A Trick To Blending This Avocado Smoothie
Heres a trick for blending this avocado smoothie, or really any smoothie recipe:
- Blend the soft, room temperature items first. In this case, that means the avocado, green apple, banana, and greens. Blend those first with water.
- Then add the frozen items and blend until a smooth puree forms. This avoids getting the blender blades stuck by frozen fruit and ice.
How To Make It
Unlike baking recipes, for instance, smoothie recipes do not have to use exact measurements. You can adjust according to taste. The only difference in choosing between fresh or frozen fruit is how thick you want it to be. Frozen will make for a more milkshake-thick smoothie, whereas fresh will get thickened up slightly by the ice, but have a more liquidy texture. Or you can combine frozen and fresh fruit.
You can use any kind of soft fruit you want, such as berries, bananas, peeled peaches or nectarines, melons, even grapes, and puree, and know you can always add a bit more fruit or ice to thicken it or a bit more milk to thin it out.

The recipes you see for large blenders will usually be for making more than 1 serving. Whereas, the personal blender recipes you will find are portioned to make 1 serving .
NOTE: Nutribullet suggests putting the ingredients in the opposite order than what Vitamix does. For a Nutribullet you would have the hard ingredients closest to the blade and the leafy greens at the top to be blended last.

Prevent The Smoothie From Turning Brown
Cut pieces of avocados are notorious for turning brown. Blending exposes it even more to more air. Adding citric acid from fresh lime juice reduces the activity of polyphenol oxidase, the enzyme that causes browning. The ascorbic acid in the fruit also acts as an antioxidant to react with the oxygen before the enzyme. This temporarily prevents browning, so enjoy the avocado smoothie soon after blending.

How Long Can You Keep Avocado Smoothie
Similarly, you may ask, how long does avocado smoothie last in fridge?
In general, smoothies keep longer than juice. My rule of thumb is that juice will keep for about 12 hours using the method below, while a smoothie will keep up to 24 hours. Just use your eyes and nose to tell if it smells off or looks dark brown don’t drink it.
Subsequently, question is, how do you keep an avocado from turning brown in a smoothie? Seal the container and place in the fridge as soon as possible. Try to fill the container to the top to avoid extra air which will cause the smoothie to oxidize. Add a little lime or lemon juice to prevent oxidation. Take the smoothie out of the fridge when you’re ready to drink it.
Also question is, how long can you keep a smoothie in the fridge?
How do you know if a smoothie has gone bad?
How can you tell if opened juice smoothies are bad or spoiled? The best way is to smell and look at the juice smoothies: if the juice smoothies develop an off odor, flavor or appearance, or if mold develops, they should be discarded.

How To Make A Smoothie Creamier:
- Avocado is ideal for adding creaminess to smoothies. Its mild flavor disguises its nutritional wallop. After removing its skin and pit, you can add a whole avocado to your smoothie, or save some for the next day. As an alternative, add ice cream, frozenyogurt, or vanilla yogurt for more creaminess. Work your machine back up to its highest speed, and process for 10-20 seconds.

Basic Steps For How To Make A Fruit Smoothie
1. Add your frozen fruit of choice
In this case, we used blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. However, any type of frozen fruit will work great!
2. Add a yogurt or banana base to thicken
Plain greek yogurt and/or bananas are great for thickening smoothies.
3. Add protein powder
Adding protein powder helps sweeten the smoothie and, of course, adds protein. This is always an optional step!
4. Add your milk of choice
Our favorite is unsweetened almond milk, but cashew milk, coconut milk, oat milk, and regular dairy milk are all great options as well.
To make the smoothie: Simply blend everything in a single serving blender and enjoy! Another option is to pour the smoothie into mason jars and freeze for quick smoothies throughout the week. Simply thaw in the refrigerator a few hours before youre ready to drink it !
