A simple yogurt smoothie doesnt need a lot of ingredientsso its affordable and quick to make. We love it as is, or with crackers or a muffin for a more substantial meal or snack. It has all of the natural sweetness you want in a kid smoothie, plus protein, calcium, Vitamin C and fiber. My toddler drinks it from a straw cup or in a reusable Squeasy Gear Pouch.

  • If your child is really reluctant when it comes to their greens, start by adding less than the amount listed in the recipe. Gradually add more over time.
  • Start with baby spinach as its the mildest in flavor amongst the greens.
  • Freeze leafy greens if you can. This will help reduce the bitterness and cut back on waste. Just add them straight to the blender. Theres no need to defrost as they will thaw quickly.
  • Same goes for fruits. You will end up with a smoother, creamier smoothie. You can certainly purchase from the store, but they are super easy to freeze at home and cheaper too! Dont waste those ripe fruits, like brown bananas. We all have them ).

    It can be a battle to get your kids to eat those little green veggies on their plates. Heres a healthy smoothie recipe they will love that has a few greens in it. Dont worry, they wont even notice! My kids didnt!

    As someone that is not picky, it can be hard to deal with my children saying no time after time to my home-cooked meals. Meals like tacos, lasagna, chicken parmesan get denied regularly at out house and it can be very hard on my motivation to cook meals sometimes. However, I decided to try my hand at some homemade smoothies and sneak some greens inside to give my kids a little extra nutrition boost. The verdict> THEY LOVED THE SMOOTHIES!!

    One thing that may confuse you is the color. Im right there with you on this matter but once they grabbed their cups and didnt even consider the color I didnt say a word. They started eating them and they didnt stop! They loved them and that made this mommy soo happy. If the color doesnt bother them, well then its not going to bother me.

    If you are wondering, I think the color looks a bit like there is some chocolate in the smoothies which there is not. However, after doing a bit of googling, red + green + yellow = brown so there ya go!
