I love smoothies. Theyre fast, easy, healthy, and refreshing. This one has just three ingredients but youd never know it based on how creamy, smooth, and satisfying it is.

I got the ingredients at Vons. Look for the new tag at your local Vons or Safeway stores to find new items like these at great values. I used Silk Unsweetened Cashewmilk, Silk Strawberry Dairy-Free Yogurt, and a frozen mixed berry blend of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

I love baking and making smoothies with Silk products because theyre so low in calories and fat, theyre vegan and dairy-free, and I always get impressive-tasting results.

One of my favorite things to enjoy when it starts getting a little hotter, would be a smoothie. They are easy to make, filling and allow me to get in all the nutrients that my body needs during the hot summer days.

I dont know about you guys, but I often have a harder time drinking smoothies in the winter because they usually make me cold. I have found a solution to that issue this year, but it doesnt mean I am completely satisfied with having room temp smoothies for months on end now

So you can imagine how happy I am that the days are getting longer and warmer and strawberries are back in season!

Using Frozen Fruit For Your Smoothie

I often use frozen fruit for smoothies, for two reasons.

Firstly, I find the flavour better if theyre not diluted with ice cubes and so the frozen fruit takes away the need for ice, and second, frozen fruit is cheaper than fresh and just sits in your freezer until you need it, not going off. Im a big frozen fruit fan.

Sometimes I buy bags of ready chopped fruit and sometime I put fruit weve not eaten in Ziploc bags and stick it in the freezer, chopped up small first! Either way, having some frozen fruit in your freezer can save you from many mornings of the kids not having time to get something inside them before the school bus arrives.

Tips For A Creamy Smoothie

I prefer smoothies that are creamy, not thin. It’s harder for me to down a watery smoothie, so I’m always looking for ways to bump up that cream factor.

How do I keep my smoothies creamy? Easy! Just make sure one of these ingredients is included in the blender: mango, yogurt, avocado, banana, cauliflower, hemp hearts or chia seeds. Swapping water with almond, cashew or oat milk also helps.

While this healthy yogurt smoothie is already super thick n’ creamy, feel free to add ¼ cup of plant milk if your blender needs a little help.

Blend the smoothie ingredients until smooth, and pour in the remaining cashew milk slowly until desired consistency is reached. For a thicker fruit and yogurt smoothie, add less cashew milk. And for a thinner smoothie, add a little more.

This healthy fruit smoothie can be frozen for up to one month . When youre ready to enjoy the prepped smoothie, let it rest on the counter for 30 minutes before enjoying.

One things for sure: youll need a blender.

It wasnt until I purchased a new blender several years ago that I realized how much of a difference a good blender makes when it comes to making smooth and evenly combined smoothies.

Tips For Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe:

  • You can still make an amazing strawberry smoothie without yogurt. Yogurt does help make it extra creamy, but bananas do that too. If you are going to make this recipe without yogurt, I would use less juice in the recipe. The banana and less juice will still make a delicious strawberry smoothie without yogurt. This works great if you have children that dont love yogurt or they can taste that distinct taste even hidden in a smoothie , you can still serve a delicious smoothie.
  • You can use almond milk or any dairy free milk instead of water.
  • If adding juice, apple and orange work great.
  • Protein Powder- add this to get more protein if your kids dont like yogurt.
  • Try fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries. Both are great!

I typically find that all of the other ingredients cover the taste of the tart greek yogurt, but my taste buds are also accustomed to eating plain greek, full fat yogurt.

Adding more or less liquid can make your greek yogurt smoothie thicker or less thick, depending on your desired consistency. What other liquids can you use besides milk?
