What Fruit Goes Well With Oat Milk

Bananas and strawberries are great for an oat milk smoothie. These are rich in antioxidants and strawberries are a great source of Vitamin C. Also, they can balance each others tastes since strawberries might be tart and ripened bananas might be quite sweet. If your fruits can balance each other, you will not need to add any sweetener to your smoothie. Apart from bananas and strawberries, you can also go for blueberries, raspberries, mangoes or cherries. All of these fruits go well with oat milk and can provide you with the perfect taste and nutritional benefits.

  • Berries of Choice: use any of your favorite berries and combine the types for different flavors. My favorite combo is frozen raspberries and frozen strawberries. Adding frozen blueberries also makes it delicious.

    Berry Yogurt Smoothie Ingredients

Berries: It all starts with frozen berries. Any type will do. As you can see, Ive used a mix of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. It was a berry mix that I picked up in the grocery stores freezer section. Any combination works well here. Mix and match your favorites, or use all of one kind if you prefer.

Yogurt: Next, add in your unsweetened non-dairy yogurt of choice. Use plain or vanilla flavored. If using the plain flavor, you may like to add a splash of vanilla extract or ½ teaspoon of ground vanilla to the mixture before mixing.

Banana: To add a banana or not? Ive made this smoothie both ways, with and without a banana, and I must say the one with the banana was the better of the two. I used a room temp banana, which added extra creaminess and made it slightly less icy. It will also add some bulk and extra added nutrition. If you have one on hand, by all means, add it in!

Non-Dairy Milk: Lastly, youll want to add about ½ cup of unsweetened non-dairy milk or water to help get everything moving in the mixer, adding an extra splash or two as needed.

Toppings: Some optional toppings to consider are frozen berries, granola, cocoa nibs, and coconut flakes, to name a few.

  • Cold = good. Frosty smoothies sound delightful. Lukewarm, not so much. Also if you use frozen fruit it will make your smoothie lighter and creamier in texture .
  • Slice bananas, then freeze. Its really hard for a blender to break down a big ole chunk o banana, so give it some help. I slice mine, put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper, chuck the whole thing in the freezer overnight, and transfer the frozen pieces to a zip top bag the next day.
  • Not into banana? Here are some alternatives that will mimic the body and texture of a nana without the flavor. Frozen riced cauliflower, avocado, oats, greek yogurt, chia seeds, nut butters, or dates.
  • Ratios. I find that 1 cup of liquid is sufficient for about 1 1/2 cups of stuff.
  • Composition. A good smoothie should have at least four components.
  • Liquid . For this feel free to use any juice, milk, or alternative milk youd like. A half and half mix of milk and coffee is also very yummy.
  • Body. Something that gives it a little heft. This is normally where a banana come into play. Protein powder also does a great job here.
  • Flavor. Whats the main flavor of the smoothie? In this case its blueberries and almonds. Dont go overboard here. Three distinct flavors is plenty, and I might even say overboard.
  • Add-ons. These are things that add a little something extra. Cacao nibs for texture, nut butter for extra richness, chia seeds because you healthy AF. The sky is kind of the limit in this category so go to town.

Ingredients Required To Make Oat Milk Smoothie

To make the perfect gluten-free and vegan oat milk smoothie, here is the list of ingredients that you require. These ingredients are easily available in all supermarkets and you can even add or remove the ones which do not suit your taste. On the other hand, oat milk is a necessary ingredient, unlike others which can have alternatives. The following ingredients will make your smoothie taste like a delectable dessert.

    • 2 cups of Frozen Strawberries: You can add any frozen fruit of your choice but strawberries are a great option for a smoothie.
    • 2 Fresh Bananas: You do not need to freeze them. Just two bananas at room temperature will do.
    • ¾ to 1 cup of Oat Milk: Unflavoured and plain milk are preferable. On the other hand, you can also go for vanilla-flavoured oat milk but they have artificial sweeteners.
    • 8 Ice Cubes: These will give your smoothie a crushed ice crunch.
