Return To Live At The Smoothie King Center Starts With Eight Events Three Sold

Elton John performs at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

    Editor’s Note

This article is brought to you by ASM Global New Orleans.

The ASM Global New Orleans-managed Smoothie King Center kicked off 2022 with six concerts, including three sold-out shows. Just over a month into the new year, performances by Elton John, Billie Eilish, Legendz of the Streetz Tour, TOOL, Maxwell and Jojo Siwa have already attracted almost 70,000 fans to the arena. A strong schedule of shows is already on the books for the remainder of the year.

As the COVID pandemic appears to sing its swan song and mandates are lifted, concertgoers rejoice. Full-capacity events have come back with vigor as fans clamor for live-entertainment options, encouraged by the citys recent lifting of the mask, vaccine and negative testing requirements. The Smoothie King Center has been happy to cater to patrons demands, announcing five shows this month with more on the way.

The turnout for concerts has been nothing short of monumental, proving events are thriving once again in New Orleans. Elton John kicked off both the Smoothie King Centers 2022 concert lineup and his twice-postponed Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Tour at the arena on Jan. 19. Early in the show, he reminded the sold-out crowd theyd been holding onto their tickets for 745 days. The wait didnt dissuade fans that came out in droves to see the legendary singer-songwriter in one of his last performances.

Wan Kim, Smoothie King owner and CEO, shows off the company logo at his office in Metairie Tuesday, February 11, 2014.

Consider The Following When Buying Concert Tickets

Seats behind the stage are occassionally sold: Unless your main objective is to just get in the building, you’ll want to completely avoid anything behind the stage – like those in/near or above sections Section 115, Section 116, Section 117 and Section 118. It’s unlikely the performer will turn around to salute you – and you’re more likely to be completely blocked out from seeing the show.

If you’re on the shorter side , consider floor seats only in the first few rows: The most common complaint amongst floor ticketholders is that they can’t see the stage because of taller people in front of them. As an alternative, consider side sections near the stage that will still have you close and high enough to see.

Lower level side sections are not created equal: While the side sections closest to the stage are top-notch, side sections farther from the stage may leave you with a cramp in your neck. Sections 102 and 111 are not well-angled towards the stage – leaving you to turn your head for an ideal view. Instead, consider head-on sections in the lower level or even close side seats in the upper level like Sections 331 and 317.

Pelicans Bench – The Pelicans players sit in front of Section 111

Visitor Bench – The visiting team sits in front of Section 114

To search tickets in these seating areas, select an event and apply the corresponding filter.

Best Seats For A Concert At Smoothie King Center

The most common seating layout at Smoothie King Center for concerts is an end-stage setup with the stage located near sections Section 115, Section 116 and Section 117. For many concerts there are also slight variations to the layout, which may include General Admission seats, fan pits and B-stages.

On the Floor: Sections Floor A, Floor B, Floor C and Floor D are Floor Seats, which offer some of the closest views of the performers. For many concerts, floor sections are added or removed. These performer-specific adjustments may alter the floor layout and the views from each floor section.

To the Side of the Stage: For close views of the stage with a little bit of elevation, consider seats to the side of the stage in Section 101, Section 102, Section 111 and Section 112. The view is not head-on like on the floor, but many of the seats are closer to the stage, provide better elevation and are actual stadium seats.

Head-on to the Stage: Seats directly across from the stage, like those in Section 106, Box 106, Section 107 and Box 107 provide the most comfortable looks of the performance. Even upper level sections offer unobstructed sitelines. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to see as much detail from these seats as you would if you sat closer to the stage.

Could The Smoothie King Center Be An Early Voting Location

    More Videos

NEW ORLEANS With the COVID pandemic still raging, there is now a push across the country to turn empty sports arenas into voting venues.

That could happen in New Orleans at least during early voting for the fall elections.

Instead of the Pelicans shooting buckets at the Smoothie King Center, voters could soon be casting ballots there.

Thursday, state and local election officials toured the facility.

They are eying the building as a possible early voting site.

Kyle France is the chairman of the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, the state board that manages the arena.

We had the secretary of states office down to speak to us about the possibility of using the Smoothie King Center which has been an ongoing discussion with his office for the past two months, France said.

The traditional early voting sites in New Orleans include the Algiers Courthouse, election warehouse in the east, Lake Vista Community Center and City hall.

France maintains the Smoothie King Center would allow for better physical distancing than the other, much smaller locations.

Giving folks the opportunity to early vote in a safer, secure manner than maybe standing in line outside of City Hall or wrapped around the City Hall building, France said. I think this gives them obviously an air-conditioned facility, a safe facility, ample parking all those kinds of things.

The New Orleans City Council passed a resolution asking election officials to consider using the arena.

City Greens, 909 Poydras Street. Soups, sandwiches, salads and more healthy stuff sourced locally. So, completely unlike anything else on this list.

Lucky Rooster, 515 Baronne Street. Chef Neil Swidler does eclectic Asian street food alongside Christine Jeanine Nielsen’s fun and delicious cocktail menu, with the cool vibe of its sister restaurants Juan’s and Slice, and affordable prices considering the quality.
