What Are The Benefits Of A Strawberry Banana Smoothie

How To Make Chocolate Banana Smoothie | Delicious Smoothie Recipe | Ruchi’s Kitchen

A strawberry and banana smoothie is good for you because strawberries are rich in fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. They are among the top 20 most antioxidant-rich fruits. One serving of strawberries contains more vitamin C than an orange.

Try to buy organic strawberries, if possible. Non-organic strawberries often test positive for at least one pesticide. I like to buy the large Costco packages of frozen organic strawberries for our smoothies.

Bananas are a good source of fiber, potassium and magnesium. Your body digests the sugar in a banana more slowly than refined sugars, so you get lasting energy, rather than a sugar rush and crash. Naturally-sweet bananas are a healthy way to satisfy your craving for sugar. When youre craving a sweet frozen treat, this strawberry banana smoothie is a delicious option!

Best Peanut Butter For A Smoothie

There are a lot of great peanut butter brands on the market. I like to use Justins Peanut Butter because its all-natural and has no sugar added.

You could also use almond butter or another type of nut butter. I like natural peanut butter. This is a great way to add healthy fat to your breakfast smoothies.

What Is A Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are smoothies that are taken to the next level! Its basically a big, thick, creamy smoothie in a bowl with lots of toppings that you eat with a spoon like ice cream! Basically its like an ice cream and a smoothie had a baby.

Smoothie bowls seem simple, but it can be difficult to achieve the perfect flavor and consistency. This is a complete guide on how to get your smoothies creamy and delicious every time!

1. Follow the perfect smoothie formula:

  • 1 cup of frozen fruit
  • 1 frozen banana, sliced
  • 1 cup of milk of your choice
  • 1/2 cup yogurt of your choice
  • 1-2 scoops of protein powder

2. Mix the bowl of smoothie.

Smaller blenders like the Magic Ball are great, but I find they can be a bit tricky if you want to make a bigger bowl of smoothie. Here are some great options for smoothie bowl mixers

  • Vitamix Blenders

3. Add toppings! What are the best smoothie bowl toppings?

  • fresh berries

How to make a smoothie bowl without bananas?

  • 1 1/2 cup frozen fruit
  • 1/2 cup green vegetables
  • 1 cup of milk of your choice
  • 1/2 cup yogurt of your choice or avocado
  • 1-2 scoops of protein powder

Which yogurt should you use for making smoothie bowls?

Personally, I love using coconut yogurt as a dairy free option! Culina Coconut Yogurt is definitely the best option. It is thick, creamy and contains the best ingredients.

If you can tolerate dairy products, Greek yogurt is another great option!

Add plain Greek yogurt and/or nut butter to this strawberry banana smoothie for more satiating protein. Just blend the yogurt and nut butter into the smoothie along with the rest of the ingredients. Benefits Of Banana Smoothie

Although this fruit smoothie is sweet, it contains plenty of micronutrients and a fair amount of fiber. One banana gives you vitamin C, riboflavin, folate, niacin, copper, potassium, and more, with amounts varying from 5 to 12% of the recommended daily value.

With Greek yogurt and chopped almonds included, our banana smoothie is also packed with loads of healthy fats.

Still, as our smoothie contains about 9 grams of added sugar , you shouldnt have more than 3 servings per day. If youre going to have other sweet desserts or snacks within the day, check out our guidelines to understand how much sugar you should consume.

What Other Fruit Can You Use

If bananas arent your favorite smoothie ingredient, you could make this smoothie with frozen strawberries or blueberries instead. It wont be quite as sweet with only berries, so you might want to add a pitted Medool date or a tablespoon of honey for sweetness.

How Long Can You Keep A Banana Smoothie In The Fridge

Generally, a smoothie will keep about 8-12 hours in the fridge. A quick smell will clue you into knowing if the smoothie is okay or not. If you do plan on storing a smoothie, store it in a container with an airtight lid. Youll want to fill that container to the very top to prevent trapping air in the container.

For this Banana Smoothie recipe, I recommend eating it all in one sitting, preferably right after making it. I dont find this smoothie sits or stores well. As the frozen banana melts, it changes the texture of this delicious drink.

How To Make Bananas Ripen Faster:

  • Microwave The quickest way, but least likely to produce super sweet results. Nuke it for 30 seconds to one minute. Basically, you are cooking it and allowing the sugars to release a little before you put it into the recipe.
  • Oven- the same concept as the microwave. Heat to 350 degrees and bake for 5-30 minutes.
  • Brown Paper Bag My mother used this technique, but it still takes about a day. Place your bananas in a brown paper bag and roll it closed. Ethylene will build up and speed up the ripening process.
  • Tropical Environment Everything ages faster in the heat. Place your bananas someplace warm, like in a sunny window. It will still take up to a day, depending on how ripe the banana was to begin with.
  • Single them out lastly, pull your bananas apart. They ripen much faster separated than they do still hooked together.

    About This Banana Smoothie

I love cooking with bananas, so I always keep a bunch on hand in my kitchen. In fact, several of my favorite recipes feature this perfectly sweet and starchy fruit! I could eat them practically all day: Eggless Banana Pancakes for breakfast, Banana Cake, Banana Bread, Banana Muffins for desserts and Banana Milkshake for drinks.

Ok, perhaps that is all a bit much for one day. But I still stand by my love for all things banana, and therefore wanted to create a smoothie recipe for a banana-tastic snack to add to my banana-all-day wishlist.

Smoothies can be made from just about any piece of produce. You simply need a fairly soft fruit, a liquid for creating the drinkable texture, and a good blender or mixer.

In this easy 3-ingredient banana smoothie, I use ripe bananas that are about to brown, so they are super sweet and no extra sugar needs to be added. The bananas are blended with thin coconut milk for a slightly tropical taste and great creaminess. And a healthy pinch of cinnamon adds a slightly smoky and sweet flavor!

I usually make these vegan banana smoothies for a healthy and filling breakfast. Theyre also fantastic to quickly blend up for a satisfying snack on the go, or can be enjoyed as a lighter dessert.

I suggest you try this smoothie recipe whenever you need a tasty, satisfying, and filling drink.

    Ingredients For Banana Smoothie

Our simple banana smoothie recipe calls for simple ingredients, such as banana, milk, honey, ice, Greek yogurt, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

If you choose frozen bananas instead of fresh ones like we did, your smoothie will become an ice-cream-like slushie. Youll also need a strong blender because frozen bananas can be tough to blend.

Ice is optional, depending on how thick youd prefer your smoothie. Place half the amount of ice in the blender first and adjust its consistency by adding more later.

In terms of milk and Greek yogurt, there are plant-based options in store if you want to make a vegan smoothie. We went for fresh milk because its an easy option, but we actually prefer the complex aromas of milk made from walnuts and almonds.

Honey in this recipe is merely a sweetener. You can replace it with other options such as sugar, or simply leave it out, taste, and decide whether or not to include it.

Next, we infused the smoothie with vanilla and cinnamon powder, giving it the wonderful aroma of banana bread. If youre a big fan of this sweet treat, including these ingredients is mind-blowing.

Finally, we garnished our drink with baby mint leaves.

The Best Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

The other night I was lying in bed watching everyones Snaps, and saw this semi-celebrity that I follow post that she just made her first smoothie ever. And my reaction was like, I dont understand? Its 2016, who has never made a smoothie? But then I realized I need to remember that not everyone revs up their blender in the morning. Like if my apartment caught on fire, I would first grab my Vitamix, then probably my Louboutins, and then run out the door. Everyone has their priorities.

So today we are bringing it back to the basics. A Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie that is so simple and delicious, those who are new to the blender game will have no trouble at all. For my S4B vets, get creative with this one and add in some extras like flax meal, chia seeds, or maca powder. And you can always throw in some spinach or kale to make it green.

  • 10 oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 big handful of frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop of vanilla plant based protein
  • Add all ingredients to a blender, and blend until smooth.
  • I peel a bunch of bananas ahead of time, break them into large chunks, place them in a ziplock bag and store them in my freezer. That way they are ready to go when I need them.

The kinds of yogurt and the milk that you use are completely up to you. I used almond milk and greek yogurt but if desired, you can use regular milk or a dairy free alternative yogurt. Whatever works best for your diet.

    Only Have Fresh Fruit

If you only have fresh fruit, then you have a couple of options.

  • Freeze your fruit: strawberries and bananas can easily be frozen. This process will take around 2 hours, but you can follow our frozen banana tutorial. It works the same with strawberries!
  • Use ice: this would be our last resort suggestion only because ice dilutes your smoothie, however, it is a good option if you only have fresh fruit.

    Freeze Your Bananas First

Making this smoothie with a frozen banana is key. The banana lends natural sweetness, and when frozen, does wonders for the texture.

Let your banana get good and ripemottled with black spots. Peel it, slice it and store in a resealable bag or covered container. Freeze overnight. When its smoothie time, add it to the blender. Bananas will keep well for several months in the freezer when properly sealed.

    How To Peel A Banana

Healthy Chocolate Banana Smoothie Recipe |Delicious Chocolate Banana weight loss Smoothie Recipe

Although it seems quite intuitive, there are many ways to peel a banana.

The basic method is to tear the skin at either of the ends and peel away. Choosing which end to start with depends solely on your preference some prefer the stalk, others the bottom end.

Some bananas are tough to peel, so simply cut them in half and theyll virtually peel themselves.

If youre thinking of using a vegetable peeler, its not going to be of much assistance here.

    Can You Make Smoothies Ahead

Its best to serve smoothies right after blending. Thats when they taste best and have the best texture. Most smoothies will still taste ok on the second day if you make them the night before and then store them in the refrigerator until the morning.

If youd like a make ahead or meal prep option, you can measure out the smoothie ingredients, except for the liquid, and store in an airtight container in the freezer. Then to make the smoothie all you have to do is add the prepared frozen ingredients and liquid to your blender and blend.

How To Make The Best Strawberry Smoothie

How to make a banana smoothie. My favorite smoothie recipe

Our basic smoothie recipe calls for four simple ingredients:

Strawberries I love adding a heaping cup of whole strawberries and particularly enjoy when the smoothie is made with frozen berries. For a smoothie made with blueberries, try our easy blueberry smoothie recipe.

Banana I use one banana to make one large or two smaller smoothies. For the best tasting smoothie, use a ripe banana. For the creamiest smoothie, use frozen banana slices .

Half an orange When I have oranges in the house, I love adding them to my morning smoothie. It adds extra vitamin C and tropical flavor. If you dont have oranges on hand, dont worry, you can substitute other fruits like mango, pineapple, and berries.

Milk To help the ingredients blend, I like adding some liquid to the blender. For a smoothie without milk, use water. It still tastes amazing. For more creaminess use milk .

To make the smoothie, I add everything into a blender, and then blend until smooth. For an icy cold smoothie, throw in a handful of ice or use frozen fruits.
