I struggle to eat enough fruit! This Strawberry Smoothie Without Yogurt makes it easy peasy to dump 2 servings of fruit in one go.
I love vegetables to death! All of them. They all taste like glory to me. Fruits taste great once I have them in my mouth but for some reason, I hardly ever crave them. Am I the only one?
I had to come up with a way of consuming more fruit and this smoothie made it really easy for me. Im more of a protein-rich green smoothie type o gal.
Just strawberries, which are low in sugar and high in vitamin C would have been great but it made the smoothie super sour.

Lets dive straight into the basic how to steps for creating delicious dairy-free smoothies
If you havent tried frozen banana in a smoothie yet, youre in for a treat. Were not sure of the science behind it, but lets just say that something magical happens when you pop an average-looking banana in the freezer compartment for an hour or two. It changes the texture completely, and creates a genuinely creamy quality that is an ideal yogurt or milk replacement for dairy-free smoothies.
Tasty tip Frozen banana actually makes a spectacular ice-cream substitute too, but thats an entire article in itself and we need to stay focused here

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients
Okay so besides the fact that this smoothie is soooo delicious, its also pretty amazing because its made with just THREE ingredients! I dont think it gets much easier than that.
And believe it or not these healthy smoothies are made without yogurt, without dairy, and without juice. WOO!
So what do you need to make a strawberry banana smoothie?
- A large banana I typically use a fresh banana, but if you want an even thicker smoothie, or if its all you have on hand you can absolutely use a frozen banana. I like my strawberry banana smoothie to be a bit more strawberry forward in flavor so this recipe only calls for 1 banana to make 2 smoothies. If you want more banana flavor you can add a second banana!
- Frozen strawberries Frozen strawberries are what make this smoothie THICK. If you dont have any frozen strawberries you can substitute fresh in a pinch but youll want to add a handful of ice to your smoothie to cool it down and thicken it up.
- Non dairy milk of choice Almond milk, oat milk, cashew milk, and hemp milk are all fantastic options. Remember the creamier the plant based milk the creamier your smoothie will be!
And of course a blender! My Vitamix is my best friend in the kitchen but any powerful blender will work.
Because this smoothie recipe is made with just 1 banana for two smoothies its not super duper sweet. If you prefer your smoothie sweeter you can either add a second banana or a bit of honey / maple syrup to sweeten it to taste!

If you are looking for a drink to help cool you down this summer, this smoothie recipe is it! My sweet summer smoothie is the picture of summertime perfection. It features fresh, summery fruits with a slight tropical twist. It is a smoothie without yogurt that everyone will love.
I absolutely adore the simplicity of this berry smoothie. It only requires four ingredients to make a perfect, flavorful, cold drink your family will love. It is a go-to drink in our house and my kids love it.
Here is what you need to make this berry smoothie recipe:
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 cup frozen mango
Blend all of the ingredients together well, pureeing them until perfectly smooth. Pour the berry smoothie into two glasses and enjoy while they are nice and cold.
The almond milk used in this recipe keeps the drink dairy-free. However, if you prefer to use regular milk or coconut milk, both would work wonderfully. A little more milk will make the berry smoothie thinner while some ice cubes will help to thicken it up. Whole milk will give the drink a little more calcium as well.
You can buy frozen mixed berries in almost any grocery store along with the frozen mango pieces. You can also freeze your own fresh fruit. Freeze some more berries to have on hand so you can make this berry smoothie recipe without yogurt anytime youd like!
Can You Make A Smoothie With Water Instead Of Milk
Yes! Water is a great way to add a little bit of liquid to your smoothies without the use of milk.
A great example of this is our Ginger Peach Detox Smoothie.
This smoothie uses just a cup of water in addition to high liquid fruits and vegetables including lemon, orange, apple, and cucumber.
Its important to note that you do not want to use a large amount of water in your smoothies or they can easily become too watery and lose flavor.
The best way that I have found is to combine high liquid fruits and vegetables with just enough water to blend.
This way you get a super thick and creamy smoothie without being watery.
It is also important to note here that you will need to use a high speed blender such as a vitamix or blendtec for best results and creamy smoothies.
Banana Almond Butter Smoothie
Not all smoothies have to be super packed with fruit. This banana smoothie made with raw almond butter is the perfect example of a heartier, less fruity smoothie.
Take a look at the ingredients needed for this smoothie recipe. You probably have a lot of these in your pantry already!
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 tablespoon raw almond butter
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
Almond butter makes the smoothie very thick and naturally sweet. Almond butter is very healthy and contains lots of fiber, protein, and your daily dose of magnesium. You can also add peanut butter in place of almond butter. Buy natural, unsweetened peanut butter for the best results.
Vanilla almond milk and vanilla extract give the smoothie a tasty, vanilla flavor. Try coconut cream in place of almond milk if you want to make your smoothie even richer.
Frozen bananas make the smoothie thick. If you didnt have time to freeze the banana, just add a few handfuls of ice cubes to the blender. Your smoothie with no yogurt will come out perfectly!
I love this smoothie recipe because it is so flexible. Here are the base ingredients that I use:
- One bottle of Cocozia Coconut water
- One frozen banana
- Handful of frozen peaches, berries, and mango
Choose to add only strawberries to make a tasty coconut, strawberry smoothie. Use just mango as the fruit for a pretty orange smoothie without yogurt. Toss some frozen pineapple chunks into the blender along with mango to make a very tropical drink. The possibilities are endless!

For best results, dont use tougher skinned fruit, like pears and apples unless youre using a powerful blender, suggests Adler.

And ¼ to ½ of an avocado can turn any smoothie into a decadent meal you can eat with a spoon. The healthy fats found in an avocado will help you stay full for hours.

Green Mango Spinach Smoothie
Smoothies are a great way to ensure that you get your daily dose of vegetables. Blending veggies into a smoothie along with fruit, like mango, can help mask the taste of the spinach.
My fat-free spinach smoothie not only has healthy, green spinach but also has broccoli. This bonus vegetable makes the smoothie even more packed full of vitamins and minerals.
The strong sugar flavor of the mango masks a lot of the potent vegetable flavor. You can use frozen mango to make the drink nice and thick. A scoop of chia seeds and bee pollen adds slight flavor, protein, vitamin c, and antioxidants to the drink.
Here are the ingredients you need to make two servings of delicious, dairy-free green smoothies:
- 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup broccoli florets
- 1 tsp chia seed
Use your favorite, high-speed blender to puree the ingredients until smooth. You really want to be sure to make this as creamy as possible.
I also like to add a handful of ice cubes to ensure it is perfectly chilled. A little honey will add some natural sugar. Add some pineapple chunks for a more tropical flavor or any of your favorite fruits. A banana will make the drink thicker, too.
I love this smoothie without yogurt or fat when I need a healthy boost of energy. It doesnt have much sugar, not too veggie-packed, and almost no fat. A big healthy cup of smoothie does the body good!

Replace Yogurt With Plant Based Milk
Replacing yogurt with milk as point #1 is a common choice, but you can substitute with plant-based milk if youre vegan or lactose intolerant.
The main idea why most people are adding yogurt is because it will give their smoothie a good amount of fats from the milk. In the end, it will make the smoothie thick as fudge.
The good thing is we can still get some amount of fats from plants, especially from peanuts. That is why it is very common to use almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk to replace dairy milk.
These vegan milk are easy to get in the groceries, or if you want, you can make at home with a juicer or blender.
Ingredient Alternatives To This Mixed Berry Smoothie Recipe
This berry smoothie recipe is a healthy vegetarian option, with honey. To make a vegan berry smoothie, use maple syrup or agave instead of honey to sweeten.
You can also swap frozen mixed berries with any fruit of your choice, such as frozen pineapple, frozen mango, and more. To add even more nutrition to this already antioxidant-packed smoothie, pop some frozen spinach in your juicer.
