectly sweet and starchy fruit! I could eat them practically all day: Eggless Banana Pancakes for breakfast, Banana Cake, Banana Bread, Banana Muffins for desserts and Banana Milkshake for drinks.

Ok, perhaps that is all a bit much for one day. But I still stand by my love for all things banana, and therefore wanted to create a smoothie recipe for a banana-tastic snack to add to my banana-all-day wishlist.

Smoothies can be made from just about any piece of produce. You simply need a fairly soft fruit, a liquid for creating the drinkable texture, and a good blender or mixer.

In this easy 3-ingredient banana smoothie, I use ripe bananas that are about to brown, so they are super sweet and no extra sugar needs to be added. The bananas are blended with thin coconut milk for a slightly tropical taste and great creaminess. And a healthy pinch of cinnamon adds a slightly smoky and sweet flavor!

I usually make these vegan banana smoothies for a healthy and filling breakfast. Theyre also fantastic to quickly blend up for a satisfying snack on the go, or can be enjoyed as a lighter dessert.

I suggest you try this smoothie recipe whenever you need a tasty, satisfying, and filling drink.

    Ingredient Substitutions And Cooking Tips

Banana Smoothie Bowl | Oats | No Dairy | No sugar | Healthy Breakfast recipe | Vegan | Quick | Easy

You have a few options when it comes to a dairy-free milk. Soy milk boasts more protein and B vitamins. Almond milk, on the other hand, is higher in vitamin D and calcium.

Hemp milk is not traditionally a favorite however, many vegetarians are familiar with this option. Hemp milk has a creamier texture, which often works well in a smoothie. Hemp milk may be rich in the omega-3 fatty acids, but it is important to use one that is fortified with calcium and vitamins to get the most nutritious kind.

You will notice that this recipe doesn’t include any icethat’s because the trick to a satisfying dairy-free smoothie is to ditch the ice and use frozen fruit instead. This delivers maximum flavor and helps keep the smoothie from becoming watery. A mix of fresh and frozen fruit works fine depending on what you have on hand. For best results, at least half of the fruit should be the frozen.

When you have bananas that are becoming overripe, simply peel them and put them in a zippered plastic bag in your freezer. They will be perfect to toss into your smoothie at a moment’s notice. Don’t worry if they turn somewhat browntheir flavor won’t be affected. The frozen banana will add a creamy texture to the smoothie.

If you like your smoothie on the sweeter side you can add ingredients like maple syrup, dates, agave, honey, or even non-calorie sweeteners if you want to keep the calories in check.
