In order to ensure a smooth blend it’s important to put the liquid ingredients into the blender first. This way the blades can move freely in the first few seconds of blending to really blend everything nice and smooth.

Tips For The Best Strawberry Banana Smoothie
- Make it thinner / thicker. To thin out the high protein smoothie, add extra coconut milk. To make it thinner, use less coconut milk.
- Use a ripe banana. Make sure your banana is ripe before freezing it. This way, your smoothie will be a little sweeter without having to add in any sugar or honey!
- Use unsweetened coconut milk. I prefer using unsweetened coconut milk to make breakfast protein smoothies.

How To Make A Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie
Making this recipe is as simple as putting all of the ingredients in a blender and blending! So easy, right? Here are all the details:
Step 1: Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until fully mixed .
Step 2: Add water until the smoothie has the desired consistency. Start out with just a little water and then slowly add as much as you like.
Step 3: Serve over ice or use frozen berries to give the smoothie a thicker consistency.
Three simple steps, and you have yourself a perfect shake for a healthy snack or post-workout fuel up!
Getting The Right Consistency
The trick to making the perfect smoothie is getting the amount of liquid just right. Instead of adding all the water at once, I recommend adding it gradually until you reach the desired consistency.
The reason is that the amount of water in your strawberries and banana can vary. Frozen strawberries will also be different from fresh.
I dont think anyone wants a watery smoothie. So my best advice is to add the water slowly.

What Will You Need To Make This Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe
I mentioned a lot of ingredients and substitutions above, but this smoothie only requires four main ingredients:
- Fruit: Real strawberries and ripe bananas are all you need.
- Yogurt: Plain yogurt thickens the smoothie and provides a hefty dose of protein.
- Coconut milk: For richness, and to blend.
- Protein powder: For that extra boost of protein.
In additional to the nutrition-boosting optional ingredients listed in the recipe oats, beets, and leafy greens you can also add a scoop of almond butter or peanut butter, or a couple spoonfuls of chia seeds or hemp hearts for a little bit of extra nutrition and staying power.
Youll also need a blender! Any kind works you dont need an expensive high powered blender. In fact, I typically make this in a Magic Bullet. However, if youre not using one of the more powerful blenders, be careful about using whole, fully frozen fruit. I like to par-thaw my strawberries for the Magic Bullet, so that I know they will get full blended. If youre using a high speed blender ), its not a necessary step.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe Variations
This smoothie recipe is so versatile. Here are a few different ways that you can customize it.
Strawberry You can use fresh or frozen strawberries. Blueberries or raspberries would also work well. We also have a Blueberry Smoothie Recipe
Banana We havent tried this recipe without the banana but Im sure it would work find, it would just be less sweet.
YogurtNonfat greek yogurt is a great way to add protein and richness to smoothies for a low amount of calories. You can substitute with dairy free yogurt or full fat yogurt. You can also skip the yogurt, but may need a little bit more milk.
Milk Any milk will work in this recipe. Almond, Dairy, or other non dairy milks will all work.
Protein Powder Protein powder isnt necessary but it is recommended for this recipe. The added protein will help keep you full, rather than this just being blended fruit . Any protein powder will work. We like this protein powder best.
Frozen Fruit You can substitute frozen fruit for fresh fruit. Substitute 1:1.
Other Add Ins Feel free to add in other nuts or seeds to this recipe. Chia or flax seeds would make a great addition!
Greens We love to add a handful of spinach or kale to this recipe. You cant taste it and its delicious. You could also try our Immunity Smoothie
Frozen Cauliflower: Frozen cauliflower is relatively tasteless and helps thicken smoothies. Its also a great way to add in sneaky veggies. 1/4 cup cauliflower rice will blend nicely in this recipe.
