Banana Strawberry Orange Juice Smoothie Recipe

The mall drink is packed with more sugar than a can of soda, and besides having vitamin C from the orange juice it contains, its devoid of nutrients. Its a sugar bomb with no protein and no fiber.

My Healthy Orange Julius Smoothie is made with real fruit, and contains no added sugars the 20 grams it contains come straight from the oranges and banana. Because its made with whole ingredients, it also has a nice dose of fiber, Vitamin A, calcium and iron.

Orange Banana Smoothie Recipe

  • ½ cup Orange Juice Concentrate
  • 1 cup Orange Juice

Directions:

  • Place bananas, orange juice concentrate, and orange juice into your blender.
  • If you choose to use a fresh banana, you may need to add ice to your smoothie.
  • Blend until smooth, stopping halfway through to scrape the sides of your blender if needed.
  • Add more ice if needed to help your smoothie be cold and thick, and blend again.
  • Garnish with orange and/or banana slices if desired.
  • I love how this recipe is the perfect combination of sweet and tart and is a delicious and fresh way to start your morning.

    With a flirty name and a fresh fruity and tropical flavor, not to mention a bright pink hue, this refreshing smoothie has got it all going on. While it will remind you of summer days, you can whip it up easily at any time of year with frozen raspberries, a little OJ, and canned coconut milk to make it super-creamy.

    With only 4 ingredients , this smoothie can be whipped up at pretty much any time of the year.

    • Pineapples adds body, fibre and a burst of freshness to the smoothie. I recommend using fresh pineapples over canned. You could also use frozen pineapples. Pineapples are an excellent of vitamin C.
    • Fresh Spinach This may be swapped with kale if desired, but spinach is my #1 choice for this because of how well it blends together. It also gives it that beautiful green colour. They both offer ample amounts of Vitamin K, Vitamin A and Vitamin C.
    • Chopped Bananas Bananas in this smoothie help to keep you full and add a natural sweetness, so you dont need to add any sugar to this smoothie. As we all know about bananas, theyre high in, say it with me Potassium!
    • Fresh Orange Juice This also adds a touch of sweetness to the smoothie. I recommend choosing oranges that are more on the sweet side than tart. Oranges are also a great source of vitamin C. You can choose to juice them freshly or buy orange juice.

    Do I Need To Use Frozen Bananas In This Smoothie

    No, you do not need to use frozen bananas in this smoothie recipe. I love peeling my brown bananas and throwing them in my freezer for use in smoothies later. When I use frozen brown bananas I eliminate banana waste, eliminate the need to add extra sweetener to my smoothies, and I can eliminate the need to add ice to my smoothies. Basically, frozen bananas are the best for smoothies!

    Tips For Making This Orange Strawberry Banana Smoothie

    Here are a few of my favorite tips for making this smoothie creamy and delicious:

  • Use frozen strawberries and banana if possible as theyll help keep the smoothie cold and thick. Sometimes ice doesnt blend as well, so its best to skip unless absolutely necessary. If you only have fresh fruit, try adding 1 cup frozen cauliflower as it blends much easier than ice.
  • Dont be afraid to add more liquid if your smoothie is too thick or wont fully blend. High powered blenders tend to blend frozen fruit much better, so if you have a regular or personal size blender, you may need to add more milk.
  • Start the blender on low speed, then gradually increase the speed to high to help blend all ingredients. End with the blender on low speed.

    Youll need just 4 simple ingredients to make this dairy free strawberry orange banana smoothie:

    • Frozen strawberries: I recommend using frozen strawberries instead of fresh so that you dont need to add additional ice cubes.
    • Banana: feel free to use a fresh or frozen one to naturally sweeten this smoothie.
    • Orange: theres no orange juice concentrate in this recipe, just one fresh orange packed with vitamin C.
    • Almond milk: to help get the right consistency and keep the smoothie vegan & dairy free. You can use any milk youd like but I like to use almond or cashew milk. For a tropical twist, try coconut milk.
    • Toppings: I love topping this smoothie with fresh banana or strawberry slices! Feel free to add granola or even unsweetened coconut flakes, too. Yum!

    Dont like bananas? You can easily swap 1 cup frozen pineapple for a delicious, tropical flavor!

    I didnt start using whole oranges in smoothies until I got a Vitamix. That thing will blend just about anything into a smooth texture. Since I use the oranges fresh and not frozen in this smoothie, it will also work in a regular blender.

    Fresh oranges add a ton of sweetness and a tart flavor that I love to smoothies so although this fruit is often overlooked at smoothie bars, it shouldnt be!

    • If the blueberry smoothie seems too thick, you can add a little more Florida OJ until it reaches your perfect consistency.

    Celebrate National OJ Day on May 4th with a delicious and refreshing smoothie made with Florida OJ, frozen blueberries and vanilla yogurt!

    No one can deny that times have been strange for all of us this past year. Im a firm believer in following my routine every day, but I had to adapt and find a new way to move forward and still enjoy each day. Even with the changes, I still found that one thing I had to include in my new day-to-day routine was to actually find time to stop and take a break.

    It didnt need to be an hour lunch or a complete shut down from a screen or in my case the kitchen, just 5 or 10 minutes was enough to slow down and recharge for my own sanity and well-being. I found that instead of reaching for my typical snacks, which mostly provide unsustainable energy to be honest, I enjoyed making a fresh smoothie.

    This simple version with only three ingredients really hit the spot and kept me going until lunchtime. Made with Florida Orange Juice, frozen blueberries and low-fat vanilla yogurt, it was perfect not only for me but also for my kids!
