Blueberry Almond Milk Smoothie
Pack in the protein and antioxidants with this creamy blueberry almond milk smoothie. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack!
Considering the depths of my love for the banana almond milk smoothie, which has been a semi-obsession ever since a trip many years ago to Puerto Rico, its kind of surprising I havent riffed on it more to date.
What can I say, Im a die-hard creature of habit. I find something I like, and stick with it.
But a mega-sale on frozen wild blueberries awhile back finally gave me the push I needed to stray from our original almond milk smoothie, and my goodness, am I ever glad.

Strawberry Blueberry Banana Smoothie
This is a very simple combination that we all agree is delicious. I like to freeze all of the fruit ahead of time so that the smoothies get cold without any ice needed. On the rare occasion that I forget to pop some berries in the freezer in advance, Ill add an ice cube or two but it waters down the flavor a bit.
When strawberries and blueberries are on sale I buy a ton to freeze so we always have smoothies on hand. If you prefer, ready frozen berries from the freezer section work beautifully in this smoothie recipe, too.
I prefer smoothies that are similar to a milkshake consistency and frozen bananas are the key. I buy extra bananas and simply peel them and put them into a ziploc bag in the freezer.
When I am ready to make a smoothie, I just grab however many I need and toss them in the blender. Its also a great strategy for using bananas that are getting overripe and gives smoothies the perfect consistency.

Oat milk is one of my favorite trendgredients. Not only is it creamy and delicious, but it provides another option for those with specific dietary restrictions: lactose intolerance, soy allergies, and nut allergies. The Best Strawberry Smoothie
Even with such a seemingly basic recipe, theres actually a trick that makes some strawberry smoothies taste better than others.
The trick is to use frozen strawberries instead of adding ice, because this will result in a thicker and creamier smoothie with a much deeper strawberry flavor.
If using fresh strawberries, just cut off the stems and freeze them beforehand, or you can buy the berries already frozen. Before blending, thaw them just enough so they arent rock hard and can be easily blended.

Can I Use Fresh Strawberries For This Smoothie Recipe
Technically, you can. But I would not suggest using them here. This is because frozen strawberries produce a creamy, thick, super divine, and sweet smoothie. And tastes 1000 times better.
Trust me I have tried a smoothie with fresh strawberries, I didnt like it that much. So if you want the most delicious tasting strawberry banana oats smoothie, then I would highly recommend using frozen strawberries for this smoothie recipe.
However, if you dont have frozen strawberries, then you can use frozen bananas when using fresh strawberries. That way you would get close results.
So when strawberries are in this season, pluck your own strawberries from the farm and freeze them. Use them year-round in your smoothies and other recipes. Thats what I love to do.
Other than eating strawberries straight from the farm, picking your own strawberries and freezing them is much more fun. 🙂

Smoothie Not Sweet Enough
If you have a sweet tooth like me, you might wanna add in a little something, something to achieve a deliciously sweet taste for your strawberry smoothie.
- Keeping the sugar low? Use sugar free, natural sweeteners like liquid stevia or liquid monkfruit. Add in just a few drops to taste.
- Use the best strawberries. I know, I know, itâs totally hard to predict what kind of quality strawberries will be at the market. But if you can, pick the best ones for your strawberry smoothie. Iâve also found that frozen strawberries are in great condition and donât have any added ingredients.
- Add in the sweetener you have on hand: You can up the sweetness with a teaspoon or two of pure maple syrup, honey or even keto maple syrup. You can even toss in half a frozen banana to increase the creamy sweetness of your oat milk strawberry smoothie.
What Goes In A Strawberry Blueberry Banana Smoothie

In addition to it being sometimes maddening in the morning often times I am out the door pretty early and dont have time to even sit down and enjoy anything so smoothies are on the menu at least 3 days a week, no joke.
Whatever fresh fruit we have in stock, some ice cubes, maybe some honey, and of course almond milk. Talk about a killer way to feel really good in the morning time with all that deliciousness. I personally try not drink too much regular milk as it tends to give me indigestion and often times gives me a stomach ache, so almond milk is always the way to go for strawberry, blueberry, banana smoothies. Oh yeah, not-too-mention they are flavored! Huge Score!

Dry the blender thoroughly before storing.
How Much Sugar Is In A Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Because strawberry banana smoothies are mostly fruit, they do tend to have a good amount of sugar. This homemade strawberry banana smoothie has 19 grams of sugar .
This is natural sugar and 19 grams is way less than most smoothies you can order at a smoothie shop. For instance, the Starbucks Strawberry Banana Smoothie has 58 grams of sugar!
The daily sugar intake recommendation for an average adult is about 25 grams of sugar day, even if its coming from natural sources. Just something to be aware of!

Recipe Pro Tips For Success
~ Place the spinach in the bottom of the blender, followed by blueberries and oats. Then add the liquid ingredients on top. This prevents any splashing from adding heavy ingredients into liquid and helps the greens to blend smoothly since they are closest to the blades.
~ Use frozen berries for a nice thick smoothie.
~ Use old fashioned rolled oats or quick cook oats. Do not use steel cut oats.
~ Choose certified gluten free oats to ensure this smoothie is gluten free, if you need.
~ Use unsweetened plain non-dairy milk to avoid any unnecessary sweeteners. Or you could even use water.
~ Pour it into an insulated to-go cup for breakfast on the run.
~ Use a high speed blender, like a Vitamix, Blendtec, or KitchenAid K400, to ensure a super creamy smoothie.

If Im making it for my kids I prefer to use cows milk and its actually creamier that way but it could use the extra extra teaspoon of honey.
love that this is more of a balanced and filling smoothie with the Greek yogurt and oats so you get a whole grain, some added protein from the Greek yogurt plus the probiotics that come with it.
