Michael Cole interviewed both Roman Reigns and Goldberg on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown to hype up their Universal title match at Elimination Chamber.
Goldberg was his usual confident self. He made it clear that he will take the Universal title off Reigns and head towards WrestleMania to face Brock Lesnar.

He assured that he would bring back the “old Goldberg” that everyone remembers. The problem? The aura has long gone after how WWE has presented Goldberg over the past few years, and fan reactions to his presence are nowhere near what they once used to be.
Goldberg’s backstage interview with Cole wasn’t anything special and wasn’t something fans haven’t seen on various occasions in the recent past.
The only silver lining here is Roman Reigns cutting top-notch promos like the one from tonight’s SmackDown. As is usually the case, The Tribal Chief delivered a couple of great lines.
Reigns nailed the delivery when he said that if he were in WCW, the promotion would still be in business. He then finished off with another epic line, stating that he’s going to “Goldberg,” Goldberg.
Sami Zayn Captured The Intercontinental Championship
Shinsuke Nakamura defended the Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn tonight on SmackDown. Zayn avoided Shinsuke early until he could get him in a Headlock. Nakamura broke free and connected with an Enziguri. Nakamura followed it up with Good Vibrations and the running knee in the corner. Sami battled back and sent Nakamura to the floor outside the ring and sent him into the steel steps as SmackDown went to a break.
When SmackDown returned, Sami had Nakamura in a Crossface but the champion escaped. Zayn connected with a Clothesline and went for the cover but Nakamura kicked out at two. Nakamura hit a Dropkick and sent Sami to the corner of the ring.
Shinsuke connected with the sliding German Suplex but Sami kicked out at two. Sami went for the Blue Thunder Bomb but Nakamura was able to block it. Zayn quickly hit a Michinoku Driver but couldnt put Shinsuke away. Nakamura rolled out of the ring and Sami went for a dive but Shinsuke countered with a kick. Shinsuke went for the Kinshasa but wound up hitting the steel steps as SmackDown went to a break.

Ivar faced Jey Uso tonight on SmackDown. The Usos will be defending the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Viking Raiders at Elimination Chamber. Uso hit a Superkick and unloaded some punches in the corner. Ivar battled back with a Side Slam and went for a Crossbody but Jey dodged it. Ivar hit a Clothesline and climbed to the top rope. Ivar hit a Splash but Jimmy interfered to end the match in a DQ. Jimmy hit Ivar with the Viking Raiders head gear.

They lock up and Flair hits a shoulder tackle. Flair slams her face to the mat. Naomi ducks a clothesline and hits a hurricanrana. She drops Flair from the apron with an enziguiri and hits a crossbody on the floor to take us to the break.
Flair has taken over as we return. Naomi hits a big kick to the face as she get back to the ring. She stuns Flair with another big kick. Naomi hits a blockbuster from the top rope for a near fall. Flair drives her into the steel steps to send us to the break again.
Flair has a chinlock on as we return. The crowd hypes Naomi and she hits a jawbreaker. She hits another crossbody for a two-count. Naomi hits a springboard enziguiri for a near fall. Naomi drives Flair into the turnbuckle. Flair ducks a move before countering codebreaker with a powerbomb for a two-count.
Naomi gets her knees up on the moonsault and hits rearview. Flair somehow kicks out of the pin. Naomi goes for the split-legged moonsault but Flair gets her knees up. Naomi gets more close counts after spiking Flair on the mat but Flair keeps kicking out of the pin. Naomi finally connects the split-legged moonsault for another near fall. Flair then gets her leg to the bottom rope as Naomi goes for another pin.
Flair drops her face on the top rope. Naomi unloads with forearms and then hits a big kick to the head. Flair counters rear view with a chop block and hits Natural Selection to get the pin and the win.

Drew Mcintyre Warned Madcap Moss
Drew McIntyre came to the ring and spoke about winding up in the back of a police car a few years back at WrestleMania in New Orleans. McIntyre added that another cop let him out and he partied the night away. Drew said hes been reflecting a lot about his career since Madcap Moss & Happy Corbin tried to take him out.
Footage of the attack was shown and McIntyre said he wanted to play it so he could remember how it felt when the doctor told him he wasnt going to make it back. McIntyre said it is anything goes at Elimination Chamber and he could drown Madcap Moss in the Red Sea.
Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss interrupted and came down to the entrance ramp. Moss made a Snap, Crackle, & Pop joke about McIntyres neck and Drew responded by telling Moss that hes made a mistake by aligning himself with Happy Corbin. McIntyre added that the laughter will die at Elimination Chamber.

Best: Naomi Gave One Of The Best Performances Of Her Career On Wwe Smackdown

In the show’s main event, Naomimet Charlotte Flair for the latter’s WWE SmackDown Women’s title tonight.
Both performers hit all cylinders, and the 20-minute outing left fans wanting more. Naomi proved once again that she needs a legit push and that she’s more than capable of hanging with the very best on the roster.
A Natural Selection from Flair ended things for Naomi, but she certainly gained the respect of her detractors. Naomi has previously won the WWE SmackDown Women’s title on two separate occasions, and her fans would love to see her win the belt again.
For the time being, though, it looks like Naomi and Sonya Deville’s feud is bound to continue, all the way to WrestleMania 38.

Goldberg & Reigns Closed The Show
Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Goldberg met face-to-face one night before their title match at Elimination Chamber. Paul Heyman accompanied Reigns to the ring.

Heyman handed the Tribal Chief a microphone and Reigns told the crowd to acknowledge him. Reigns said now celebrate me, wise man and handed the microphone back to Heyman. Paul said it was the best part of his day and the fans dont understand what is like to stand close to true greatness. Heyman added that he finds the experience spiritually orgasmic.
Paul poked fun at the Saints football team and the crowd booed. Heyman said that the 11th commandment on the island of relevancy is thou shall not interrupt the wise mans promo as the New Orleans crowd the crowd chanted Who Dat? for the Saints. Goldbergs theme hit and a security guard was shown knocking on his door.
Goldberg made his way to the ring and opted to drop the microphone instead of speaking to Reigns. Roman told Goldberg that this was his final chance to acknowledge him. Goldberg responded by saying when it comes to the Universal Championship, Im next. Goldberg dropped the microphone again and had a stare down with Reigns to close the show.
