In search of a product to help define my hair into something that resembled curls, I chatted with my natural hair sisters on Twitter. I got lots of feedback and decided to purchase the Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie from Target for $9.99 for 12 ounces.
The first thing I did in the store was read the ingredients. Theres a long list of ingredients NOT found in the product. This was great because Im learning what to stay away from and this just made it easier.
Woah! Thats a great list! With all that not in it, what is in it?
- Water
- Honeysuckle Flower Extract, Lonicera Flower Extract, Japenese Flower Extract
- Vitamin E
This is an awesome list of ingredients!
After reading all of this in excitement, I opened the jar to assess the texture and the WONDERFULLY AMAZING fragrance hit me! BAM!
This product smells delicious! You really feel like you can eat it its very strong, but subtle at the same time.
As you can see from the pics this product has a very thick consistencywhich my frizzy hair needs.
I was very disappointed. After thinking about it, I figured out what I did wrong.
I couldnt give up on this product though. It has all the right ingredientsand it has none of the wrong ones. It smells delicious and its called Curl
Enhancing Smoothie for goodness sake!

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie Review
Have you guys been loving this product. You cant beat the price of $9.99 for a 12oz container. You can find it at Target, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid and online stores.
Its a great moisturizer for natural hair. I find that during summer months a little goes along way. I can even moisturize every other day but during winter months I tend to use a little bit more since the weather is so dry outside and my hair gets dry faster.

How I Use It :
- I wait until my hair is 10% dry then apply Shea moisture organic raw shea butter restorative leave in conditioner, then apply the Shea moisture Smoothie.
- Seal with coconut oil and twist. Sometimes i use Eco Styler olive oil gel for extra definition. Sleep with the twists overnight and unravel the next day with coconut oil.
- I use it to Re-Twist every night.
My Thoughts On The Product
It has a sweet pleasant smell which I love. I use it as a daily hair moisturizer and its great for my twist outs or braid outs.
The twist outs always come out so soft and super defined and the curls pop really well. A little goes a long way and its not greasy at all, and thats a plus. Its very buttery and my hair always feels moisturized the whole day. Great for my type 4 hair. It seriously does what it claims. It moisturizes and adds shine.

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
Id heard wonderful thing about this so I decided to try it. It was 10.99 at my local Walgreens. Thats a good price for a curling product, which is what I though this was but.its not. The first day I washed and conditioned my hair and then applied the Curl enhancing smoothie when I stepped out the shower. It made my hair super soft and my curls looked good, which they usually do when they are wet. I skipped off to go about my day happy-go-lucky as my hair dried. It was about 3 pm when I finally found my self face to face with a mirror. What I saw, I did not like. My beautiful coils were barely defined and poofed up in a fro, a very soft fro, but a still a fro. Im not a big afro fan. I love my hair in coils so I decided to give the curl enhancing smoothie some help.

This cream is marketed toward those with thick, curly hair who want moisture, body and shine.

5 Things I Like About This Product:
1. It is super thcik and a little product goes a LONG way. I have done two sets up twists, one set of braids, a DC and used it on my sons hair for over a week and yet we have barely put a dent in the jar.
2. The ingredients are amazing! Everything you would want in a hair product and none of the stuff you dont. You can actually read the ingredients list and know what you are putting in your hair.
5. Delightfully, tropical scent that smells like a smoothie.
