Ive provided some recipes below, but you can easily make your own if you know a few basic rules.
- Use only fruit and greens. Dont worry about food combining the fruit and greens together. Its actually good for your body first thing in the morning and is what tastes the best.
- Use frozen fruit for a thicker consistency.
- Bananas add a wonderful milk like taste and smooth consistency to drinks. They cut out bitterness and hide the taste of greens well.
- Add water or juice to make it thinner if your smoothie comes out too thick.
- When youre starting out, dont use more then 1 cup or a few leaves of greens in the recipe. Make your recipe light on greens first, and add in more as you become more familiar with blended drinks.
Dont be afraid to try new things in your recipes. Most times, it will turn out great or can be salvaged by adding more fruit or juice.

If you dont have much time, heres an easy smoothie recipe with apple juice. I love using frozen fruits in my smoothies, just because its so convenient.
You wont need to wash or cut the fruits, it requires zero preparation time. Just open the bag, add some to your blender and you can start blending.
Just because its convenient doesnt mean its less healthy.
Frozen fruits you can buy at your grocery store are picked and frozen at peak ripeness. They contain at least as many nutrients as fresh fruits.
And the best of all: frozen fruits make your smoothies taste better!
I prefer using frozen fruits instead of ice cubes. A chilled smoothie is so much more refreshing. Save the ice and add check out these frozen fruit smoothie recipes instead.

Is It Okay To Always Use The Same Greens
Dont: Use the Same Greens Every Single Time
When choosing greens for your GGS, remember that rotation is key. This will ensure you get a variety of vitamins and minerals. You will also avoid the rare issue of oxalates that can affect some people. Oxalates are organic acids found naturally in plants, animals, and humans.
Some health conditions require limiting oxalates in the diet, but these are extremely rare. However, rotating your greens is still important. This is so you are getting the widest variety of nutrients possible.
Some research shows that oxalic acid can bind in some plants and prevent some calcium absorption. This is in foods such as caffeine products, cola drinks, asparagus and certain greens, including spinach.
However, the degree to which this occurs is controversial. In the book Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Stanley Davidson points out that the chelating effect of oxalic acid on minerals like calcium is most likely negligible.
In Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices, Dr. Norman Walker shares, that when greens are cooked , oxalic acid binds irreversibly with calcium. This is turn, hinders its absorption and crystallizing in the kidneys.Many different experts nowadays, such as Dr. Christiane Northrop, write that the potential harms of overeating spinach are probably overestimated.

Are Juices And Smoothies The Same Thing
A lil pet peeve of mine is when people refer to our beloved GGS as a juice. It.Is.A.Smoothie!! Whats the diff?!
The difference is the fiber.
