Use Fresh Strawberries If Possible
If you only have frozen strawberries on hand, thats fineyour smoothie will still be delicious! All fresh fruit or all frozen fruit works, too. If all your fruit is frozen, you may need to blend it for a bit longer and add an extra 1/4 cup of water.
Use unsweetened almond milk or another non-dairy milk in your smoothies if you want to keep the carbs and sugar content down. Opt for honey or maple syrup to sweeten a smoothie as needed. But if your fruit ingredients are extra sweet, you may not even need to add any additional sweetener.

Are strawberry banana smoothies good for you?
Strawberry Banana Smoothies can be good for you. This recipe has added greek yogurt and protein powder to help make it more filling and high in protein while being low in fat.
What should you not mix in a smoothie?
There are really no wrong things to add into a smoothie. We try to not add a ton of fruit to our smoothies, only because theyre not as filing as if you were to add protein and yogurt to them.
Can you make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie ahead of time?
We wouldnt recommend making this smoothie ahead of time. Smoothies can separate after they sit for too long, and youd likely need to re-mix it up. You can slice your fruit ahead of time and put it in a container in the refrigerator to save time.

Whats In This Strawberry Protein Shake
Now onto the most important part of this guide, the recipe! This strawberry protein shake contains
1. Unsweetened Almond Milk
If you want to reduce the amount of sugar you consume in your drink, I recommend that you use unsweetened almond milk. Not only is it naturally low in calories but its also rich in good fats. Its an excellent source of vitamin E which is a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects your body from free radical damage.
2. Greek Yogurt
I love me some creamy smoothies and to honest, strawberries dont exactly give you the same texture as bananas. But dont you worry, of course I found a workaround! Greek yogurt is creamy, high in protein and will keep you full. Triple threat. Discover more surprising benefits of Greek Yogurt in this post.
3. Vanilla Protein Powder
Some people actually use strawberry protein powder for their shakes but I personally like to add the actual fruit. So to give my shakes that vanilla taste I opt for vanilla protein powder instead which can also boost the flavor of your shake.
I swear honey is such an underrated superfood. It is loaded with essential nutrients such as calcium, copper, iron and magnesium which does wonders to your protein packed drink. Gives your shakes a kiss of sweetness, too.

Because smoothies are all the rage in my house right now. Whats for breakfast? SMOOTHIES. What kind of smoothies? Strawberry Banana Oatmeal Protein Smoothie. Thats a mouthful of words, isnt it?
The smoothies that I bring into this world rarely contain dairy. First, milk is my stomachs arch nemesis. My stomach and milk have duked it out many times. As a result, milk often wins the battle and I end up with a stomach ache. However, if I utilize the Lactaid super power, Im usually okay with milk. Lactaid helps me destroy milks evil, destructive digestive destroyer lactose. BUT, I dont really like taking lactaid.
And I dont like nasty battles, so I play it safe and make non-dairy smoothies.
If milk is your arch nemesis too, then this smoothie is your new best friend. I made this Strawberry Banana Oatmeal Protein Smoothie with Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Vanilla Almond Milk with a hint of honey. No lactose. Nada. None. Zilch.

Most people love smoothies and shakes, some dont really know the differences between them because after all the both cold and refreshing, drinkable, and delicious! In my opinion it all comes down to ice cream. . . yes, its true!
Smoothies do not have ice cream, candy bars, cookies or pies in them. Smoothies are filled with healthy for you ingredients like fruit and veggies and healthier forms of protein and dairy.
Dont get me wrong. . . I enjoy them both as probably most of you do too! I just enjoy smoothies on a more regular basis and shakes wellllll theyre a more special occasion or dessert kind of treat.

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Ingredients
Frozen Banana: This will make your smoothie nice & creamy.
Frozen Strawberries: Packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins. Plus, they’re yummy!
Frozen Pomegranates: I love adding these for an extra boost of antioxidants and to help balance out the banana flavor. If you want to omit, add 4 more frozen strawberries or a full banana.
Vanilla or Coconut Protein Powder: Either of these flavors will work well with the bananas, strawberries, and pomegranates!
Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk: The subtle vanilla flavor of the almond milk adds a touch more sweetness to bring this smoothie together. The liquid will also help blend.
Important For A Super Thick Smoothie
- Use frozen fruit for best results. I like to freeze my bananas in slices for better blending.
- Add in avocado. Just a little bit of avocado blended into your smoothie makes it SO creamy and delicious!
- Start with less liquid. Ive suggested 3/4 cup almond milk and you could even start with 1/2 cup and then add a little at a time until you get the consistency you like.
- The spinach doesnt make the smoothie more or less creamy, but you wont even taste it and there are tons of health benefits.
