Drinking a smoothie is a great way to get added nutrition into your daily diet without having to put in too much effort or work to do so. In one glass you can contain multiple servings of fruits and vegetables perfect. With little to no added sugars, you can consider it a healthier way to fill your tummy. Start your day with a healthy breakfast of fresh smoothies and youll be starting it on the right foot.

Spinach Berry Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds


1. Place all ingredients besides into blender and blend until smooth. Add more almondmilk if smoothie is too thick.

2. Taste your smoothie. Add sweetener like honey or Stevia as desired to taste.

3. Pour into a chilled glass, sprinkle with extra berries.

How To Make This Detox Spinach Green Smoothie

Now that we know all about the health benefits of this smoothie, its time to make it. And making it is super simple, but you will need a blender, or stick blender to blend the ingredients.

Start by peeling the bananas and the apple, then slice them up and add to the blender. If you want more nutrients, leave the skin on the apple, but it may result in a smoothie that is not fully smooth if your blender is not very powerful.

Then, to the blender add washed baby spinach and the juice of 1 lemon. Add about 1 cups worth of water, or as needed, depending on how thick or thin you like your smoothie start with less water, and add it as it blends, until the smoothie is of a consistency you like.

Close down your blender and blend away!

I dont have a Vitamix, so I just blend it on full power until I no longer see chunks of spinach or apples in the smoothie.

Putting The Yogurt Smoothie Together

I layer my blender in this order: ice, yogurt, spinach, apple, banana, berries and a dash of water if necessary. You can make it as thick or as thin as you like. I like to drink mine through a straw instead of with a spoon, so my mixture is thinned accordingly.

I usually use Chobani non-fat plain Greek yogurt. If another brand of non-fat plain Greek yogurt is available for a better price, I use it. Choose the brand you prefer.

Mix and match your favorite fruits or what you have on hand. When I use an apple, I leave the peelings on. Wash your apple, core, and cut into thin strips and put into the blender. Peanut Butter is an addition you can make. It sweetens the smoothie and adds protein, which is good for your kids.

Once you have your ingredients in the blender, use the pulse button until things are mixed. Pulse and let go, then pulse and let go until the ingredients are mixed together. If necessary, use a spatula to scrape the sides of the blender. Then turn the blender on low speed and increase the speed until you have the mixture as you like it. If its too thick, add some water or more ice. You can also add milk if you want it creamier.

Today Im sharing my 3-year-olds favorite green smoothie. He LOVES the strawberry banana combination and so do I. I like to slice bananas before I freeze them so the smoothie blends up nicely.

I keep a bag of frozen bananas along with bags of other organic frozen fruit in my freezer all the time. I even freeze kale or spinach sometimes when I know Im not going to use it all up.

Costco is the best place Ive found to buy bulk frozen fruit. Plus, I love having frozen fruit around to make pies, put into baked goods, make toppings for waffles/pancakes etc.

Whenever I make oatmeal, I throw a handful of frozen blueberries in the bowl. My son also likes eating frozen blueberries straight out of the freezer for a snack.

Frozen fruit is actually really nutritious. Because the fruit is allowed to ripen to maturity and frozen quickly after harvesting, it is chock full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Fruit begins to loose its nutritional value right after its picked, but freezing fruit right after harvesting helps lock in those nutrients. Long live frozen fruit! Literally.
