How To Make a Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie | The BEST!

Bananas The star of the drink. Since bananas are packed with fiber , your smoothie will be filling, without being too high in calories.

The riper, the better. I dont care if its overripe and the peels are all blackened this just makes the smoothie so much sweeter. No need to add extra sweeteners!

You also want to use frozen bananas here too. Frozen fruits just blend better than fresh ones. And, it gives the smoothie an ice cream-like consistency too. Its almost like a milkshake!

Peanut Butter Star number two! Peanut butter is 25% protein and is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients too, making it a wonderful ingredient to a healthy breakfast drink. Doesnt matter what brand you use, but I prefer Smuckers and 365.

Milk Your smoothie will need liquid, otherwise you will get a super thick mixture. Milk is the perfect candidate because it adds creaminess to the drink.

Honey This is totally optional, especially if you are using super ripe bananas.

Ice Cubes This one is also optional. If your bananas are already frozen, this may not be necessary.

How To Make Banana Peanut Butter Smoothies Recipe

Add the frozen banana, creamy peanut butter, milk, yogurt, maple syrup, and flaxseed meal to your high-speed blender like Vitamix Blender, and blend for a few seconds until smooth and creamy.

If you prefer your smoothies to be a bit thinner, try adding extra almond milk. Pour into a glass, top it with banana slices, nut butter and sprinkle a dash of ground cinnamon. Serve immediately!

How To Make A Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie:

This smoothie is so easy to make. Well, I guess all smoothies are but this one only has four ingredients, five if you add the ice.

Note: If your bananas are frozen, you wont need to add any ice. If you do, youll wind up needing to add in more milk just to keep moving in the blender. But even if you use room temperature bananas, you only need to add ice if your goal is to have a thick smoothie, otherwise it will be more on the thin side.

JUST BLEND! Anyway, like any smoothie, just toss all the ingredients into your blender and puree until its nice and smooth. Pour the smoothie into glasses, add a straw, and if youre feeling extra fancy you can heat up some peanut butter and drizzle a little on top. Relax and sip away!

How To Thicken A Smoothie

I love a good smoothie that has a milkshake-like texture. Here are 3 tricks to make sure your smoothie turns out nice & thick:

  • Dont add too much liquid! If you start with too much liquid , you may end up having to add ice, or more frozen fruit to thicken it up again. Adding ice will dilute the flavor, and adding more fruit might make more servings than you were hoping for, so start with only 1/2 cup of liquid for a single serving.
  • Use frozen fruit. This recipe calls for frozen banana to make a thick smoothie, with an ice cream like texture. If you use a fresh banana, the smoothie will be much runnier in consistency, and youll need to use even less liquid in that case.
  • Add flax seeds. Flax seeds gel when you add them to water, so they help thicken this smoothie even more. They also add omega-3 fatty acids and extra fiber, to help keep you feeling full.
  • You can also add ice to help thicken a smoothie, but keep in mind that the ice will dilute the flavor. This peanut butter banana smoothie is so delicious as written, you wont want to change the taste!
